More DNF details revealed !

Source: Eurogamer (link )

Whatever your feelings on Duke Nukem Forever, the sequel to classic first-person shooter Duke Nukem 3D, which came out a new Doom, a couple of Quakes and two goalpost-shifting Half-Lives ago, it's still interesting to hear how the game's progressing.

So it was nice to see George Broussard, CEO of developer 3D Realms, popping up on a forum thread recently to clarify a few details.

Most interestingly, given the recent advances made by the likes of Max Payne 2 and Half-Life 2 and DN3D's own relative strength in this area, was Broussard's revelation that, in terms of the level of interactivity, "you can play with everything". DNF will be making use of Meqon physics tech, which looked very impressive at this year's Game Developers Conference.

The full game will apparently feature 15 enemy types, more than one boss fight (including the implied return, DN3D fans, of Battlelord), while the team is hoping to find time to explore some wacky weapon ideas before the game reaches completion, with most of the current base set of weapons already complete.

As for when the game will launch... Well, presumably the 3D Realms forum regulars know better than to ask, but we heard talk of it appearing at next year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. Who knows?

Umm, I remember someone saying the game would be showing up during this year's E3 for sure. Unless it was behind closed doors, I sure didn't see it.

They said it will show up E3 2006

I've heard rumors of the production of DNF since the days of old, when Sony was young and Microsoft was still only fighting with Apple. I don't think it will every be released, created, it has been just one elaborate joke that hasn't died... Duke Nukem forNEVER

This whole thing is just a bad joke... Don't you guys think it is more than a bit ironic that DNF typically means did not finish? Doesn't the word forever in the name set off any bells?

The game is not real... and never will be.

10 years :lol

That is so sad...

Maybe my memories fuzzy but didn't Duke Nukem 3D come out in 96?

I still have faith this game will make it out one generation and when it does unlike Doom 3 it will actually live up to expectations.

Looking good!

Multiple endings are something we are playing around with. We certainly love how good colsole Click to enlargegames like Resident Evil reward the player for finishing the game twice. But the ending has to be worth the effort of seeing it in the first place, or it shouldn't be there.

As for replayability: What makes you play any game over and over? DNF will be very interactive and there will be a lot to do and play with, so I'm sure that will be a factor in replayability. I'm not sure many people (other than the die hards) will play the game from beginning to end multiple times, but I do expect almost everyone to re-load maps and look at specific cool things they saw or did. Strippers come to mind. And the goal is for every single map to have visual or gameplay things that make you say "Wow" and want to see then again.

If you don't load parts of the game to show your friends when they come over, then we've failed.

Yes, because those poor developers have been so damn rushed during the development of this game.

This whole thing is sad, and I hope people don't buy it out of principle when and if it's released - if anyone even remembers what Duke Nukem is by then.

E3 2006 would make it about 10 years.

Over ten years, even (if you assume that DNF began production immediately after DN3D released), since DN3D came out in January of 1996 IIRC. And that's if DNF releases right around E3.

The game is never coming out people it is time to
