The Play & Charge Cable fully recharges your Wireless Controller in 6 to 8 hours.

WTF, that's way too long if you can't recharge while the system is off.

Memory cards? WTF? I thought we were done with that shit.

With the 20gb harddrive its not like you have to buy a memory card. The option is there if you want a quick easy way to bring your saves around.

If Microsoft isn't going to include the play and charge kit with the system then don't bother including the wireless controller.

I'd rather have the normal wired xbox 360 controller than the wireless one with no play and charge kit.

I wouldn't, cause that would mean that I'd have to buy both the wireless controller and the recharge kit spearately. If they include the wireless controller, that's one less cost. BTW, it's not like you have to use the wireless feature, there's a cable that comes with it for wired play so its entirely optional.

Does this mean that we don't get a wireless controller in the box?

That's what I've been wondering, we won't know till close to launch I guess. I can't believe that no one asked J about this, and the whole wi-fi thing (should be included). Stupid journalists.

Batteries are included in the box. Already confirmed. Don't know if rechargeable ones though.

A cable is NOT included with the wireless 360 controller.

which is why I'm saying that I'd rather have a wired controller packed in with the console than a wireless one.

I don't have any need for a wireless controller, and having to deal with the whole battery bullshit is an issue I want to avoid without having to puchase extra crap.

Gimme a wired controller.

kthxbye.

I saw this list of peripherals a few days ago and made me think that wireless controllers are an upgrade to be purchased later and not included with the system. That would suck since MS has been touting wireless controllers, as well as the ability to charge the batteries while you play since GDC.

Looks like MS figured out how they were gonna turn a profit next generation. Accessories out the Ass. Don't forget that external wifi adapter addon. :lol

EDIT:

Crap, it does say wired controller... WTF

Why should they have asked about it given that MS never mentioned it in the first place? It was a given that the Xbox 360 would have come with wireless controllers as standard. It was, until now.

And BTW, where are you supposed to plug a cable controller? In the USB ports right? So what's the fucking point of releasing a cable controller when you can theoretically just keep the wireless one always plugged in?

I really dont get this. It's rather confusing.

EDIT: Wait a sec.
Charge your Xbox 360 Wireless Controller between gaming sessions by plugging in the Play & Charge Cable.

Does this mean it doesn't recharge during gaming sessions?

The day of MTV's X360 reveal it was clrealy shown on MS's own site that there was a wired controller as well. It's been known for a while now.

As for your second question, I posed the same thing before. It makes no sense.

Really? Didn't notice at all. *checks*

Neither the Edge article mentions about the cable controller. It just says "[Xbox 360] controllers are wireless".

People find every little thing to bitch about. My Wavebird doesn't have a recharging option. Thank god for the little things. If Sony gives us free recharging with the PS3 controller, then complain. But as it is, this isn't such a bad deal. PEACE.

MS didn't make a huge stick about it, I wish they had that way The Sess could have grilled him about it :P

It's been confirmed that you can charge your controller both while playing and while not playing.

Really? Well I've got no probs with the 6-8h recharge time then. Paying extra for a rachageable pack sucks, but hey we don't have to pay for a mem card so it all balances out.

your gc also came with a wired controller.

selling the recharging attachment as an extra is quite annoying.

this news cements it though. i will not buy the xbox 360 at launch.. im waiting till they bundle in the recharging wire, and a couple of games for a reduced price. fuck it.

:(

Also a word of caution to everyone: Don't expect the Xbox 360 Wireless controller to recharge your AA batteries. Only the MS battery pack will be rechargeable in the controller.

That's how I understand it, anyway.

Edit:

Hmmm I think I've seen that page before. And yup, accessories out the ass! That's how MS plans on making a profit. Imagine if you buy four wireless controllers, each with its battery pack.

I'm gonna go with wired controllers, thank you.

Just steal one...or wait for the cheap eBay knockoffs. But if you ever want to buy a digicam, you might as well invest in some rechargeable AA batts anyway. I'd use mine, but I bet if I get a 360, I'll buy the recharging pack. As long as it's not more than $20, it's not too bad. Not too good either, but not too bad. :? PEACE.

its a Next Gen console I expect a wireless controller supplied with the Console......

Err, it's not confirmed yet if the X360 comes with or without a wireless controller. The rechargeable battery pack doesn't come standard though.

I see. So this has probably been discussed already but can someonme explain me what this part means? (About the Xbox Live Camera)

The camera includes a microphone that connects to the controller, so everyone in the room can chat online with their friends.

So you connect the camera to the system via USB right, but then what about the mic? It's some kind of detachable mic that you have to plung into the controller with a cable running from the controller to the camera?

TTP said:

Well, since all of this stuff is just USB you hook the mic up to the controller for convenience sake so that the mic is near your mouth and you don't have to yell at the camera. The controller just acts like a USB hub at that point.

But wait, you don't need the controller to be pluggein in via USB tho right? i mean, it's the last ring of the chain if it's wireless (Xbox 360 -> USB camera -> Controller + mic -> *air*)

Oh, yeah, I see your point, I don't know what the deal would be with the wireless controller, depends on how it's implemented I guess - unless you buy the camera and there's a little note saying *microphone only works with wired controllers - suxxors to be you*

I don't get this? The mic doesn't plug in the controller via USB. It'll be just like the Live headset. You plug it in the controller and it does wireless full duplex voice. Which is what you're looking for, right?

Official MS DVI cable? FUCK ROCK!!!!

Now I hope the games don't look fucked up on my non-widescreen LCD monitor.

I don't own an Xbox so I have no idea what it currently does, it seems odd that the Xbox implementation of the mic would use a wireless implementation though when they have a perfectly useful and reliable wired connection in the controller though.

With a cord? I thought it would just stick into the USB port like a pendrive. Oh well.

EDIT: BTW where is all this stuff coming from? Source?

The Wi-Fi 802.11b (g?) adapter.

Considering the USB ports are hidden behind the little panel on the front of the console, it would be kinda hard to make something that would fit right into there. Unless there's USB ports on the back too?

The games should be fine, i'm going to assume that the games will resize to 4:3 or 16:9
And thats not a DVI cable, thats a VGA cable, which is good still :)
