MOTHER F**KER, first Wiimote issues!

OMG, I was so happy with my Wii, then the weirdest thing happened.

It stopped detecting the up movement, not like the move up, but like the way u need to hold it up in bowling and baseball. So weird, everything else works, all buttons, navigating through the menus... everything but when I hold it like it needs to be held in baseball and bowling!

WTF WTF WTF

If its broken, what should I do?

PS. I have taken out the batteries, restarted the system, everything

Another thing... I have another wiimote, and its working fine

After help from this thread, shaking the shit out of the controller fixes the problem... while this worries me that it happened at all, Ill keep a close watch on my Wiimote for now

Buy an X-Box 360 instead this motion sensing if a lame gimmick and will wear out very soon... eventually people will turn off the feature.

Besides that who knows... call Nintendo Support.

Did you ReSynchronize both the system & Wiimote(pressed both red Sync buttons)?

Shake it about a bit, failing that, take it back and exchange it....

If you have two that means you bought an extra from a store. Just take it back to the store you bought it from and say it's broke and get another.

Seems like it'd be difficult to rate the truth! Because DS's controls made such a difference, right?

After 3 edits I'm still not sure what you're trying to say. But whatever it is, it's sort of cute. In a sad, pathetic sort of way.

Unplug the power from the wii, take out the batteries of the wiimote -- then put the batteries back in, then plug the wii back in, and then power on (hit the power button) with the remote that's giving you issues.

that should reset it all.

Very simple solution. Took me awhile but it works anytime I fell it gets wonky.

AT ANY TIME(During a game or whenever) hit the home button, then press the reconnect button, wich will reconnect the Wiimote(s) in the house. It re-syncs eberything up perfect everytime. You just have to press the 1-2buttons when it tells you to. Very simple, and works everytime.

Yep..... By the way off topic but WHOLLY RELEVANT

You see i'm watching Lord of the Rings Return of the King, and you guys are on there....TROLLS

Wow. The trolls hit this thread pretty fast. Were they awaiting with the F5 key for the first technical issues to show up?

Hope you have luck with fixing the controller.

They only get let out from under the GameFAQs bridge once the sun sets.

.

It's the closest thing to good news they've had all day.

Oh Christ...just shut the **** up and die.

My wiimote just sporatically goes in and out, and the finger is facing the wrong way, and moving it left doesn't make it go left, and there's a bunch of problems!! AAHHH!!! I didn't feel like buying another one, but hopefully Nintendo will replace it, though in the mean time I'll buy one to make sure that's the problem. Anyone else having this problem?

You are the weakest link...

My completely uneducated guess would be that one of the gyroscopes or whatever they're called has gone out. Return it.

The one in the box is factory synched... the others you hace to synch yourself... it may not be broken at all

It was working fine, it stopped... so this cant be the probelm

Holy **** at trolls. I didn't pick up a Wii today and probably won't for a few months (waiting for Zelda will be a mofo) but I hope it does awesome in NA. If this thread is any indication, the Playstation boys will be more entertaining than ever.

the same thing has happened to me. the exact same thing.

basically it seems like the gyroscope whatever is dead. it doesn't know its orientation. I turn it upside down and lose the pointing (move it away from the sensor bar) and when I bring it back upside down the pointer is right side up and it all of my motions are mirrored.

I have my batteries out and am letting it lose it's settings. will give it a shot again. but yeah, I am having this exact same issue. don't know if it was the factory remote or the second one.

Yikes. So does it work to start, or was it dead to begin with?

Do you guys think it might have something to do with Bluetooth? PS3 users have reported several issues with the controller sending the same signal for 3-5 seconds, and a few of you are experiencing issues with signals not being sent. I wonder if something is interfering with the BT signal.

I did have a wiimote issue where the pointer completely disappeared. I was in the internet settings and I made a messed up connection. I deleted that and then the controller stops working. I finally figured out that the blue leds on the controller where flashing and that is what they were doing before it was synced with the console. I took the batteries out and put them back in and that fixed it.

yes, it worked all afternoon and just stopped working.. pointing works fine but it doesn't know its orientation, so won't show that you are holding it straight up in bowling for example.

I had the system unplugged for around 2 minutes and the batteries out for the same amount of time, resynced all of the remotes, and still have the issues.. heading over to the nintendo forums and seeing if anything is in there.

I work retail, and I will say this, demand for the Wii seems much higher the the PS3. I know the PS3 was in short in supply... but it seems that 90% of the PS3 crowd was ebayers, and 90% of the Wii crowd was people keeping the system. I expect every game on the Wii to show some nice game sales, Zelda sales will be over a million in nov. I'm shocked, and thought I could get a Wii after the crowd died.
EDIT: HAHA! too many open windows!

I would say that this is the wrong thread...

sounds like a problem with the sensor bar.
no. the other remote works perfectly. it is just the one. actually pointing is the only thing that DOES work on the remote.

no this is a problem with the accelerometer calibration not the sensor bar. The IR sensor sees two lights and ca nuse them to determine wiimote angle but it most likely can't differeniate the light on the left from the one on the right, thus it would be the internal sensors telling the wiimote that it is upside down when it is not. Not sure how the wiimote knows its original calibration, but it seems some how it has been screwed up. Try holding the wiimote in all positions during baseball and see if some screwy position in real life results in the home position for the baseball swing.

I don't have the manual with me but their must be some way to recalibrate. Hopefully the Nintendo customer service reps will know sometime soon if they don't already have an answer. This is similar to when WarioWare Touched forgets which way is up. The internals themselves shouldn't be broken, just not synched up right.

Please keep me posted, because Im about to return this shit to best buy

Only problem I've had is my Christmas tree lights screwing with the sensor bar, making the cursor all jittery. Have to turn them off when I play.

no, it doesn't show any orientation during baseball. the bat never even moves.

well, got through to nintendo. their troubleshooting basically says "If only one remote is not working correctly and all others are working fine, your remote needs to be replaced" and "if the wii remote directional sensor (inside the remote) is not working properly, your remote will have to be replaced"

so yeah... annoyingly TRU is closed, so I'll have to return it tomorrow. at this moment I'll let it slide. early adoption means glitches.. just odd that two of us are having the same problem...

yikes, that doesn't sound good. Then it could be that the information about orientation is having trouble sending to the console, or the internals are somehow completely shot. Since you just got the remote I'd try to return it for a new one where ever you bought it as it will be the most painless method. If you can't, then call Nintendo. If this is happening often I'm sure they will find a way to fix it or offer replacements, but maybe it will be a while.

omfg. I fixed it.

solution: shake the ever living mother****ing shit out of it.

I'm not kidding. I'm still keeping that receipt around for sure. but in the meantime it works perfectly.

edi - for reference, I did originally tried shaking it. that's why I just now didn't type "shake it". I mean this last time I pretty much shook the thing like I wanted to break it.

Hahahah. That's awesome. I've lost count on how many electronic devices I've 'fixed' from beating the crap out of it.

And yeah, I work in the IT Support industry.

My favourite was a monitor I bought once. It didn't work until I hit it about 3 times, as hard as I could. Then it worked perfectly forever.

:lol

I had one of those, it was a TV though. Those heavy wooden framed TVs me and my bro would just beat the shit out of it until the static would go away.I also used to smack the shit out of my NES for it to work. great times.
