Australia of course!

A HORRIFIED mother who was woken by her young son’s screams found him soaked in blood with a three-metre python biting his head.

The toddler’s mum, identified only as Tammy on social media, grabbed the huge snake off her terrified son’s face and called for help.

She had put son Tyler to bed as normal last week when the python snuck into the family home in Macksville, northern NSW.

Several hours later she awoke to her son’s desperate screams, discovering the snake had slithered into Tyler’s bedsheets on the top bunk where the boy was asleep and attacked.

NSFW pics on the link but the kid is ok

this is the first time a g/a/f has fooled me in a while - there are literal python hunting events in the everglades because of how prevalent they've become as an invasive species

thats the bit that creeps me out, the fact the snake slithered up to the top bunk to get him!

As if it would be anything other than Australia.

Crazy that it got up to the top bunk.

I saw it on the news yesterday.

Note there's a picture of his head injury in the article in the OP (to be specific about what was called 'NSFW').

Poor kid. I hope he won't be scarred too bad emotionally by the experience.

Every time I read one of these goddamn things I'm so glad I'm gonna be living in the south east next year.

Just asking if the NSFW pictures actually contain any images of snakes? I'm an idiot because I find snakes fascinating but even seeing one causes me to go into a bit of a panic.

Lower on the pages they have a picture of a guy holding the snake, but the NSFW is the bloody head of the kid.

There's an attached video where a dog saves his owner from a snake.

So we may as well also mention that dogs > cats while we're at it.

Snakes eat babies? Holy shit God isn't real

I don't even know how people live over there.

How do people survive in Australia? It seems like death is around every corner lol.

Sometimes I wonder if comments like this are a joke or for real. I live in Australia, close to Melbourne and have never felt threatened by any of the wildlife.

Live near some kangaroos, echidnas, possums, flying foxes (fruit bats), various birds, some spiders, cockroaches, ants, etc but it's never anything to really be concerned about. If there are small spiders that come inside or cockroaches or moths, that I find to be an annoyance I usually just place a glass jar over the top and slide a piece of card underneath and take it outside but that's pretty much as heavy as it gets.

I'm somewhat more concerned with the US and it somewhat easy access of guns and hearing about the random shootings every so often.

It didn't seem to me they were bashing like you decided to.

Holy fuck. That poor child. Hope he's okay and wish him a speedy recovery. More than the injury, the trauma this causes everyday when he goes to sleep is just unimaginable.

I know a lot of people are afraid of snakes but here in California I've literally only seen a single snake in the wild and it was a tiny garter snake. If I saw a 10 ft snake I'd probably just end my own life right then and there.

Sounds almost lucky, if you ask me. Australia has way too many venomous species. A 10-foot python isn't much of a threat, even to a toddler. The thing must've blown a brain fuse to think it could swallow that kid.

I have an 8-footer and he can't even handle too large of a rat.

Look on the bright side: now he has one hell of a story about the time a snake tried to eat him.

Only the strong survive the permanent siege of the animal kingdom. Australia is humanity's frontier against a vengeful Mother Earth and Australians are the elite that survives in a place where everything was evolved to kill humans. The only thing unclear is the question when venomous kangaroos will enter the fray.

Australia sounds fascinating. There always seems to be some crazy shit infesting or attacking or lack of ozone layers. My favorite was some birds that apparently swoop down and attack you during their mating season. Even comes with a special hat:

Believe it or not, Florida actually has a fuck ton of snakes. Lots of idiots didn't know how to deal with their pets once they got too big and would just dump them in the everglades. Now, they have hunts to try and get rid of them..

And those hunts have thus far been exercises in futility. Burmese pythons are still spreading through the Everglades like wildfire.
