It's basically a Saturday Morning Cartoon. It's a Japanese team doing a western art style. Reminds me of Avatar, or Legend of Korra, not necessarily anime. His face and expressions look like Aladdin.

I'd want to do an age demographic breakdown on who thinks so and who doesn't, being born in the 90s and raised in the 00 Chai gives me nostalgic vibes of cartoons I grew up with so I have my inherent biases but if you are in 35+ probably see him as more annoying than me. But he seems to have resonated with many people along with 808...A lovable dumbass is an easier sell in 2023 than a gruff marine.

There's just no comparison between praise for a third party game like ER that wins tons of awards, and the unusual fervor over every random 1st party "small but quaint" game.
