Mr. Driller Drill Spirits: JPN > US - US VER. MISSING AN ENTIRE GAMEPLAY MODE>

Holy shit the music is awesome. Turned out it was Firefox downloading corrupted files, worked fine when I downloaded in IE.

Is the music in Drill Spirits up to this standard? Man I gotta import Drill Land as well now.

I also have to thank you for the music, Bobby. I was really interested in the titles before, but the music quickly pushed me off the fence. Once I get cash I'm going to be getting Drill Land for sure. Though I'll have to see about modding my cube at that point.

Thanks for these Bobby. epunam always makes me smile. I'm guessing you ripped "Star Driller" direct from the game because it's not in the sound test? It's one of my favourite tracks in the game. Do you know any other stuff that Go C-na has worked on?

Thanks bobby! I haven't checked them out yet (still downloading), but i can already feel i'm gonna love em. And for what it's worth, GAF made me buy the Katamari Damacy soundtrack. I heard about it here first and then one event triggered the next and so forth and then one day i was holding the soundtrack in my hands. I'll gladly purchase the Mr.Driller Soundtrack if these tunes turn out to be any good.

OT, but i really wish there was a way to rip the background song from that japanese level (nature) in the first Made in Wario GBA. I did play the level countless times just to listen to that song, unfortunately it's always interrupted by sounds and whatnot so i don't think there is any way to get a clean version of it. Maybe in ~20 years it'll find it's way on a GBA 20th Anniversary OST.

PS. I believe the title of track 19 should really be Die weißen Herzen (the white hearts).

Yeah, "Star Driller" (pretty creative title, eh?) was one of the ones I had to rip from the game. It was quite an ordeal, actually. I basically had to play the level over and over again, recording the entire time, and saving up air at different times in the song so that I could capture 9 or 10 "clean chunks" of the song, with no gasping-for-air sound effects over them. Then I assembled the chunks together into the (hopefully) seamless version that you have now. The only thing I couldn't avoid was the "Yosh!" at the beginning of the song, since that part of the song never loops.

As for Go C-Na, he(?) is a mystery to me. I have searched all over the place for more information, using all 3 names that I've heard (Go C-na, Go Shiina, Masaru Shiina), and have found nothing at all. If anyone wants to tackle the detective work, please give it a shot. I'd love to find out more about this guy.

Hey, I've heard you're a really impressive Mr Driller player. I was wondering, have you gotten any of the stamps in the special versions of any of the Drill Land 'rides'? I used to think it was impossible and that they existed only as endless modes, but I heard recently from a very reliable source that it is actually possible to get stamps in each of them. Which, of course, makes me wonder what exactly you unlock if you manage to get them all? If by some miracle you've done it, please let me know. :D

Hmmm, I should take another look at that in the sound test. It was pretty hard to read a lot of the titles, and I was particularly wondering about that one. I'll have to double check, you could very well be right!

Thanks for all the kind words, guys. It's great to know people are enjoying this music.

Here's a partial list of the games he's composed for:

椎名豪 (しいな まさる)

椎名GO PS エースコンバット3 electroshpere (3曲)
AC ハンマーチャンプ
AC ミスタードリラー
AC ミスタードリラー2
AC ミスタードリラーG[グレート]
GC ミスタードリラー ドリルランド
PS2 MotoGP3
AC ワールドスタジアム98

Add Klonoa 2 to that (composed a small handful of tracks), and I noted his name in the Taiko credits when I was playing last night, so he probably wrote at least one of the originals.

Wow, kudos to you for doing all that - it's certainly turned out great. This is the one song that I thought Shiina didn't write, but I guess there's never going to be any proof otherwise :)

I'm flattered that someone thinks I play well, but I think it's just that my local opposition needs more practice ;) I didn't discover the shop on Drill Land until recently, so I am still on the 3rd level of each attraction. I'll let you know if I ever get the special stamps, but I"m some way off now, I think.

Holy crap! Noone mentioned the moon stage is the same as Star Driller. That was a big surprise! Now Drill Spirits is only missing the Drindy and Horror house modes from Drill Land. Some of the remixes of classic tracks are great too, though the quality of the sampling leaves a little to be desired. Seems like they've been a little lazy in that department.

Got my import Mr. Driller DS yesterday! So far I suck at it, but it's addictive so I'm still playing.

I don't know any japanese AT ALL, so I had to look up online what different selections were. The Japanese FAQ on gamefaqs is helpful, but there is one section it doesn't cover -- spending your "mileage" in the shop or whatever. Anyone with a japanese copy who knows this stuff care to fill me in? I have plenty of miles racked up but I have no idea what I can do with them.

heh, I went down to Users Side today and picked it up ($51). They had 2 copies left and 3 of the bags (you had to ask for them) so when I asked, since they had a spare the guy actually gave me 2. sweet!
