Hope this person is apprehended soon. Have a hunch about this individual’s criminal history that I will hold off on saying until more details are officially confirmed.

I find this line of questioning to be quite naive, and I can’t explain why. Are you asking why a terrorist carried out a [failed] terrorist attack? Why did Bin Laden plot 9/11? Why did the same group of Islamic terrorists carry out the 7/7 bombings? It doesn’t take a genius to work out why.

You thought it was a Muslim terrorist?

History of violence due to mental illness?
History of violence yes, not necessarily mental illness, though that is a possibility. More concerned about number of offenders in big cities who are out on the streets who've been arrested multiple times for attacks, but the DAs drop charges over and over and let them back out on the streets. We'll see how lengthy of a rap sheet this fella has. Curious to see if he's one of the many attackers in that city in recent months who's committed multiple attacks and still not behind bars.

Dont they have cameras on the subway and subway entraces and street intersections?
I would expect someone with such a pintoresque description to be caught quickly.

Edit: nvm, i guess he was indentified.

Yeah, big cities are horrible with letting off repeat offenders ... I think it's because it generates money for law enforcement. It's pretty sick.

I saw one of his YouTube videos... His command of proper spelling is bad ... He really seems to want to go back to segregation. I get SOME of what he said but majority is word salad. Like if Donald Trump was W. E. B. Dubois

Fair bit of warning tho... Don't read the comments. Since he was identified, thanks to Andy Ngo... Some racists have started flooding them. "typical black"

How did you come up with nonsense? Law enforcement arresting, then re-arresting, and so on… the same person over and over again is wasting time and resources.

Do you also think law enforcement have quotas? Because they don’t. There are many reports of officers suing their departments and winning after supervisors gave them de facto quotas.

It’s often for a variety of reasons. Sometimes lack of evidence. Sometimes victims or witnesses not cooperating. What worries me is this movement to reduce the prison population, which is fine if you’re talking about petty offenses or drug offenses, but not for violent crimes. But you’re seeing some DAs worried about the optics of too many of specific demographics in prisons, so filing charges less frequently in the name of equity.

Hasn’t Adams made more police patrol the subway?
Since a few people in the thread talk about being soft on crime and the police being crap?
Also wasn’t the dude out of state?

I noticed basically no one is asking the motive behind this action and i find it so weird.
Also I'm missing much if the context so, anyone, explain it to me like I'm a 5 year old: why is this happening?

We don’t know this particular guys motive yet. All we can do for now is look at historical events. This just happened. Deep understanding takes time.

“Person of interest” discovered. He’s 62.

The media is going to memory hole this faster than they did the terrorist who drove through crowds at the Christmas parade in Wisconsin.

This is nothing compared to what is happening in Ukraine. At times of war the atrocities are much worse. Also isn’t crime like this normal in the US?
Dude, what the hell!? Tell the victims of the attack that "this is nothing."

As the saying goes, people can certainly "walk and chew gum at the same time."

It's not like we should stop paying attention to what's going on at home, EVER, let alone because something is going on thousands of miles away.

The dude was a racist, we hear that word thrown around a lot lately at people for no reason other than differences in political opinion that it's kind of diminished it's meaning. You want to see a true racist, watch the videos from this guy.

What do people expect your entire news , media, most forms of entertainment, celebrities, colleges, schools and even your president constantly promote anti white racism.

Remember when that senile old fool said 'white supremacy' was the biggest threat to your country and half of your population cheered him on and supported him. Or they called burning down cities as mostly peaceful. Well yeah this is what happens.

Divisions are only going to get worse until people stop supporting any company or politician that promotes this narrative and tell them exactly why you're not supporting them. Once they lose votes or money things may change?

No doubts the mods will close this thread down as they only want you talking about nonsense that doesn't matter. But this kind of things needs highlighting not hidden because you want to bury your heads in the sand!

From what I read this guy sounds like a hotep idiot.
Not surprised someone with a similar worldview did this terror attack.

I don't recall seeing this kind of racist extremism in the US until the last few years.
Yup, agreed, and your comment flows nicely in into the first part of the post right below yours

You started well, and I actually agree with you. But antagonizing the mods is not a recipe for success. They're actually fairly open/reasonable here, but if this topic delves into overt politics, yes, the mods will either issue a warning for us to correct course, or lock the thread altogether.

So let's not get into overt politics. (And, again, I agree with your diagnosis of the issue...)

this has to be sarcasm right
It's not. I immigrated to the US in the 90s and never saw racial antagonism and agitation until the last few years. (Last couple of years have just been stratospherically bad.)

Not surprised. BLM and the left / Dems have ruined race relations. Sad.

The “We got him” used repeatedly was kind of cringe. I’m happy this guy got arrested, but they were clearly trying to copy the greatest moment of the Obama presidency when Obama announced “We got him” regarding Bin Laden, the most wanted man on the planet. A simple “we have arrested the subway shooter” would have worked.

I'm sorry the police response wasn't to your liking. Perhaps if you whine about it some more they can alter their behavior to suit you. Good day, sir.

???
The police did a great job arresting this guy. The cringeworthy copying of a great moment in American history just so the media can eat it up wasn’t needed.

An old man going on a racially motivated shooting spree is pretty new
Totally is.

Usually chaotic shooting sprees seem skewed to

- White
- Under 40 years old (especially school shootings which are student age)
- It sure seems a lot of shootings are in small towns or suburban. Not downtown metro area
- Doesn't seem to be racially motivated that much. Often just wacko stuff like teenagers shooting schools or generally pissed off people.

Here, you got a racist old Black guy in downtown NY. As 180 as you can get.

One thing that correlates. It's a man. Very rare you see women go rampaging with guns. A dudebro mentality I guess which women dont get.

Sacramento did not fit the narrative optics either. Worst shooting spree in that State capital's history... down the memory hole.

I was reading this article earlier today. Interesting thoughts on why everything is so weird lately:
Could also simply be due to more social media and everyone posting even more to Tik Tok etc...

Unless there's studies saying unruly passenger incidents are rising, seeing an article about it or a video from a passenger down the aisle doesn't mean much in isolation.

You never heard or read about temper tantrum airline passengers in the past because it wasnt noteworthy enough print in a newspaper, show 10 seconds worth on 6pm news and nobody had a camera on them. Not because it never happened. Back then the only people who knew were the ones on the plane (maybe 200 people). Now a funny video can be seen by 2 million people.

However, with so much weird shit publicly shown on the net, some people get stressed out even more because they think it's happening everywhere. I've taken a plane tons of times. I don't think I have ever seen one weird incident ever aside from something from the plane's end or bad weather where everyone is stuck together for an hour on the tarmac. Never seen a drunk on a plane or mental case going nuts. Seeing a weekly article about a passenger hitting an attendant makes zero difference to my view as I consider that isolated crackpots.
