Music that is sad, yet beautiful at the same time. Hauntingly Beautiful (?)

That's no moon.

yeah yeah, Mimas is known as the Deathstar Moon. Everybody makes that joke ;)

True fact, that interesting scar was caused by an asteroid that almost split the moon in two, which would have made Saturn's rings even more interesting.

Queen has a number of stunningly beautiful tunes I've yet to see posted. The first one is so perfect, and Freddie's voice is so amazing here:

Queen - Nevermore

Also here, Freddie sounds so magnificent and this song has always made me feel very melancholy:

Queen - Doing All Right

Sheer Heart Attack had a couple of songs which were quite somber and memorable:

Queen - Lily of the Valley
Queen - Dear Friends

Of course, this song was a long standing concert favorite and always makes my heart hurt a little:

Queen - Love of my Life

And, finally, I'll stop with this wonderful song from A Day at the Races:

Queen - You Take My Breath Away

I love Lisa Gerrard, but I can't stand that other dude's voice in DCD. It's unnecessary.

Feel the same. Its so conventional and uninspiring compared to Gerrards. You'd think it'd ground the listener but it can be annoying.

Jimmy Scott, "Nothing Compares 2 U" -- One of the all-time saddest songs manages to get even more heartwrenchingly poignant.

Made me remember his contribution to Twin Peaks...

Jimmy Scott - Sycamore Trees

Just... heart wrenching.

They have a lot of gems but this was one that brought me to tears when I first listened...

The Magic of Bulgarian Voices & music - " Kalimanko Denkou"

I originally discovered the beautiful Bulgarian choir when I went looking for and found this absolutely beautiful song that had haunted me in the latter parts of Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love" and was used in Werner Herzog's "Nosferatu"...

Rustavi - Tsintskaro

I was passing by the spring.

There I met a beautiful woman with a jug on her shoulder.

I spoke a word to her and she left, offended.

I was passing by the spring.

The search function is disabled, otherwise I'd check to see if anyone's mentioned it.

The Into The Wild soundtrack, mostly ukulele and mandolin from the hands of Eddie Vedder, makes me sad every time I hear it.

I did up a little list of some unmentionables in here a few days ago but for some reason I never bothered to post it. Hmm..

The Cinematic Orchestra - Opening Titles. This track was used superbly in the documentary The Crimson Wing - Mystery Flamingos.

The Cinematic Orchestra - Arrival of the Birds. This stop-motion was pumped out 2 weeks ago and is easily one of the best I've ever seen in terms of time lapse shorts. You probably owe it to yourself to simply view it, let alone the music. TCO also like to generally do "suites" in their albums that are divided by the tracklist so here is the full accompaniment including the track Transformation.

The Cinematic Orchestra - To Build A Home & That Home. The first track has had its first section edited out and the song itself is beautiful to in its own right, but this is the only version on Youtube that contains a good mix with That Home.

Joe Hisaishi - La Pioggia (piano & 9 Cellos version). Makes me almost weep every damn time.

Joe Hisaishi - Ever Love. Probably my favourite Hisaishi piece of all time - a perfect fusion of piano, strings, and wind. Always get a dopamine hit with this one.

Joe Hisaishi - Departures (w/ London Symphony Orchestra). The depressing magic happens at 1:50 mark.

Yoko Kanno - Piece by Ten. Probably one of her more bleak compositions.

Yoko Kanno - Very Little Wishes. An old favourite but always a goodie.

Yoko Kanno - Farewell. Second half hits me hard every damn time.

Yoko Kanno - Friends. Someone already threw up Separated from Wolf's Rain, so this is more of an accompaniment than anything else.

Just bumping this because I've been listening to music that I've discovered here for days, and it's just... I'm speechless.

I hope more can be added.
