Muv-Luv was originally a visual novel trilogy by the company Âge. It's one of the best-selling visual novel series of all time, and the Total Eclipse anime that aired a little while back is an adaptation of one of the random spinoffs. The original story hasn't been animated yet - it's made up of Muv-Luv Extra, Unlimited and Alternative (Alternative is the one that everyone gets excited about. Imagine a mixture of Gundam and Starship Troopers.) There was a recent kickstarter for an official localization, although it's been fan-translated for years now:

Anyway, so yeah, the TSFs, or Tactical Surface Fighters, are just ripe for a good game where you play as one.
The Tank-class BETA seen here obviously don't have any final animations right now. The HUD is also less fleshed out than TSF Forefront's. They're making progress though, quite quickly from what I can tell. I also really like how UE4's PBR workflow is making this look. Makes it look a lot more realistic than the flat-ish lighting of TSF Forefront.
What IS TSF Forefront, you ask? There was ANOTHER Muv-Luv fan game with TSFs in development?
Yes, there is.
Here's an old thread about it:

I initially made this thread about thinking it was TSF Forefront, but it's not.
Gif related - For anyone unaware, TSF Forefront was a fan-made game by a group called Little Meteor, based on the Muv-Luv franchise. The team working on TSF Forefront announced a while back that they were moving to UE4 for development. It's been ages since we heard from them.
This particular project said they were moving to UE4 in 2014 or so, but there haven't been any updates from them in a while.
Steamでの販売を目指しております。みんなでロボットを動かして共闘したり競ったりできるゲームを作りたいと思っています!
We're aiming for a Steam release and want to make a game in which everyone can coop/compete in high octane robot action!
