ok a mod changed my avatar because it was too big. no problem, so i resized it to 86x120, saved it and uploaded it. i check out my updated avatar on here and the specs say 90x126. now im using this avatar which is hosted on espn.com's servers and the image is 65x90 but once i put the url for my avatar it resizes to 90x125.

what gives?

The forum stretches it to width = 90 and height = equivalent.

The old forum stretched avatars to 90 wide automatically, I guess this one is doing the same.
