My Hero Academia (Shonen Jump) move over pirates, ninjas, reapers, its Hero time

It would be wild if Deku killed Chisaki. Guess it would have to be toga/twice out of nowhere or his powers blowing back or something.
That might've been the best panel in the chapter considering what it signifies, really well-put I must say. And I think there's no ambiguity there, if it was Chisaki's death and not his own he'd probably see Chisaki's body/corpse from third-person POV as usual, not like this.

It's ominous it's either Chisaki death because he has no future or Nighteye considering the look he had
I messed up my joke.

I'd describe this entire arc as rough tbh. The enemies weren't very interesting, a lot of the fights weren't very clear, and while I don't consider it a plot hole I find it very shocking they didn't use any of the temporary quirk erasing bullets this arc. Or even just the fact only one dude used the quirk booster despite that shit making you crazy strong.

Either way, I'd like it if the author took a few weeks break after this arc to take a break and plan out his next arc a little better.

Best parts of this arc involved Kirishima, funny enough

Wow, that was intense, holy shit. I'd bet Nighteye is dead already, tbh. That last panel...

And dude when the fuck did they take eraserhead?

Eh. I wasn't that big a fan of his fight with Fatgum, but I did love him on patrol and taking down razor blade guy. Honestly, I'm just not a fan of Kirishima ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah that kind of bugged me too. I wonder if the author needed to gloss through certain events so he could keep on schedule with the story or something? Like that was supposed to happen last week but he didn't want it this week or something?

I don't think this is the case, if i remember correctly the authors have 1 or 2 chapters in advance of what they are doing right now, so this must have been planned.

I really liked the chapter besides the art. I don't even think the paneling was off, but the art alone dragged what could be a godlike chapter to an ok one.
I think it would be better if he had a bigger pause but I imagine he don't want to leave us in a cliffhanger.

About what the black panel means, I think it is clear that he saw a death, the problem is to know what death he saw, his, Mirio's or even Eri's.

Edit: The art was so bad that I almost forgot about 20% happening. So that's the new "going 100% when things get rough" for Deku? I mean it isn't enought to break him, but I can't imagine how much time his body can keep up with it.

If Nighteye does die here than he would be such a waste of a character. I do not care if he dies because he got no development. He will just be a stepping for other characters future development.

Ehh... Better him than Mirio. Mirio is the best thing that happenned since Kamino, with Camie just behind.

Deku's story w/ OFA ends one of two ways

a) he develops a "muscle form" like All Might has in order to absorb it
b) he passes it on and goes for some sort of alternative power set

Been made pretty clear that a normal human body is just not going to be able to absorb backlash from the full power after this many hosts.

Again muscle form is AM true form. He just developed a way to keep it after his body was dried up by the surgeries.
Deku needs to work out a lot and maybe grew up about 30 cm to handle it.

His "puff out pose" bodybuilding analogy would indicate that no, it was always its own thing. It's just that his "normal form" didn't used to be a shriveled up husk.

Was it Nighteye who organized this infiltration? Who authorized it?

I want to see someone held accountable for the botching of this mission.

I don't think that's gonna be the case at all. Deku's not likely going to get a "muscle form" given that he's a modern shounen MC and that isn't what's "cool" to have these days. I would think that he's as buff as he's going to get and the lightning shroud will remain as his version of OFA.

The only reason there's a problem with him holding the full 100% power is so that the story can use the time-honored shounen power scaling to make him eventually reach godhood but have to scrap it out all the way there. His body being able to use more and more of OFA is the equivalent of the power level increases in other series.

Like LockRock said it is his fault. It is funny that people were bashing the character before but he was really right in hindsight.

It's definitely the equivalent of DBZ's arbitrary increases, but the fact that he keeps getting permanently injured each time he uses it at a high level might be a sign that the author is trying to make the drawbacks real (a la HxH and its take on "Super Saiyan")

Place your bets, you are going to be happy, mad, or really mad about the "face".
I mean it is a still shot, but I am getting too hyped and there is no way Bones can live up to the hype I am building.

Shigaraki face?

If so, I'm betting into something like this:

That face never affected me as much as it did everyone else, I always preferred his face in the small panels and the panel that only showed his smile when he was walking away from Deku after saying he'd kill him next time he saw him.
I loved the latter because it immediately made me feel disgusted and the first thought that came into my mind was how "vile"(that word specifically) Shiggy is.
So that's what I'm watching for.
Can't get excited, already got spoiled last week. ;D

I'll simply think the manga did it better.
That preview still makes me angry, I didn't even want to see that scene until the episode.

I didn't want anime watchers to see it in the preview. It is supposed to be a surprise and shock. Though they of course will want to hype the episode.....

Before Mirio got shot I kept wondering whether this was going to be some kind of swerve and instead the sacrifice for this mission would end up being Eraserhead (something about the way he got nicked by Toga got me suspicious that he'd end up dead, quirkless, or disabled worse than the Nomu beatdown, if only to have this arc have wider and more immediate repercussions for UA itself).

Instead we got Nighteye almost certainly dead and Eraserhead kidnapped. So that works out!

(also now I'm wondering about Narrator Deku saying that it was the start of his long internship... like, was that supposed to be a metaphor for how long a morning this has been for everybody, or some ironic sarcasm? Because even if Nighteye somehow survives hooked up to machines for the rest of his life I don't see how he's staying an intern there)

Yeah, even if he survives he would need to retire with that damage.

Easy answer is Narrator Deku is really fucking drunk as he's telling us this tale and some details just get blurry in his head. Don't worry too much about what the old man's saying and just focus on the sparkle in his eye when he says them!

It's the longest arc. Narrator Deku must operate under chapter length opposed to in world time.

Or he will continue on as an intern under Rock Lock.

I mean that also explains his whole "I wish I had said something more to Iida because of what happened [editor's note: Iida used one hand instead of two to do his gestures for a little while]" thing
