Thats pretty great man. I recently went 180 as well and im dedicating my time how to succesfully invest in stocks. Maybe ill get to make a thread like this in a couple of years.

good for you! read and learn from the best in the industry and then test it out. You'll be great at it if you devote yourself to it.

Airan, we're pushing out internationally, slowly but surely. There's some low-quality fakes out there, but that comes with any successful product. It's an ongoing ip battle. What's happening to fidget cube with all the counterfeits is mind-boggling and pretty terrifying just from a inventor/entrepreneur standpoint. It throws a new wrinkle into the crowdfunding bubble.

SenjutsuSage... I was about to say ;)

As an architect, please, don't buy a McMansion and hire a real professional to design a real house for you. Those McMansions are all hideous and just scream "new-rich in town". Go check some housing designs at www.dezeen.com or look up contemporary houses in pinterest and I'm sure you will be amazed by what a real architect can do. You'll be happier with your spent money, I assure you.

^ Also saw them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond up here in Canada; alson on Amazon up here. Already had a blue one, so bought a while one.

The water pools a bit in the tub with it on, but it saves a lot of headache from hair going down the drain. It really works.

You're not understanding the concept. It moves the hair into a narrow area on the side of the plug and then the water can flow over the hair and down the middle so that it doesn't block the drain. What you've got yourself there is the flat earth product and this dude has the round earth product.

Thanks for the support, everyone =) Hollycat, you're hired.

Things have been going great since my last update. We just launched the bathroom sink version called SinkShroom and fulfilled all the Kickstarter backers in the nick of time. Early indications are that it will be a nice little sis to TubShroom.

We've had several threads go viral on facebook as well as positive buzz in various media. We were on HSN again and a certain popular investor show reached out to us, but that's up in the air, naturally. We're in Bed, Bath & Beyond nationwide and it's doing terrific in there. We also just got into Ace and a few more chains are lined up to take us in.

We've been approached by some big players, but now isn't the right time to do anything of that sort. The goal is to become the complete drain protection company for every drain in the home. I think we'll get there, but momma never said it would be easy... :)
Awesome :3. I call coco.

A friend of mine here in NE bought one now. These are going to take over the world

Haha, this is awesome. My girlfriend made me buy one of these two months ago when we moved into our new house. I had no idea it was a gaffers invention till now. I just texted her and she told me I had to make sure I give it a thumbs up in the thread. It really does work really well. Thank you for creating it.

I get entirely where your coming from. I made a decision 7 years ago that through luck, hard work, and being in the right place at the right time ended up in resulting in me co owning a laboratory installation business and we have been really sucessful. Not as successful as you of course. It takes a lot of work to maintain and takes up a lot more of your personal time but man does it feel good to feel more in control of your own destiny. Obviously everything is still not in your control and there are always still bumps in the road but there is a certain pride you feel when you have ownership of something big or successful that I never felt when I worked for someone else.

Thanks :) That's awesome, dude. Entrepreneurship is not for everyone but, for many, it's as close to an "adventure" as you can get. A definite roller coaster ride of sorts. I read somewhere that less than 4% of patents out there have any real commercial value... that's crazy. People will tend to have more strike outs than homers, but you gotta keep on hackin' as they say... "Can't score if you don't shoot" (par.)- JR Smith

Just got one. So why the tub shrooms name?

1) it's shaped sort of like a mushroom 2) mushrooms are cute & generally are related to pleasant thoughts 3) abnormal names are much easier to trademark/protect and 4) most importantly... real gamers love 'shrooms ;)

This thing has been in lightning deals like everyday for the past month. Is this like an unofficial price drop, but made to look like a perpetual lightning deal to keep up its visibility? OP must be selling tons of these things. Congrats man. Haven't bought any myself though since my shower drains are wide.

It's funny to see this thread pop back up. I bought two of these this past weekend and put them in our 2nd and 3rd floor showers. So far, so good. Congrats on your success, OP!

holy shit.. I bought a tub shroom and it is awesome. (actually I gave it as a stocking stuffer gift to my wife... one of those 'this is actually a gift for me' type of gifts :p

well done OP.

My last roommates hair clogged my shower so bad I had to call a plumber and pay $120 to get them to snake it (I tried myself but couldn't get it), so F it, I just bought 1 for each of my showers.

How did you develop the product? Did you hire a product designer and a material engineer? Or did you do it all by yourself? If so, how did you gain the knowledge to make a design, choose the right material and make prototypes?

I always wonder how it goes because most inventors seem to have engineering degrees.

This is a good question. OP?

Thanks for your support, guys and gals!

finowns, all I can say is that it's healthy enough for us to be able to re-invest quite a bit into brand building, growth, and R&D on extending the line.

TCRS, the mcmansions thing was a joke haha I already have everything I need in life

George Claw M.D., not a permanent drop, just to keep visibility up

Pestilence11, we did it all in-house. My partner and I aren't designers by trade or formal education, but we have that instinct in us. That doesn't mean we don't/won't consult with designers from time to time on other projects.

How did you guys come up with the idea, OP?

My friends and I always casually brainstorm when we're together for inventions. Between the three of us we have someone in engineering, design, and advertising which seems like it'd be enough to get something off the ground and make it marketable but we can never come up with a simple idea to even use as a jumping off point to something worthwhile.

I'm always fascinated by how people come up with invention ideas; especially the simple ones.

I bought a couple of these for our showers. My wife sheds so bad we were seriously using drano every month or so in the shower she uses the most. I've had this installed for like a month and half now, and it has worked fantastically. No clogs whatsoever. Just clean the hair out once a week and we're good.

Hey I bought one of these and I had to return it unfortunately. It didn't fit snugly in my bathtub drain so it didn't work. Disappointed. Guess I would need something bigger

+1 for the tubshroom. I bought one last year and reading that the inventor is a fellow gaffer warms the cockles of my heart.

They told me playing video games would lead you nowhere!

Hawks, I would wager the vast majority of inventions arise out of necessity. My partner and I both have long-haired daughters and wives and he has long hair as well. They are also pet lovers so combine all that and you'll get clogged drains more often than you'd like. So we tested the stuff out there and nothing really worked great. If you and your friends keep your eyes open long enough and continually brainstorm, you'll likely find something out there that enough people have a problem with that doesn't have a great solution yet.

Hi Erv, unfortunately TS only works for about 99% of the drains out there. There's a few abnormal ones that we've come across and it's really hard to accommodate the 1% without hurting the performance for the remaining 99%. Still, we're r&d'ing some potential minor tweaks that might help with your drain in future revisions. I'll wager your drain is close to 1.75" wide instead of 1.5"... is that right?

On Amazon's Deal of the Day today, 45% off, at $10.99

I just use the metal mesh things that sit inside of drains. That, combined with my recent divorce, has lessened my need for something like this. But this is certainly an efficient process for those who need something for this.

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.

I think that's just one of those personalized deals. I get it showing up all the time since I looked at it from this thread.

Won't fit any of my drains though.. but did the OP get his mansion yet?

This thread reminds me I saw these at the local Bed Bath and Beyond when I was there a month or so ago. Congrats on the success, OP.

I bought one as well, mostly because I remembered this thread. Good stuff OP. The thing seems to move a bit too much but the shower drain in this apartment might be abnormal big.

I ordered some of the sink shrooms (on back order), but I'm still waiting for the shower stall size to come out... :(

I'm fairly certain I've saved quite a lot of money on a plumber by having one of these. I bought one for my landlady a few weeks ago and she loves it too.

Reeeeally thinkin' about that Sink Shroom.
