As someone who owns a small business who is doing pretty well right now,
do be careful with your money.
You don't want to be that guy during the real estate boom making 2 million a year who lost everything because the spent like it was never going to stop.
We've had a board game in Target for just over a year that has sold a couple hundred thousand copies, and while I hope it will be evergreen and sell forever and ever, there isn't a lot of guarantee that will be the case.
I'm in the position where our product (board games) is repeatable and we can publish more. Your invention may be less repeatable.
I remember reading about your success and that was definitely inspiring for me and, I'm sure, many others around these parts.
Thank you again to all the kind words from everyone. It really means a lot. The mcmansions thing was just a joke... rest assured, the money will not be wasted.
OP how you plan to protect your product from the Chinese knockoffs which Amazon will gladly sell for a third of your price?
Amazon is loaded with Chinese shit these days.
It's very annoying, but we just battle each one as they come up. Legal channels, take-down requests to Amazon, test buys, etc. Working with a firm to try to go after the source(s) in China as well. It's a long and expensive road, but if you don't fight it, the knock offs will be everywhere within a few weeks (see Drain Wig). Unfortunately, it's a reality of doing this kind of business...
Product is not in avaiable in Germany... ;-)
Nice idea OP! You deserve it.
Thanks! We ship to Germany via our website. fyi takes 2-3 weeks to arrive though
Congratulations on the success.
Great to read things like this.
Will you continue to invent new things or concentrate on this one?
I'm going to concentrate on this until it can be safely set on "auto pilot" with the right team running the show. sometimes I'm too slow to delegate because I am a sort of a perfectionist in certain things. but I have something totally different I'm going to come out with soon, the earnings of which I intend to earmark for charity (if there are any earnings lol). If the mods allow, I'd like to live blog the process here on neogaf to garner feedback, advice, and even help.
Holy shit, I designed some packaging for you OP (it was a contest over at 99designs if I remember correctly), anyway, my design wasn't ultimately used but damn... small world
Congrats!
What? crazy coincidence! Sorry we didn't go with yours!
