As much as I want some more good songs, I kind of don't want there to be one next episode. I loved the super fast pace of Part 1, and I think a song would slow down the episode too much. It also might not feel as epic as the first part did.

Tonight on the Synchtube we're going to be watching the new episode as usual, but since this is the end of a two part story we're also going to be watching the first episode again as a pre-show thing if anyone wants to refresh their memory or just see the whole thing in one go.
Part 1 will start half an hour earlier than last week's stream time at 10:30pm BST (http://tinyurl.com/3fxn4xe) but if you just want to see the new episode then join us at the same time as last week, 11pm BST (http://tinyurl.com/3wgz4oq).
Thanks to Firehead we now have our own TF2 server so we shouldn't have any of the problems we had last week of hilariously unbalanced teams and hopefully since it's a PonyGAF only server we could get some more people on voice chat. The server is password protected so keep an eye out on the Steam group and/or this thread for the password after the stream finishes.

I refuse to believe that Fluttershy wasn't in some part inspired by the queen of the Flutter ponies.
There should be a sonic rainboom-esque episode where Fluttershy uses the utter flutter.

And while we're posting comics, crappyunicorn has a great 6 part comic on the imprisonment of Discord.

Most likely this ;). With the way he reacted right before getting hit, it seemed to me that he simply thought it wasn't going to work and was bored of them trying to stop him. Either way, I loved Discord and I'm all for smart, recurring villains but this IS a kids show. I wouldn't be surprised if they just had that rushed ending because of timing. They could do something with it like you imagine, but if they don't it wouldn't be surprising to me in the least.

It's certainly interesting to think about. Twilight's magic was shown to be useless against Discord in the previous episode, but here it's restoring things back to their original form. This might be the first time he's ever witnessed magic strong enough to turn back his abilities. While his plans definitely focused on dividing the girls, they also seemed to be a test of Twilight's abilities. Perhaps his return will focus on usurping those abilities to his own cause. I suppose only time will tell.

Actually in this case, it could be the Elements of Harmony boosting her abilities. Though the idea of Discord letting them defeat him so he can come back later with another plan sounds way better then him letting them turn him to stone because he thought they would fail for no good reason.

I think Discord actually wanted to lose.

Celestia + Luna couldn't beat him (not without the Elements of Harmony). Twilight couldn't even put a dent in his magic. His only apparent weakness is harmony, since it's the opposite of discord. And even that's not enough to kill him, just to seal him away for a while until the spell inevitably breaks, sooner or later.

So what's the first thing he does when he's free? Steals the talismans of the Elements of Harmony. Good job. Now he's basically unstoppable. Second thing he does? Gives the talismans back to Twilight, and starts toying with her.

He already won. He already had chaos. It was too easy. Sure, he enjoyed his chaos, but playing with Twilight was more interesting. He played with the mane cast a little, but turning them was just a means to an end in his slow turning of Twilight (as evidenced by his rushed turning of Fluttershy). Twilight was the real object of his attention.

I think that if Twilight had stayed turned, Discord would have been disappointed. When she used a little bit of harmony to fix that patch of ground, Discord was pleased. When Twilight (and the mane cast) beat him, he obviously reacted negatively, but it probably caused him pain (which might actually have been a desired sensation for someone so powerful), and if he knew Twilight was going to win, he probably would have liked to stretch the game out longer. I'm sure that if Twilight hadn't won, he would've given her many more chances to win. Until Twilight became boring.

whenever the ponies wear shoes, they always wear them on their front hooves, the ones they often use for hand tasks
