Holy fuck, so its confirmed

In my dream world, they would just say here is an extended Avengers 2 trailer, and as it nears the end of what we have previously seen, Tony would say he was bringing in more people to help, you would hear the familiar zip of Spideys' web and the camera would pan till you would see Spider-man on the wall with Dr Strange, Black Panther and maybe Antman. end scene and event.

Half the people in this thread would have heart attacks.

Tony Stark reading a newspaper. He flips open the page and we see it's the Daily Bugle with some spider-menace headline.

That's all they need to do.

They just cast Doctor Strange in a process that has lasted for months of rumors and you think Carol and Black Panther somehow snuck by all the way into casting without the internet hearing anything about it? I mean, great if true, but that doesn't seem too plausible?

Chadwick Boseman has been rumored to be Black Panther for over a year so it's not like a casting for that character would be coming out of nowhere.

Don't really want a Thor reboot and Female Thor unless they keep the current Thor movies going. No such compromise if it ever happens, please. lol

I think Marvel has realized they can't do Cap 4, Thor 4, etc, because a) people will tire of them and b) actors will get too expensive.

I think they're going to stick to trilogies. So I expect Cap 3 to be the last Cap, Thor 3 to be the last Thor, etc.

Quick, someone link me to a live blog or a stream. I have no idea what to watch it on.

and here's what they've just mentioned, which is what I've been saying since the first page of this thread:

Just to update, the Hollywood trades announced this week Marvel was in talks with actor Benedict Cumberbatch to play the lead in a proposed Doctor Strange movie. Also, the trailer to Avengers: Age of Ultron was released last week after it was leaked in advance of its planned debut on tonight's Agents of SHIELD episode.

But neither of those announcements seem to warrent the special event treatment Marvel has rolled out for today's event.

Eh, they did away with the numbers to avoid this. They have one trilogy in Iron Man, and everything else is just 'comic title + story title.'

Whenever these threads start, I have zero hype. Earlier today, I'd be thrilled about something like Black Panther being announced or more Phase 3 details. Then the tweet quotes start, and I try to contain my hype, but then it becomes impossible and I turn into a sort of Hype Hulk.

Within minutes, I have gone from zero-hype, hoping for a neat announcement to hyped out of my fucking skull, and anything less than a Spidey announcement shatters my world.

I would only want Spider-Man in the MCU if Marvel had full creative control over the character, which isn't happening. I don't want ASM associated with what Marvel has going.

and here's what they've just mentioned, which is what I've been saying since the first page of this thread:

Disney has always been pretty extravagant with their media events though even when they were minor announcements. It's happened many times where theme park fans get all exited for big ride announcements and the press event is for some stupid parade or holiday gimmick announcement

Oh man....I just thought of the perfect way to do this. There are rumors that at the end of Avengers 2
Cap forms his own team of New Avengers-and it has among others Falcon and War Machine-they should all be lined up as Cap is walking in front of them giving some inspiring speech, and as he gets to the end of the line, the last person standing in the lineup is Spidey. Cut to credits.

I know its a long shot, but Spiderman entering the Marvel Studios flicks makes perfect sense for all parties involved.

Sony needs money, Marvel wants Spiderman. The Spidey franchise needs a boost in the arm after the disappointing returns on Amazing 2, what better solution than to "lease" him to Marvel Studios and rake in the profits as part of the Avengers or something? It's a win win all around.
