pure perfection, the way he forces you to use everything you learned from the moment you start the game
from is gonna have a tough time topping this one

I LOOOVED isshin fight, it got me same feeling when I watched last fight in Sword of Stranger movie.

It was hype as FUCK, i never thought I see a game capture that same feeling.

Too hard and comes out off ass.
You even have to repeat geni and that's cheap.
At least soul of cinder was connected to the games.

But Gail takes my vote. So epic and not cheap. Same with Ludwig for music alone

Can't say I was a huge fan of his moveset once he grabbed the spear, but it was still a pretty cool fight. Personally, I found the optional version of the Owlfather to be the better endgame fight.

Both Isshin fights are GOAT and he is 100% fair. Plus, from a story standpoint there is a lot of weight behind it.

Players should have done their homework by then.

This is the boss. The first time it took me, I don't know, 8 hours to beat? On my final playthrough, I did it on my first try, without even have to resuscitate. The sense of growth and accomplishment I felt playing Sekiro is unparalleled.

OP, you can't make a thread like this because any other answer is objectively wrong. Poor that.

Isshin Glock Saint is King.

I actually think Genichiro is the better Sekiro boss, but as far as final bosses go, yep, he's up there.

I'm a sucker for the Solid VS. Liquid fight at the end of MGS4, it's not great gameplay but two old men kicking the shit out of each other for ten minutes a decade after their conflict began (for us) was awesome.

Yes he's iconic already, but there are many other iconic bosses as well.

Liquid Snake, Vergil, Nemesis, Sephiroth, Kazuya and Devil in Tekken 2, and many more.

You really can't.

Isshin to me is almost the perfect final boss:
- Really challenging
- Tests your skill with the various core mechanics you've been learning and mastering through the game and doesn't rely on gimmicks.
- Is a test of skill instead of endurance. Win or lose the battle is usually over in less than 10 minutes
- Cool location and visuals.

The only nitpick I have is that the music was kinda meh. It fits and doesn't distract from the fight, but it's not particularly memorable

Raven Beak was a lot of fun. Had a good mix of clear skill checks, and short but satisfying cutscenes.

Can't really comment on Sekiro's final boss since I can't make it to him. I've watched it online and it looks super cool.

Wizpig from Diddy Kong Racing >>>> ornstein & smough>>>> >>>other boss from dark souls>>>any Bloodborne boss>>>> mike tyson from punch out

Dark souls 3 soul of cinder is way better, has 3 different "styles" and switches mid fight, forcing you to adapt, also, it's not oversimplified R1/L1/jump

I just did a replay of the game (NG/NG+/NG++). I really liked the game this time but I have a problem with Isshin. It's a challenging and tense battle but not memorable for me. And honestly, I don't think it makes sense that he's fighting you at the end.

I kind of agree if we look only from the challenge/combat point of view, he's a really good boss.

But if I take it as the whole, many bosses are better (like Owl or Demon of Hatred if only looking Sekiro).

Gwyn or German are much more memorable and "better" final boss for me. Also the Lord of Cinder is quite a good boss with a very good connection to the lore.

Being challenging is not enough to be a good boss for me

It's the best boss fight overall between the atmosphere, the mechanics, how he has so many moves and phases…

I still rewatch sometimes the video of my first kill, was just too good.

Lots of cool boss fights posted already, but... What about having to fight against a fucking dragon?

Daimon was a pretty cool boss fight too, but Grigori was just on another scale.

Also this one :

Final boss, world map on the distance, pretty cool music, monkeys and bananas. Can't get any better than this.

Only problem with Isshin for me was I fought him after just spending hours defeating Owlfather, so by comparison he was super easy and I beat him on my 2nd go.

Still an absolutely brilliant boss though. No one can touch From when it comes to bosses.

tfw after many hours of gameplay the combat really clicks and you become a GOD of button pressing.

Isshin's good but for me, the GOATS are :

- MGS3 : The boss fight.
- MGS4 : Solid-Ocelot's fight.
- Shadow of the colossus : giant statue
-MGS Rising : senator Armstrong
- DMC3 : Virgil fight
- DMC5 : voltaic black knight fight (not a final boss but that g'damned theme during the fight...sheeeiiiit)
- Castlevania Lords of shadow : Satan fight (again, amazing OST).
- Zone of the enders 2 : Anubis fight.

- Most of Ace Combat final levels
- Armored core 4 & For answer

I could probably throw another 10+ games in that list but those are the ones on top of my head, which brings me to : while I absolutely adored Sekiro, I don't think that there's anything particularly "stellar" or GOAT about its bosses (final or not) when compared to many classics of yore.
Are the good and/or memorable ? Absolutely.
Are they the greatest of all time ? (Isshin especially), not really in my honest opinion.
Then again, different people= different tastes so...

Good answer! I remember fighting that guy while being kinda high and thinking that was the most I had in a videogame since a long time.

This g'damned track man...it makes the fight 10x more fun.
Also, it reminded me of the fantastic boss-fights in MGS Rising (again, mostly because of the fun, awesome metal-esque track)

Yes, yes! Any game with metal soundtrack, for me, gets a +10 in the funfactor score. Games like SMT IV, MGR, F-Zero X, DOOM '16 and Eternal... They wouldn't be the same without those amazing soundtracks.
