Name One Game From the Past That You Wished Could Have Been Patched

Shadowrun - Might be the greatest game most people never heard of on 360. It needed just one more patch to fix a few issues.

True, but if it was a modern day release, that missing content would just be a DLC pack or two rather than a patch.

This. The gameplay is so close to being perfect. It only needed a few tweaks. They should re-release it on the xbla.

Alpha Protocol is another good one.
 
Tomb Raider III, PS1.

It has a savegame bug. Basically, if you save between two points in this one level, the bug shuts a door which has to be open for you to progress.

But, hey, TR3 allows you to restart from a hub. Just redo that sequence of levels from scratch, right?

Wrong. The bug shuts the door every time you get to that level, regardless of how you get there.

So infuriating.
 
Shadowrun - Buff Dwarves slightly, add stat tracking, fix parties being split up, add an experience system to entice casual players (with achievements of course).

Good point, I remember those! Game was much improved. I remember thinking, too, 'holy shit the graphics are way better.' That was crazy how they did that.

I guess that's when Sega was still the 'good Sega,' and acted with their consumer's interests at heart.

I actually think a line like "This guy are sick" adds some character to the game. I hope that if they ever remake the game, they don't change a thing with the translation (because we call know that they would start with little things like translation fixes, they add in a bunch of new bullshit that would ruin the game)

Someone already nailed it with MGS4. Trophies or not, they really need to patch in a full install option.

This. Such a good game that could have been fantastic with some fixes to bugs, closing map glitches, and releasing the other maps that were pretty much done.

Still play this occasionally, and it's still very rewarding. One of the best team games ever.
 
Jet Set Radio Future. Some parts of that game had some horrible slowdown I felt my life slow down with the very game's framerate. A solid 60 fps throughout would be fantastic.
 
I'd be down with the KOTOR2 idea, but that game needed more than a simple patch. Frankly, the amount of content that got dropped due to the rushed release would justify a whole expansion pack (KOTOR 2: Now with an ending that makes sense!)

It's a shame, because I really liked it.

It's still getting unofficial patches though. The biggest issues with the game were the clunky combat and the awful endgame, I'd say.

Square already fixed that line and a few others when they released it on the PC. There is no chance of them leaving it in for a remake.

"This guy are sick" was corrected in the PC version. I totally agree about Xenogears.
 
Neotokyo to fix the lean glitch mainly the left mean but both leans are semi broken. Ironically though despite only an EXTREMELY small player base and no update in well over a year... it has come to my attention the devs are back at it making a patch to finally fix this very thing.

It's an off the clock thing though so who knows when it'll be done or if they'll ever have enough time to push it out to the world at large.
 
every gta - add mid-mission checkpoints (i think gay tony did this for the first time but can't remember)

kingdom hearts 1 - put camera control to the right analog stick instead of L1 & R1

mgs4 - full install and theater mode

dead space 2 - LET ME SKIP THE FUCKING CUTSCENES

That's how they would release it. But it should be a patch because the game was pretty broken.
 
Oblivion PS3. If you catch vampirism it's impossible to get cured on the GOTY edition. Absolutely unacceptable that it never got patched.
 
Space Station Silicon Valley is an obvious (and sad) one, you couldn't fully complete the game and play a minigame unlocked after this. DMA had to release a cheat code to do that...

Zelda OOT was another one (well, for the losers that got the buggy green blood version). The original release had a song that had arabic chanting in the temple of fire (adult Link), mahometans complained, so Nintendo hanged the song for a worse one, changed Ganondorf's blood to green, and this added a whole lot of bugs to the game (riding a horse with fishing pole, while flying or something). Also, treat boots as items, so you don't have to navigate through the menus to use and remove them.

They could have patched Mario Kart DS to prevent snaking (yeah it's fun for a while, but try to win a race online against someone with an asiatic name..., beat the hell out of me, and I had earned the 3 stars in my name... fuck it)

Smash Brawl, they could have removed tripping (or making it optional)

Zelda PH, they forgot to add enemies in the game, so they could have fixed that...

Lufia 2 - fix the boss at the end of the ancient cave

Starfox Adventures - Put back the battle with general scales (or whatever his name is). It was the only thing keeping me playing the game, and they stopped the epic fight to add a shitty end boss (yes, it sucked, came from nowhere, and the game wasn't flight-based, so it was wrong).
 
Severance Blade of Darkness. Has my favorite fighting system of all time and has a really good atmosphere. I really wish it worked on Win7.

This. I'm kind of surprised it hasn't been given a face lift and released on XBL and PSN. Such a great game, and such a buggy mess.

Well, first of all, this isn't true.

Secondly, mahometans? Really? Are you from the 19th century or were you trying to look smart?
 
Today's correct answer is Streets of Rage 3/Bare Knuckle 3. You could just tell that the game needed a bit more development time to get the bugs worked out and that motorcycle stage actually implemented. If they could've seen to those things then it could've been the GOAT in the genre.

On another note, I wonder what's happening with Streets of Rage Remake?

I came in to nominate AP as well. The vision was great. The execution, while good IMO, was not great.

Also didn't know that, I read on a local magazine the internet rumor apparently, mind blown. Still I had the superior version of the game.

Because Activision refuses to acknowledge its existence. And because they'd probably change things for the worst. I'll stick to fan patches.

Well, if you allow for buggy games, I really wish Trespasser had been given the time it needed before it was released.

-Fix the glitch.

-Allow editing the movesets of in-game wrestlers. You can completely alter the names & appearance of them to the point they become completely different people, making it possible to update the game with newer guys but you can't update their moves or even feuds?

-Is it even possible to knock AI opponents off the cage walls?

-reimplement the GBC storyline to just be a CAW storyline.
 
If you could give the players new moves, wouldn't that lessen the intensive to sell you next years version?
