I was watching "Review" the other day thinking the format and style had a lot of similarities to Nathan For You, and sure enough its produced by the same parent company. Abso lutely Productions. I believe that's Eric Wareheims company?

Eric and Tim's, yeah. The home video footage from the company bumper is of Tim's dad.

So i only watched the Poo Yogurt clip on page 1, is this completely staged or is there some minor element of candid? I'm referring mostly to stuff like when he pretends to be talking to his mother about this place with poo yogurt, the dude he talks to on the street.

Anyhow, seems pretty funny spoof on these type of reality shows.

For the most part it's real. He writes his stuff ahead of time, but the reactions and such are real. Watch more episodes. Private Eye, Gas Station, and Reality Show are my favorites.

It's almost all real. He tries to gear things a certain way for sure and it's edited down carefully and his voiceover is very written, but they've talked about how the people seriously think this is a "help your business" type show. The see the offer and don't register that the show is for Comedy Central. I don't see what's fake about him talking to the guy on the street, that was probably not the first person that walked by and they probably grabbed him right after and got a release.

I wasn't insinuating it was fake in the first place.
I was curious, because it looked real, but other things i assumed to be staged (like the "I'm a regular guy in the neighborhood" dude).
Good to know they aren't, though.

Really great long-form article on Nathan Fielder and the show.

Fielder gradually honed his awkwardness as a comedic weapon. “I embraced that weird part of me,” he said. “Like, right now, I don’t want there to be awkwardness between us, and I want you to be comfortable, but it takes effort for me to do that. In the show, I’ll just let uncomfortable moments happen.” [...]

“Usually if someone gives you a social cue that he feels uncomfortable with something you’ve said, you’ll jump in with a caveat and move on. Everyone’s default state is this pleasantry state. My goal in the show is to undercut that as quickly as possible. If you really do let it sit, it’s sometimes amazing what comes out of people.”

Some of the stuff in that article (everything) sounds hilarious. I've introduced some friends to S1 thanks to CC throwing it on their site for free. I've seen through it a handful of times and it never gets old.

GOAT IN THE WATER

The scene where Nathan first meets the hon. Judge in the #ClawofShame episode is so funny. That's probably my favorite exchange:

"Is children better?"
"... Interesting question."

Who's making the season 2 thread?

Should be subtitled 'drink small child's pee'
Breads got first dibs I believe, being this op. If no one volunteers I can do it but I'm pretty busy rn.

Been rewatching the season again sporadically. In my head some episodes were much better than others but so far they're all pretty goddamn close. I continued to be baffled by this show. My most anticipated season premiere of the year

oh it is available for free now? i want to rewatch it, i only saw it at my friend's house since he has prime instant video

Claw of Shame was the first episode I watched. Loved it but haven't gotten to see much more since then. Found out it was up for streaming on Amazon Prime Instant. I've watched all of season 1 in a single sitting. So ready for season 2.

I have never heard of this show, but I watched the Poo Flavor Yogurt clip in the first page.

He sounds like Tina from Bob's Burgers.

Nathan for You Season 2 |OT| That's how I like to drink my smoothie.
Nathan for You Season 2 |OT| Something might happen here, and if it does...so what.

wizard of loneliness is probably best

Rewatching Season 1 as they're put up on On Demand here. Up to episode 4 with the fiance and Nathan has won her over. The Gas Station episode was still so damn hilarious, especially the whole bit about drinking a young boy's urine at the end.

And my vote is definitely for The Wizard of Loneliness title!

oh my god what

So much of this is already blowing my mind

"I'm not a nerd"

edit: holy shit he's sneak peeking some of season 2 in LA on 7/7 (I'm assuming later episodes since it will have premiered by then). can't wait.

Wow she's a keeper! My gf can't STAND cringe/embaressment comedy even though I find this hilarious. I like the guy, he seems educated and very well spoken, so when he comes up with these traps, I get such a kick because in a way he's right. Just that interview skit where he is using his presentation/tone to win over the interviewer is a great example of his clout.

Here's the direct link to Season 2 Trailer, the one above wasn't working for me

Oh my god
that "dumb Starbucks" thing that happened a couple months ago was him!
