Naughty Dog absolutely disgusting TLOU:R MP monetization

All I hope is that if you called out other devs/pubs for doing the exact same thing, you show some consistency and don't give ND a pass.

How? That thing wastes so much ammo and is best used at medium to long range. It sits inbetween the 9mm and revolver power wise and ROF wise as well. At close range, it's only "op" if you try mashing square like a dummy to melee someone to death. In no way is it actually overpowered.

And it costs a loadout point. Revolver and 9mm cost 0

Does this actually affect the MP balance?

From the sounds of people who are actually playing the game it doesn't... it doesn't sound like the "pay2win" crowd has a leg to stand on.

Are people deliberately missing the fact that the content can be used with any of the preset loadouts? The paid options are only for custom loadouts. That's it. And if you paid for it on the PS3 version, it carries over/cross-buy, but that's about it. I'm not a fan of DLC, but the level of people ignoring that all the content here is useable in game, without paying a cent extra. If you want to build a custom loadout for specific options, you can pay. It's not 'yeah, awesome!', but god the over-dramatic reactions in here are terrible.

maybe the dlc version of the guns have better shadows.? j/k

I'm new to all of The Last Of Us' MP, but it seemed to me all the DLC was in the form of helmets or masks, which as cool as some of them are, they seem pretty useless.

This actually shocked me, as well. I returned to playing the multiplayer after a break and noticed that there were locked weapons and perks. At first, I thought I just had to gain some new loadout points to unlock things or reset my profile completely, but then i saw the PSN listing pop up. Couldn't believe it, at first.

If the stuff wasn't available in the preset loadouts I'd be pissed but I think it's OK the way they've handled it. I do still think they should have been included but at least they didn't lock everything away completely.

lol at absolutely disgusting.

I couldn't get a MP match yesterday so I didn't even know this was going on.

But at least that was made F2P eventually.

You still had to buy an online pass though. Even if you redeemed the online pass for the Blu-ray copy of Uncharted 3's MP it wouldn't work on F2P.

So frankly, fuck Naughty Dog for essentially pulling the same thing again?

I wish I had a gun like The Enforcer that can down enemies in ~5 shots from about the same range as a long gun is usually efficient at.

Half of your clip can down one enemy even from far away. No pistol should be that good from that range. Don't even get me started on the upgrade stats.

I responded to say that people are overreacting. You responded to call out my response for basically being OT when your response to me was just as OT. OK...

You came into the thread talking about how the multiplayer is unimportant to you and stated that you only play ND games for single player. Not only does that have to do with the thread topic at hand, it's considered shitposting because you have no intentions on discussing, but rather derailing the thread to get upset when people call you out on your shitposting.

I dont' think Last of Us MP is any good. At least I'm not an ass about it.

I saw this as a new release on the blog yesterday under the PS3 content:
"Double Map Pack Bundle $12.99"

Is that already included in the PS4 version?

Because it also says "The Last of Us (all Cross-buy with PS4)".

The maps are all included. They probably just put the crossbuy message on everything.

Are they the same Last of Us DLC weapons in the PS3 version or something completely new? Because from my playtime of TLoU MP, I'd say they're much more efficent than the stock weapons.

They are the same ones but I don't personally think they are better. Honestly just the normal rifle or shotgun are all you need. If they were super op everyone would be using them which is not happening.

I honestly do find it strange that their are significantly more people defending the pay-to-unlock weapons/skills in this thread than I've seen in many other threads on the subject.

I mean, most of the time I see GAF go way overboard about this stuff in the other direction, making a huge deal out of it. Obviously it's not 1:1 the same posters, but this thread has a significantly different tone, and I'm not sure why that is exactly. It's kind of odd. A lot of incredibly dismissive posts in this thread.

Also, some (all?) of the skills/weapons being in preset loadouts is not the same thing as being able to equip them how you like, I'm not sure why some people are acting like them being that way makes this virtually a non-issue. Having the weapons/skills available in pre-set loadouts that probably aren't the combinations you want to use does not solve the issue.

I couldn't care less about cosmetic stuff, but weapons and especially skills being paid for really sucks. That's really too bad.

Why is no one calling out all these 10/10 reviews? I didn't even realize the original ps3 version had paid content.

Because most places review the game as a stand alone product... and not the DLC or how it may or may not create imbalances in the MP.

I honestly wouldn't take your opinion seriously since you were playing with ND devs last night....

What does that have to do with anything?

I've been playing the multiplayer since release date on PS3 nonstop and on PS4. I have a lot of experience in what is balanced and what is not balanced in this game. And doing community game nights, with Playstation community forumers and ND devs do not influence my feelings of the multiplayer.

I had no idea so your wrong and If everyone knew about it then are we getting this thread just now?
Because you are an uninformed consumer. I already made a post about this in the OT and I'm too lazy to dig it up, and I AM NOT DEFENDING SONY(just stressing this before someone calls me a shill
lol
) . Perhaps they did a bad job at this. But if anybody is going to be this upset over $5-10, then you should have bothered to have done some research before hand. This doesn't make it right, but this could have also been avoided.

Was very disappointed to see there was no way to unlock via in-game currency or playtime especially. Poor form.

Game is a heck of a lot of fun regardless, but there's no excusing a crummy business practice.

The bolded perks are fucking disgusting.

Do people put mean faces when they make these kind of threads?

I always wonder.

I always imagine people who write snarky responses like this are doing it with their screens on the floor because it's the closest they can get to literally looking down on the people they disagree with.

To be fair information like this tends to get buried under posts praising the game.

I don't think "they're just a different playstyle" is much of an excuse. Yeah, sure, it's a different playstyle that might not be better, but it's still something customers who didn't buy DLC will have to play by the rules to experience.

It's definitely nice that they're available as preset loadouts, but being able to mix and match and level your perks seems like kind of a big deal in TLOU's multiplayer, so I consider that small comfort. If this were a free-to-play game I think this system would actually be quite novel, but considering it's a retail game I don't really like it.
