Naughty Dog is currently hiring writer for Intergalactic

Is that high in the US?

Definitely a good wage, but the question is if you’ll get full time hours. The yearly total is $104k-$140k, but living in California one’s standard of living will be like that of someone making half that in a rural or semi-urban area (like Phoenix, as an example).

Housing costs in the US are the one thing that has ensnared everyone and are absurd compared to where we were ten years ago.

People are way invested in a developer/game they dont like, huh?

The number of ND/Intergalatic threads has been ridiculous

Outrage culture at its peak

Tweet doesnt mention Intergalatic. Its probably for their next project.

Unless they really do the 80s verse extremely well than this game is going to be disgusting and shit with how the main protagonist abomination looks which might hint towards how some of the other parts of the game would be like. Hopefully it's just the main character that's bad and 99% of the other game is done well in full 80s style content but I have doubts especially if they're going to hire the insane woke crazies as writers.

I'll do it for free.

In the year 2487, humanity had spread its reach far beyond Earth, colonizing planets and establishing outposts across the galaxy. One such outpost was on Kepler-186f, a planet orbiting a red dwarf star, teeming with life and resources. Among the crew of the Kepler-186f outpost was Dr. Evelyn Walsh, a brilliant astrobiologist with a passion for exploring the unknown. On a routine mission to collect samples from a newly discovered alien flora, a catastrophic event struck, leaving Evelyn as the sole survivor. The outpost, now a silent monument to a lost crew, became Evelyn's sanctuary, a refuge in the vast, alien wilderness. But survival was a constant struggle, as she faced the harsh realities of a hostile environment, strange diseases, and dangerous creatures.

Evelyn's journey is one of resilience, resourcefulness, and scientific curiosity. She must scavenge for supplies, craft tools and weapons, and learn to navigate the treacherous terrain. She must also study the alien flora and fauna, understanding their behaviors and weaknesses to ensure her survival. Along the way, Evelyn encounters other survivors, some friendly, some not so much. She must decide whether to trust them or to face the challenges alone. She also discovers ancient ruins and cryptic messages, hinting at a hidden history of the planet and its inhabitants.

As Evelyn delves deeper into the mysteries of Kepler-186f, she uncovers a conspiracy that threatens not only her life but also the existence of the entire human race. She must use her scientific knowledge and courage to unravel the truth and save humanity from a devastating fate.

Game Features:

  • Open-world exploration: Explore the vast and diverse landscapes of Kepler-186f, from lush forests to arid deserts and icy tundras.
  • Survival mechanics: Manage your hunger, thirst, health, and oxygen levels. Craft tools, weapons, and medicines to survive.

  • Research and development: Collect samples, conduct experiments, and unlock new technologies to improve your chances of survival.
  • Base building: Construct and upgrade your base to provide shelter, storage, and a safe haven from the dangers of the planet.
  • Moral choices: Decide whether to trust other survivors, form alliances, or face the challenges alone.
  • Intriguing storyline: Unravel the mysteries of Kepler-186f and uncover a conspiracy that threatens the fate of humanity.
Key Elements:

  • Resource management: Gather and manage resources to craft tools, weapons, and medicines.
  • Crafting system: Combine materials to create a variety of useful items.
  • Combat system: Engage in tactical combat against alien creatures, using a combination of melee and ranged weapons.
  • Disease and injury system: Contract diseases and suffer injuries, requiring medical treatment and surgery.

I'd be willing to let them take another crack at TLoU 2. I'm sure most gamers are willing to recton what they released and just pretend it didn't happen.

This isn't anything unusual. We've known for years that this project had a writers room working on it, so there's a team of writers

It's likely a massive game and new writers could be brought on board for any number of reasons (ie. someone left, to add to the capacity of the writers room, DLC...)
Why don't the senior staff at ND just make TV shows? It really feels like they're embarrassed by gaming as a type of media.

lmao. No.

Then you have no comprehension or appreciation of what they've added to the video game landscape with their games. They're considered to be at the top of their game for many reasons and offering a wonderful, engaging story with intriguing characters is part of that. This is apparently aiming to be their biggest game to date and that level of complexity and scale warranted having a writers room to pull it off.

As for making TV shows, have you heard of The Last of Us HBO? Naughty Dog are involved with it as well. While they might not have been as involved in the Uncharted movie, they're likely to be much more involved in its sequel. No doubt they're building Intergalactic to have potential transmedia prospects with either a TV show or movie also.

Hiring a writer 4 years after the start of the project? You hire those at the beginning, not end.

They want to salvage back what they can after the feedback from their awful trailer.

EDIT: or maybe it's not about intergalactic but for their next game? The twitter thread is savage!
The story is the last part of a development, where the writers try to snitch together the various set pieces that are already decided. As per Amy Hennig.

...sigh, reading is fundamental. It literally states "join our writing team" , as in the role is to join an existing team of writers.

So this is not to hire "a writer" as in the ONLY WRITER or something weird like that, its to hire someone to join an existing team, they could be writing lore, quest all sorts of world building stuff in the game, things that might be done year 4, not year 1

LectureMaster LectureMaster its hard to say. It depends on what the person might be doing Sony no longer reveals titles that deep out, so its likely they might exist to fill out a role for lore, quest or something like that
This is how i took it. I feel this writer will be for dlc stories and sequel characters/lore. I fill intergalactic is going to be a big franchises with multiple characters. Drunkman and current writing team is mostly probably from the last of, uncharted, etc. the writer they would like to hire is probably to expand on the outerspace type stuff. They probably want to absorb some of those bungie writers. The final shape was masterful. I always get hypnotized by bungie Lore and stories.

Looks like the game is at least 2 years out if they are still hiring writers. Oh well… wait… could this be for an expansion?

Edit: it says “heretic prophet” specifically. Sigh…

Hey kids, are you looking to get hyper-scrutinized by an army of angry culture warriors who will scour everything you have ever done to affirm the narrative that you are a malevolent plant who wants to destroy their hobby because reasons?

God, who would want to work in the game industry anymore.
Weird defense of woke culture warrior types that have invaded gaming and other media. Those pricks deserve scrutiny since they love getting on social media and vomiting their ideals. Deal with it.

It is going to be the supposed Swan song for Ps5.

Like the last of us on ps3 and part 2 on ps4.

That would imply it's a 2028 game to be the consoles swan song and there is no reason at all to believe that the game has about 4 more years of dev time when it's already been in dev for 4.5 years. Neil has stated that the studio no longer prefers to show their games off too early anymore, so this game should be 1 or 2 years off

There's a higher probability of TLOU Part 3 being the swan song if it began pre production in 2023 and they move into full production in the next 1 or 2 years as Intergalactic approaches launch
