I'm not saying he didn't have a choice, I'm just not going to hold it against him. I'm not going to feed into the ridiculous expectation that players should have to take less money (as if they aren't already making less than their true value, even on max contracts) in order to make the team better. That's not his job. He is paid to play, and I don't think anybody would argue that the Knicks haven't gotten exactly what they signed up for from Melo since signing him. He's held up his end of the bargain, they haven't held up theirs.

I agree with most of this. Again I never said he should have taken less money, just that it was an option and other players have done so.

My assertion is that equating him taking the money he is worth with how much he cares about winning is ridiculous. Why didn't KD sign with Golden State for the league minimum so they could free up money to sign other guys too? Does he not care about winning? That's the road you are going down.

Again I gave multiple reasons as to why I think he doesn't care about winning. Not taking less money is a minor one. My biggest argument is the fact that he re-signed in New York, knowing it's an inept organization that had no talent on the roster. The other example of him not caring about winning was forcing a trade with the Knicks instead of being patient and going to New York as a free agent, which would have allowed the Knicks to keep their young talent to put around him.

Dennis Schroeder has really stepped it up in the playoffs, damn impressive.

Also, I wonder what the ceiling for Prince is. Any Hawks fans have any idea?

You're right. He's been really good for a long time. I don't think he was the league's best PG that often (especially recently) but he's been the only guy in the league (other then Williams) that entire stretch.

But I'd definitely rather have peak Rose, Curry, Harden, than CP3.
Yeah no, as a defender, Chris Paul could lock a man down. Put them motherfucking clamps on, was fast as fuck, could run PnR like a fucking demon, and made amazing smart passes. I'd take him in his prime over Steph, Rose, and Harden

Ethan Strauss got laid off? I'm trying to figure out what my reaction is... no, nope can't do it. I know he's been on podcasts I've listened to, but it seems I can't remember a single thing he's said.

That's the fucking play we run after a time out?

Fucking Baze?

Plus he shot with like 3 seconds left. Wtf he could have gotten closer.

That was total garbage.

Yeah, was sad to see that. One of the best bball writers at ESPN.

Though it'd be lit if he went back to WarriorsWorld.

I think he wanted to win and wanted to win in NY rather than latch on to some other team (for which he would have been criticized anyway). It may have been misguided, but his intent and desire was still to win. I don't think anyone would ever question Kobe's desire to win, yet he couldn't get along with Shaq. Was that because they didn't care about winning, or was it because they were two stubborn, over confident athletes at their peak who wanted to win, but wanted to do it their way, on their own terms?

I'd definitely have him in his prime over Rose, probably Harden. Not 2016 Steph. But, say, 2008 CP3, was fucking amazing, and every year in the playoffs he balls out before someone else screws something up (he's consistently the one that shows up).

CP3 is better than many thing. His assist to turnover rate, coupled with how many assists he makes, makes him a better pure point guard than fucking Stockton.

#3 in career assists per game

#6 in career steals per game

#2 in AST Pct (it goes: Stockton, Chris Paul, big drop, others)

#1 in career offensive rating

#15 in career offensive win shares

#24 in career win shares

#2 to only Jordan (0.2505 vs 0.2504) in career win shares per 48 minutes

#3 to only Lebron and Jordan in career box plus/minus

#3 in career offensive box plus/minus

#17 in VORP (Value Over Replacement Player)

Going by real plus/minus this season, the MVP would be Chris Paul, and no one else is close

Bill Simmons' recent podcast guest was talking about how CP3 went from great to even better, almost to an extreme extent, when you looked at his game in terms of advanced statistics. CP3 isn't actually 3rd to Jordan and Lebron or anything, but he's still an all-time player, top 10, if not top 5 point guard.

Also, it's funny how a bunch of advanced stats say Harden in 2015 and Westbrook in 2016 were better. Then again, Harden carried more in 2015, and Westbrook was on a much better team.
