NBA 2K18 |OT| 1,000 VC needed to enter thread.

I may be an undersized PF, but I just played my first game against Porzingis (Marc Gasol should have been on him instead, but the game isn't smart enough to make that change) and got absolutely abused. I was impressed by the screens the CPU was putting on me to get him open, though. It seemed really intelligent. Not that he needed it--anytime I was guarding him in the post he just walked around me like I wasn't there and hooked it in.

Also, he's automatic from 3.
 
Man, the loading on the Switch is killing any desire to do the VC glitch. I'm sitting on 25k and wanna blow my brains out. I cannot even fathom getting 100k+ like some of you guys.

Do you have vibration on? Layup timing is still in this year, but this time, instead of the meter, they tell you when to release the layup through vibration.

Other than that, shooting this year is just generally harder than last year, or glitched, or maybe we're just not used to the new system yet lol.
 
Grind is going to take so long. I've only got one badge so far, ankle breaker. The only one I want is posterizer lol.

Layups at broken in this game. The timing is fucked.
 
I have vibration on but haven't noticed any timing vibrations when trying layups. I had some trouble with layups at first, but now I just release the shoot button as soon as I leave the ground and it tends to go in. The timing probably varies by character, though.
 
Apparently 2K is going to be issuing the game with the cover changed to reflect Kyrie's trade. Looks like I'm waiting for that to happen before buying.
 
Shit, I kinda want to make a Shotcreating Post scorer. The badges are nice. No posterizer (maybe on SF?) but you get bruiser and corner specialist. Post moves are OP period too.

I haven't gotten that far on my PS4 build so I might just do it. Only a 65 ovr anyway.

Gonna look at more builds on my Switch lol.
 
I only tend to play franchise or GM mode on these games. Does the VC grind impact that mode? I am seeing a lot of negative feedback on the VC grind.
 
Holy crap, so SF shotcreator post scorer loses dimer but gets brick wall. Still gets corner specialist too.

Nah, you're safe. I think MyGm has a minimal VC stuff but it doesn't impact it in anyway.
 
The trick does not seem to work on Swtich?
Anyway... this game is hard and I have problems with the shotmeter. It seems like it's popping up too late or sometimes not at all? Am I missing something?

Shooting is harder this year no doubt, and I don't understand what they tuned this year, but it will pay to learn the shot releases of each of your players and be more selective in terms of the shots you take. I get good releases consistently, and I'm taking fairly good quality shots (ie not forced, and somewhat open), but I'm not getting as much success as in previous years.

I've had games where my team shoots anywhere from around 33 percent fg percentage for the game, to in the low 50s range over about 10 games in superstar difficulty. I'm sure they'll tune the shot success this year, as they are probably getting a lot of complaints (especially for layups), but it will pay to know your player's timing and make sure to use the appropriate shot for the right situation to get good quality looks.
 
Ugh so torn between builds now. I really want Corner Specialist and Posterizer but there's trade offs for everything. Finishing/Shot Creator has more HoF badges but no corner specialist.

Edit: fuck it. Gonna ride with Finisher/Shot Creator. Bronze Corner Specialist shouldn't really be that big of a deal if I find the right shot anyway.

Nah they don't really ban, plenty of people do it/have done it and haven't been banned. Just way too many people to ban. Plus itll just add more fuel to the fire lol. Just got to get in on it while you can before they find a way to patch it.

But there will always be ways to exploit 2K. Before there was a wave of people playing MyTeam and quitting during loading which still gave you the VC for "playing". It fucked up your record but it was a quick way to make VC.

Last year, I had a dummy MyCareer that I had already maxed with a max contract and I just used that account to grind for VC when I needed to other things. Just left the game on for 20 mins and it was an easy 1k lol.

Alright, might as well get in on it then while there's an opportunity lol. The VC may come in handy in the future, though I don't even play the career mode.
 
Hopefully it lasts, I bought VC like an idiot before knowing about this.

Yesterday I farmed a little under 100k which is more than I spent on VC with real money.

Tonight I want to build around an extra 50-100k again through a couple more hours of pain to make sure I've got enough for the rest of the upgrades just in case...

83 OVR with everything maxed to my current cap except stamina which is not all that useful for the Park which is the mode I play most since walk on pro am is empty on PC.

I did this trick for hours yesterday after work. Man it takes forever though and I only got my player up to 77. The thing is I feel obligated to do this and nothing else because it's only a matter or time before the patch this and end up giving 50 VC per new season.
 
Anybody else straight up not actually getting their hard earned VC after MyCareer matches? Happened twice already between today and yesterday. Like I see the VC i earned after the match, it gets added up to the amount I already had, but once I'm in the locker room it's just not there. Continue to the streets and it's still not fucking there. I also still haven't gotten any extras from Jordan shoe deal, despite wearing them during matches, what's up with that?

Why do I feel like 2K does this shit intentionally? It's like, "hey we saw you spent €20 on VC last year, why don't you do it again this year?"

Also, the text at the Ante-Up VC gamble scam is just to funny and breaks the 4th dimension imo. It literally asks you "How deep are your pockets?" lmao.

it's built into the game so i don't see what the problem would be. but who knows, if they do decide to ban users then i'll boycott their game for life due to their greed.
 
So today is the official day that the game is officially out in stores. metacritic for the PS4 version is currently 93 (higher than I thought it would be given the glitches). I hope they patch up all the glitches or they'll hear more complaints. I enjoy the game and want it to work well!

Yeah I don't think they should penalize players for something that is not dealing with the user altering their game or cheating the system . This is a feature that is built in the game and we're getting VC through legitimate means. If they do ban, I think I would not purchase their games any more either.

I don't see them doing shit based on your reasons alone. The lenghts they've gone through to handicap us and try and steer us in the direction of buying vc is absurd. From a business standpoint it's smart, but from our viewpoint it's some shady shit. Not being able to see your attribute ratings w/o first spending vc, the vc increases on animations over the years, a damn haircut you cannot preview and also have to buy which was free before, certain shoes costing up to 6,000vc, and even the my2k app where we used to be able to pull in a few thousand a day and now only 100vc per day. Besides that the gameplay feels great so far. I don't feel much canned animations anymore which was a big gripe of I and my friends.

Sign me up for this kind of reaction. I'm just one step away from dropping them anyways, VC cashgrab is annoying and feels like they dont give a fuck about the users.

On the other hand I'm sure there are dedicated people in the team as the product shows, it plays amazing and the amount of content is just staggering.

Yes. That would be me bitching in many threads about their abuse of VC, lol. But I stopped once I realized there was no point arguing with some brick walls who seem to want to come to their defense no matter what.

Yeah businesswise it does seem smart. We all bought a $60 dollar game, and they are continuing to make a ton off of people afterwards. It's a great game, but I refuse to pay more for the game. I'm afraid that one day we'll get to the point where we have to pay for VC and can't earn it in any other way.

I'm a tiny bit nervous about the reception of the game on the switch. It's only available on the eShop atm, right?

In Germany it's not in the top 10, might still be okay, since it's not really a basketball country. But in the USA it's third after Sonic and Mario + Rabbids. No idea if that's good enough or not...
Would love more and ongoing 2k support, hopefully it's meeting sales targets.

Nope, in fact the shortest the better.

My general rule of thumb is to jump in as soon as the clock shows something lower than a single possession time, so under 24 sec.

Go in simcast, simulate, right joystick all the way to the right (max sim speed), when it its around 1min left on 4th quarter right joystick all the way to the left (min sim speed) and stop the counter as soon as you see it tick under 20 sec.

The worse case scenario is a close draw and then you get stuck in a endless loop of forced fouls, but it happens very rarely in my experience with the warriors, first match is against rockets and its almost never close :).

Very important if you're playing the PC version.

When going back to the main menu be careful when deleting your saves, for some reason once I was too fast and it loaded briefly my my career saves and I accidentally deleted a 75 OVR alt, it felt very bad. Now I take a split second to check what I'm deleting instead of going full muscle memory.
 
if you're looking for best possible team to put into that situation, are the warriors really the best options. Wouldn't a better choice be to go into Custom League and use the all time teams there?

Edit: Yoiu should probably want to pick the Magic as the first team you play against, since they seem to be the worst team in the league. The Heat play them in their first game, im gonna test this out. Im not dealing with 3 straight non blowout games in against the pels, and also going into overtime cause my sim team aint doing shit

I will never understand how people are so invested in hardware/software that they will defend actions designed purely to fuck them over.

No matter, there is cricket on the TV which means I have something to watch while I sit here grinding out enough VC to create level up another character.

This is good to know. I would create a league, delete, then create a new one each time. Nothing like efficient exploitation!

I can't imagine how much of a grind it is to do this normally. Fuckin' insanity. When they first introduced VC in 2K14, progression wasn't nearly as time-consuming.

I can't believe I keep supporting these folks.
