NBA 2K9 Trailer + gameplay

are those the same announcers?

it looked choppy and the players are jaggy?

i mean... does any1 else see what i mean?

i thought the animations would be smoother
 
Too bad for EA that they failed to buy up the NBA license and monopolize the shit like they did with the NFL and Madden. 2K has been slapping them around for years now.
 
I didn't pick it last year, but I probably get this one. I agree that the visuals have improved. Kinda' does look choppy.

I don't know of a link off-hand that discusses it, but the NBA actually said no to an exclusivity deal at one point. There was a compromise which involved the "street" b-ball games alternating years; that's the reason why you never see a new NBA Street and NBA Ballers in the same calendar year.

Imagine if the NFL had the broad sense of marketability that the NBA obviously possesses. We'd have NFL 2K still, pushing Madden to be even better than it is and also giving the world another great football game with quality equal or better than the NBA 2K series.

This game simply looks amazing. Its so strange because, after every year, I imagine that they really can't make it look too much better. Well they add more and more animations every year and keep making the faces look better and better. Color me more than interested; I'm pumped.

Looked really choppy to me compared to 2k7-2k8. Chris Paul looked like he was teleporting with the ball.
 
It isn't that it is choppy it is just that the transition animations don't seem to be in place yet or something. It just looks really awkward at this point.

I'll try both games out (2k and Live) and see which one is best. Though people here crap all over Live, I thought the demo was great.
 
What the hell is up with the fan in the stands that keeps going up and down the stairs. It's a minor detail but that is annoying!

Is it me or are the player models bigger this year?

Game looks great. The most flaring problem is the skating. It detracts from the presentation but I remember reading from a post by a 2k sports dev that that issue unfortunately will probably never be fixed. Some the passing animations are a little disjointed though. It seems like there's one or two generic two hand overhand pass animation that everyone has.

Nevertheless, this game shot up my hype list.

It actually ships out to stores at the end of next week. Review copies should be going out around the same time. NBA Live ships out before that.

I'm about to give up on VC. Those guys work hard but WTF at the commentary. You heard that OOOOOOOOOOO yell? That's actually Kenny Smith yelling but he's not in the game anymore. Special K is just repeating the same lines Kenny did the last 2 years, which were the same lines Bill Walton used in 2K5. If you replace one of the guys calling the games, record new commentary! This ain't MLB2K*
 
Commentary is garbage and I'm not a fan of the speed upgrade...

Still though I can't say much until I play it. The new animations of course looked slick.

Just turn the speed to 45 or 40. You'll be fine.

Fucking fabulous!! that they are adding signature style defense. When do we get Sig Style Refs?

also, why can't 2k fix the annoying shit where the CPU people know whether the ball is going in or not? check out on some of the shots no one crashes the boards because they all know its going to go in. also happens a lot on free throws, even if the ball hits rim and bounces in, no one crashes because the AI already knows its going in.

i'll still buy it but only because of the improved online leagues setup this year.
 
i don't know all the details but i do know they finally added divisions and conferences! that's all i need!

pretty sad that 2k can come up with nice online leagues (for years) and EA cant provide madden with any semblence of online leagues. now NCAA.... there is how you do an online setup and ALL sports game developers should take note. i hope NBA '10 has online franchise mode. that would be awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I told myself that I'd skip this year's edition and grab next year's, can someone tell me if it has a career mode, where you improve your player on a game by game basis like MLB teh show. If not I'll wait until 2K10
 
Color me NOT impressed! Looks like it runs and plays the same as last year....Still buying it day one though because I love my b-ball!

Damn that new trailer looked pretty hot. Liked what I saw of the gameplay video as well. Might have to pick this up now.

Especially NBA 2K JC. When you can actually control him and use his abilities properly, unlike what we usually see on the court, he's a damn-fine addition to NBA 2Knicks. He'll be throwing alley after alley to the Rooster, it'll be a thing of beauty.
