Kobe's pump fake, drive, and slam was nasty, too.
JCraws moves were spot on and looked like a great addition to the game.
Can't wait to pick this up!

The play by play is crap, some spacing issues, AI issues and other minor glitches like the instant replay right after the play instead of during dead balls situations.
But still, the gameplay in this game is unmatched. No other sports game lets you do so much. Gameplay is a reason why PES became a hardcore legend.
2K is the same. I forgive their minor flaws because the gameplay just works.
Also, of all the preview videos, the one with the Spurs against the Rockets is the better one.
Nobody talks about 2K sharing, but if what David Ellis told on the 1up yours last week is true, then my dream came true. He said he downloaded a file with the complete rosters for the 1992-1993 season.
The thought of playing with my beloved Sonics in the 1996 season is overwhelming. Still, since they are dead i don't even know if they can edit team names for such possibility.
I would pay 10 dolars for a signature-complete Shawn Kemp of that season on 2K9. It's a shame basketball games were so limited back then. The thought of reliving history still makes me hopeful.

The thing I liked best about that trailer is how they recreated some highlights from last year. Very cool.

The one thing I can't understand is how they got this new Kellogg guy for color commentary, and had him repeat the EXACT same lines with the same pitch and tone as Kenny Smith from last year. The commentary is EXACTLY the same, it still fucking sucks. It sounds nothing like a real broadcast, it's just fucking ackward and weird playcalling. Terrible.

Its amazing how they can get gameplay right but fail on the little things like presentation, music, commentary, and etc.

As far the user interface goes, it looks very nice this year. I love the real life highlights in the background menus.

I've bought a 2K game the last two years and before that I just played NBA Street games (and 2K5, which owned). I haven't played a live game since i think 03.
I loved 2K7 but 2K8 didn't hit me the same way, I was kind of dissapointed.
That said, I DL'ed the NBA Live 09 demo yesterday and I was impressed, I liked it a lot and found myself playing it a lot. I think I'm going with NBA Live 09 this year.

As a big fan of NBA 2k throughout the years, the formula is now stale. Those videos look JUST like 2k8. Just because they've produced a great engine doesn't mean they can continue to ride it for the 3rd year in a row. Goddamn.
I've been playing the hell out of the Live demo just because it's fresh. And this year, it's actually fun.
Oh, and Clark Kellogg was the worst commentator choice EVER.

2K needs to quit bullshitting and get the TNT crew (Ernie, Chuck and Kenny) to do the play by play and color for the game. Just use whatever money you wasted getting that jackass Garnett to be on the cover, it'll help sell more copies too.

Looks pretty sick to me, only thing that has me slightly worried is the transitions from animation to animation, and the frequency in which the players hands go through backboards and rims...Live is the worst offender, but 2k is no saint when it comes to this either. I'll probably be turning down the game speed a notch too...Oh and please convince me that centers stealing the ball from guards are going to be a rare occurrences, I mean wtf.

The graphics look much improved from these vids, I guess we'll tell when we get the demo on my TV, but the players look much better and the crowds look SICK. Also the crowd noises seem to be much louder and realistic.
Ihope it has individual arena chants like "LETS GO HEAT!" that'd be awsome.

Loved seeing the Knicks in that latest Operation Sports video and in the Association stuff. Things looked just about right, though 2K always has JC dunking a lot more than he usually does in-game. Still, big Eddy looks as big as ever...and unfortunately, it seems to be an accurate take of his current condition. :*(
