Everyone is sleeping on the Mavs. They took the best aspects of last years Warrior's team, and are adding them to their already exceptional squad.

Preseason is typically a big deal for the psyche of a team. Let me ask you, who was the last team to win the preseason title? Hint: it was the Cleveland Cav from last year. Do you know what they did in the regular season? They won it too, plus a champion.

Of course the first time in five years the Knicks should actually be good, we're trying to figure out how to balance a guys playing time around his rape trial.

Disgusting.

The first mistake was assuming that the Knicks will be good

The second mistake was rooting for the Knicks

If anyone knows how to balance playing time around a rape trial, it's Phil Jackson. He's like the Phil Jackson of balancing playing time around a player's rape trial.

Man, I have to go down to NYC for work in Dec and our office is right in Penn Plaza. I hope I can catch and Knicks game at MSG while I'm down there; I just hope all those brittle old-timers will still be in the line-up by then...

Don't know how much validity there is to it, but there are rumors that Ben Simmons' agent might try and hold him out the entire year.

This came from Bob Cooney who is one of Phillies worst sports guys

It's a possibility, but i don't see why you'd make this decision before surgery even happens. i can't imagine someone not playing if they aren't 100% and ready to go. It could be related though to NBA All - Rookie awards giving money to Ben Simmons from Nike too.

Also, remember when people called out Hinkie for having bad relationships with agents?

It seems to early to make definitive proclamations either way. If it's the kind of injury that he can be 100% healed from with very little risk of reinjury, I don't see the harm in getting him back out there even if it's late in the season to get some much needed reps.

In other news, a member of next years much hyped draft class, Harry Giles, had another knee surgery and is out 6 weeks. He also tore both ACLs while in college. Will be interested to see what this does to his draft stock and what his medical look like, and if they scare teams away. He's a top 3 guy in the class in terms of talent.

Yeah, I saw that earlier. Really sucks for him, I wonder if he'll skip playing at duke and go to the pros. With knees like that it'll be interesting what teams are willing to take a risk on him, dude's got real talent.

Pumped to get back into the thread and another NBA season.

Isn't this what Durant had? Maybe it is best for him to skip the whole season.

Wasn't there rumblings that Ben Simmons' agent is already pushing for him to skip the season?

Honestly, I think the freak out is kind of deserved.

That's a bummer. Giles is really intriguing. Obviously this hurts his draft stock but it hurts Duke alot as well.

Wow @ Simmons maybe missing those games will be for the best anyway once real basketball starts picking up around January.

Durant clearly rushed back, there's an expected out time of 3-4 months. The sixers might be super careful with him, but I don't think it woulkd be good for Ben to hold him out of games if he is fully healed. Someone looked online and if you dont rush back from the injury, only one of the 13 elite athletes who suffered the injury have had a complications, and he'll be under the eyes of some of the best medical personel in the game. Also, having a guy like Embiid and Noel, guys who went through very similar situations is only going to help him.

I'd like to see him play this year.

Also, That injury is huge for Giles, if I remember correctly, he's had injury issues throughout his entire high school career. Definately lowers his stock tremendously. Sixers weren't going to draft him anyway, as this draft is loaded with a shit ton of guards, but man, wouldnt want to be in his shoes.

what the fuck are you talking about lmao

Fake basketball is played in November and December since they can't grow the basketball during that part of the year.

If you look closely, you can see they are just pretending to play basketball with an imaginary ball

That's why the fans sometimes shout "airball!" They suddenly break free of the mind control gas that's pumped into the arenas during the imaginary part of the season and are expressing their shock.
