Good episode. Agree with all the picks EXCEPT Blake's. Really, the dude with the bow tie was leaps and bounds better than the country guy.

The "Stevie Nicks" girl is smokin hot and I think she also had the best voice of the bunch tonight.
Seemed like Blake was favoring the other guy heavily. He made a pairing with a song that clearly favored the other guy, however Tyler sang better (as the other judges mentioned) and didn't get picked. My wife was furious after he made his pick accusing him of basically being a homophobe.

Yeah, I think she's right.

Glad to see a Dutch TV format doing great over there. The first season was a huge upset for dwindling reality TV ratings over here. I liked the concept of the coaches and the chairs, but I lost track of it once they moved on to the battles.

Didn't agree with Blake's pick at all but everyone else was right on the money. Cee-Lo's choice was definitely the hardest of the four - I thought each duet had a clear winner (even if Blake picked the wrong one), but both girls did so well with that song even if I'd also give the edge to Vicky.

This show is so good. I've never been into any competition show before but the combination between entertaining judges and a unique and interesting competition style (so far, at least) make this such an entertaining watch and I can't wait until next week.

Decided to try this show out since I've watched every season of Idol so far. I thought the blind auditions were boring and the talent mediocre. However, last night's face-offs were really interesting to watch and Cee-lo's girls were just awesome. So I'll be sticking around until at least the face-offs have been completed.

Silly thread title. How is that even a question? I'm not going to ever watch this show but Carson Daly is awesome!

Tyler was robbed. The hell?
Agreed. I'm pissed. Way more versatile and a more unique voice. Terrible decision.

I hope Blake loses for this.

Also, Vicci is so adorable. <3

NBC expanding 'The Voice' to two hours

Given how strong The Voice has performed in the ratings, NBC is expanding the talent show to two hours next month and will pair the show with the return of America’s Got Talent.
The Voice will have two-hour live shows starting June 7 following original episodes of Got Talent (which premieres May 31). The show’s one-hour “battle rounds” will continue at Tuesdays at 10 p.m. through May 31, then switch to two-hour live episodes through June 28.

There was a bunch of controversy about it, but I don't think he is. And I also don't think it mattered that Tyler was gay.
Given it's a competition, I suspect you're right on the second point. He'd have to really, really hate gays to do that. I was being facetious on that point.

To the first point though, exactly what are you saying? That he isn't a bigot? I know people occasionally say stupid shit. I'm very pro gay (and have been actively so at times) ... and I still fuck up. I'm 35, and grew up using 'gay' to mean lame or fruity. I hate to admit it, but sometimes it still slips out. I feel bad for it. This however is a bit over the top to throw into that pile. He took the time to rewrite lyrics to say if a dude touched him he'd fuck him up ... violently ... and then felt it was a good idea to tweet it to hundreds of thousands of followers.

I'm not saying I assume he's going to run out and fag-bash anyone that looks at him funny, but his bigotry obviously runs a bit deeper than something one can just brush off as a slip of the tongue. Just look at his 'apology':

Shelton later clarified his Tweet: “Hey y’all allow me to seriously apologize for the misunderstanding with the whole re-write on the Shania song last night… It honestly wasn’t even meant that way… I now know that their are people out there waiting to jump at everything I say on here or anywhere. But when it comes to gay/lesbian rights or just feelings… I love everybody. So go look for a real villain and leave me out of it!!!”

Exactly where is the apology in this? He claims he didn't mean it that way, and then brushes it aside. There's a reason he doesn't further detail what he actually meant ... because obviously there is no good explanation for what he meant. It's quite self-explanatory.

noice!

Glad to see the show is popular.

I caught up with this series over the weekend, and I love it. The selection process was entertaining as all hell, but kind of got wonky towards the end when the judges had to fill out remaining spots on their teams with the people that had been denied earlier. When I first heard of this show, I thought the concept of judging solely on voice quality would last through the entire season, but that didn't play out.

For the the first round of battle rounds, Blake didn't pick the right singer, but you could totally tell guy was playing favorites going into it. Tyler had that shit on lock.

I didn't think Frenchie would make it through, but luckily for her, Tarra was all over the place with her singing. She done messed up.

I agree with the calls that C-Lo and Adam had to make, but damn those were pretty tough to call, really. I went in thinking that it'd be pretty easy to see who the judges were gonna choose as the winners, but after seeing them perform those duets, it was sad to see them go. Poor choice of C to put those two girls against each other. I thought their performance was good; 'gave me the chills actually.

This show is great.

NBC already renewed The Voice for next winter, but it won't compete against Idol directly. As much as I like the voice, I feel like the combination of Idol, X Factor, The Voice, The Sing-off, and America's got talent will burn audiences out on singing competitions and burn people out.

Blake's team is shaping up to be super bland, always going with the safe bet so far. (Though unfortunately, that usually wins these type of competitions.)

If he cuts Dia, I'll be pissed.

Finally got around to watching last weeks episode. Totally forgot about Hulu. I think I'm rooting for Vicci Martinez to go all the way. Her blind audition was the stand out and her duet was my favorite. Plus, after hearing those two songs over and over again on the radio and never really liking them, I like her versions better than the originals. Plus, how can you hate her war dance.

Tonight was an okay episode. I wish they did more battles per week so we could get to the live shows faster. Vicci is okay, but I feel like her voice is less powerful than she thinks. I prefer Haley Reinhart's idol version of "Rolling in the Deep" to Vicci's. Vicci definitely is being set up to go the distance, though.

I can't really disagree with any of the choices tonight. The bread of the sandwich (first and last performances) was the closest IMO ...

A good friend of mine, Nakia is on this show. It's cool to see him moving up to the next round!

I went downtown and watched it with Nakia and Tje at a bar here in Austin. Glad Nakia made it through and he really did outpace Tje but the guy is super nice so it kind of sucked to see him lose.

I kind of get the feeling that all the judges except Cee-lo are just getting rid of their weakest members in these earlier rounds. Cee-lo keeps putting talent against talent.

Un-possible! Rolling in the Deep is about the only song I like from Adele, and I really, really like it. :P

Yes though, her War Dance is amazing.

Shoot, I would do the same thing.

Watching it now. Much better episode than last week. I still prefer it to American Idol, even if there are a few more gimmicks. We also have to wait 2 more weeks for Xenia? Dammit.

I'm still 50/50 on Tje and Nakia. I prefer Nakia's voice, but the song was a better fit for Tje. Cee-Lo is making the best pairings - it makes the for best television.

I hate Elenowen, fucking hipsters. But they do blend well. I do like how they show the actual musical talent that goes into researching and practicing the song. Jared was the right choice, Elenowen hit some flat notes along the way when they were singing solo, especially Nicole.

I feel really bad - Angela is so adorable, and she's definitely talented. But there was no chance she could have beaten Javier (and she knew it too). Also, Adam? Just do Christina already. We're all waiting for it.

Beverley asking for blood, and at the end of the day was probably the right choice. This was probably the closest battle of the four, to be honest. I also like how Christina goes "oh, just go like OOOOOOOHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! mmmmhmmm like that."

I really love that as well. It always makes me think someone else stepped into the room for a moment just to belt that. It's just way too powerful for it to come from that tiny frame.

...I'm watching the premier now. I actually really like this! I'm also really liking how the judges have to compete with each other; almost every time someone really has a good voice multiple judges want them, which makes this super entertaining.

Yeah, this episode is pretty bad. Rebecca should have been picked. Didn't even think the guy who won over her deserved to get to the battle rounds.

What a horrible episode. Still love the show, but all of today's singers were very forgettable.

I agree. Didn't really like any of the singers, but I thought the girl who went against the sisters should have been picked over them. She seemed to have a better voice.

I'm kind of late to this show, but I actually like it over all the other singing shows.

Weird episode.

I'm very glad Dia made it through. Man, Blake makes really weird pairings, and his song choices are so random and uninspired.

I wish the judges could trade team members. I bet Cee Lo would trade the country sisters for Dia.

Blake doesn't really seem comfortable dealing with anything outside his wheelhouse, and Cee Lo wanted Dia anyway. (And I'd prefer her on his team.)

What a throwback! Does anybody else remember Taylor and Tori Thompson from American Juniors? They were like 10/11 years old and actually were among the 5 winners back then in 2003.

Be sure to count them among the many who have jumped off the Idol/Fox bandwagon!

Just got around to watching last week's episode. Color me surprised the Twins won. The blonde can sing but the brunette can not. Would have chosen the other lady. For the Creep song...I would have picked the lady and not the pre-med student. I think Blake got it right last week by picking Dia over Sarabee. For Christina's match-up...I'm having a hard time remembering that one(as it was the first of the ep)...just remember they sung Rihanna. Don't think either was pretty good if memory serves me correctly.

Whoa! Blake looks like he's from a whole 'nother species compared to those two girls. It looked like he was triple their size.

Blake makes the worst song choices.

The worst. That pairing was atrocious, too. Even if they have similar personalities, it didn't manifest itself in their voices.

Still, Xenia's tone is unreal. I'm so excited she made it.

EDIT: Dia and Xenia are not good pairs for Blake.
