Come on Christina, pick Cherie. She was by far the more interesting and all around better voice. Also, Blake picks the worst songs imaginable. Bleh

EDIT: Fuck.

What's with Christina's weird overhead clap?

The worst. That pairing was atrocious, too. Even if they have similar personalities, it didn't manifest itself in their voices.

Still, Xenia's tone is unreal. I'm so excited she made it.

EDIT: Dia and Xenia are not good pairs for Blake.
I hope the judges don't really have any sway over the performers in the live round, because if he's picking the songs... >_<

Free Dia!

Also, did any of the singers in the battle round that didn't have a dedicated segment of them in the blind auditions make it to the live rounds? I don't think so. Way to tip your hand NBC.

Maroon 5 guy's team is the best. Although I think the pre-med guy is the weak link and shouldn't have been chosen in his battle.

Xenia has a great voice but she murdered an awesome song(The Pretenders one)...as did her competition. Probably the worse performance of anyone so far. There's too many country acts in the final 16. Should be interesting to see how that works against the country acts as votes will be split and they'll probably be at the bottom of the pool. So far, I'd take Casey Weston.

I think they do, which may be a problem for Team Blake.

Curtis Grimes didn't have the biggest segment, but everyone else did. None of the skipped people (Niki Dawson, Sara Oromchi, Serabee, Casey Desmond and Justin Grennan) in the second episode went on.

I hope Casey makes it far, she deserves to. And I hope that Xenia gets a better song choice, or better nerves.

I remember Curtis's story (giving up baseball), so he did at least get some screen time.

That was a really lame oversight by the editors of this show. I went into each battle expecting that outcome, and it happened exactly as I anticipated.

"Don't pay too much attention to these people, they're just gonna get axed later!"

Niki was better than Vicci. She has a youtube cover of "rolling in the deep" that is pretty good. Overall, I think the final will be between someone from Christina and Adam's teams.

I love the format of this show, but my god is the talent much more underwhelming than Idol or what?

Bad song choices? not enough rehearsal time? something is definitely wrong. My ears are getting raped from all the off key singing and pitch problems, while the judges' reactions are extreme positive.

Last two episodes were very disappointing vocally. Something has to be done about that or I'm tuning off.

I'd say the talent is better than Idol by a long shot. It's just the nature of the duets or battles as it were that are throwing them off, as well as some questionable song choices.

Only two teams performing? So weird. This show has format issues.

Agreed. Makes no sense. It's probably because they have 16 competitors, but they have 2 hours!

Also:

- If this is a vocal competition, why was that so performance based?
- If this is a vocal competition, why did Xtina pick a Ke$ha song?
- If this is a vocal competition, why the hell is Raquel still in this competition?

EDIT: Much better. Much, much, better. Get rid of Raquel. Now.

Nobody does amazing with "I'm the only one", just okay. Do any of these people read what not to sing?

Team Blake is actually pretty strong right now. Surprising. I guess it was just him picking shitty music during the battle round.

His song choices have been lightyears better than Christina's.

Damn, missed the intro song. Heard Adam killed the solo ... will have to watch afterwards.

So far I'm really enjoying this. While no one's been perfect, everyone's really bringing it. All the performances have been pretty impressive so far in terms of getting the audience into it, etc.

Not at all. They had to expand to 2 hours to even do this. What would you suggest for this round? Vote people off of teams without hearing the entire team?

What I'm curious is once we drop to 2 per team, will it be head-to-head, or will we be voting down to a single singer per team first?

Agreed, and yes to the bolded.

After next week's episode it'll be 2 from every team. I imagine it'll be all versus all.

And there is some major jailbait on the right side of the stage right now.

You skipped the fucking bar out with friends to watch this? LOL, wait until I tell everyone.

Two weeks, two from each team, then single elimination from there on. Having a four person finale means that 1) a weaker contestant will get in the finale over a stronger contestant from another group, and 2) a country contestant will almost always win.

That, or have 4 people leave on the first night (two judge vote, two audience vote), then do single elimination from then on.

Well that was pretty entertaining.

You know I thought I was hallucinating, but during Castro's performance I thought her timbre was different than I remembered. It seemed to have more bass that belies her size. The funny thing is during the ensemble it actually sounded more like I recall - a bit thinner.

I really liked how it sounded in her solo.

Actually I was at my parents helping redo the hardware on their kitchen cabinets.

Ass

Dammit, Xenia. Dammit.

:-(

EDIT: Blake needs to give her a better song choice. She has a niche. Not a terrible performance, but not nearly as good as her voice is.

I agree though, I would listen to an album of that voice.

While she looked nervous, that was better than I expected. At least she moved a bit and was smiling. I love her voice, even if she is too timid as a performer.

It was a subdued performance, but I loved it personally. It was different, and had hints of trance. I love her voice. But I still liked Dia's performance more. I wonder if they announce the Judges' saves tonight.

Dia and Xenia are probably the most interesting voices in the competition, but I think that Dia has more of a potential for a presence on stage, even if she doesn't realize it quite yet. Whatever, Blake's entire team is more qualified than Christina's.

I'm trying to determine who I'd pick between Xenia and Jared. He's certainly the better performer, but yeah her voice is practically trance-inducing.
