NeoGAF APRIL 2012 Pick-Up Post!! Show Us Your Gaming Goods (Real pics or BAN!)!

I celebrated my 29th birthday on Sunday (4/15) so I picked up a couple things over the weekend:

1204-Birthday.jpg

The DSLite and MS Pro Duo were on clearance, Fishing Resort was only $20 @ Gamestop (and it's really fun!!), got the 3DS games at Gamestop (Spirit Camera is very short but really fun!!), Borderlands GOTY for $20 from Best Buy, and Princess and the Frog was finally ~$20 on Amazon so I grabbed that as well.

Happy belated birthday!
you share a birthday with the model in my avatar

Where did you get this one from? I have a good laugh at it! My artist friend is currently working on a future art exhibit where he has various Muppets characters in irregular situations... I.e., Kermit the frog with a big grin on his face after shooting up heroin. Twisted? Oh yes, but very funny!

Bowers & Wilkins 685 speakers and FS700CM stands for the rear channels of my HT setup and to compliment the 600 series fronts and centre I got back in February. Been on back order for nearly a month but got a fantastic price so can't grumble too much.

Nice - going to replace my 27 year old B&W DM220's with a pair of 683's over the summer. The DM220's work well, but the voice coils are starting to rub, especially on the tweeters. I've never owned a new pair of B&W's, so here goes.

Haha, yeah once I saw it I immediately had to get it. The idea from your friend sounds great. Would love to see it once his work is ready to be shown :)

Got the shirt from chemical-records.co.uk. You also have it in red on justanother.co.uk. The brand is Chunk, so depending on where you're from you might cut on shipping/customs by finding it locally. It's a UK brand though, and I have no idea what retail stores carry it.

This was my first Chunk tee. They have lovely designs, imho :). The prints as well as the stiching and quality of the used material is good. After a year of weekly wearing/washing the Vader one, it's still in good shape.

edit: regarding big pics: yea, made them a bit smaller, thnx guys.

Ghost in the Shell was a bit expensive (totally worth it though). I'm glad I didn't get charged any customs fees for it.

Dear Lain, thanks for remiding me for being terribly behind on Naoki Urasawa's series :'( How is Happy? Are the first volumes difficult to find? Knowing Planet Manga I can only imagine that it's a mess...

Anyway here's my April pickups so far:

bSY3Ul.jpg

Binary Domain - Indefinite halt due to the text being absolutely unreadable on my SDTV
Yakuza: Dead Souls - Will soon be playing this!
Assassin's Creed Revelations Ottoman Edition - Played and loved/hated it, SPOILERS
the ending left me a bit.... what? That's it?? Wasn't this supposed to end the Ezio's storyline?
Nightwarriors/Darkstalkers OVA Complete Collector's Series - Lucky find at €20! I've been looking for this for a while at a decent price.

P8QZll.jpg

Silent Hill Origins Ps2 - Another Lucky find at €15 at a local Gamestop.
Amon Amarth CDS - Awesome!

Corpse Party - I really rarely buy digital, but I feel that this is really worth it! Plus I had to support XSeed someway!
(I really suck at taking pictures, I know)

I think you need some more manga, dude.

In a way that's true. I'm still waiting on an order I made at the start of the month to ship.

Dear Lain, thanks for remiding me for being terribly behind on Naoki Urasawa's series :'( How is Happy? Are the first volumes difficult to find? Knowing Planet Manga I can only imagine that it's a mess...

Strange as it is, given that it is PlaMa, every volume is available. Happy is... something that makes me sad and rage.

yo Lain, I heard you like manga

I'm jelly of Space Brothers, awesome cover

Best part about the Space Brothers covers is the effect they give off when looking at them under direct light.

Danny Dudekisser

I paid good money for this Dynex!
The dude who bought entire too much manga also reminded me that I need to nab that Mardock Scramble BD sometime. I've become so disenchanted with anime in the last few years that when there is something interesting, I tend to just sleep on it now... Sigh...

I had no idea Happy! was published in English. Thanks for bringing that to my attention and great buys Lain. Especially Secretarial Drop lol

You can find them all on amazon.it, even though they seem to be low on stocks. I wish both Planet Manga and Starcomics would get some jiucy deal with amazon for their distribution, it would be a win-win for everyone.

They're all italian editions, actually. As far as I know Happy! is not published in English yet.

That is so freaking awesome. 1) Does it have English subtitles? I read on Zavvi that it only has Spanish subs 2) Do you know if they changed any of the music I.E Knights of the Zodiac?

Oh yes... The game has english subtitles. Music and dialogues are the same as the japanese version.

Hmm...look like we have some interesting taste of Manga. Did you collect any other Haruki's work or just Secretarial Section Drop only? Is that an English version or just the standard Japanese work? Kinda funny as I like his artwork style and Secretarial Section Drop was what hook me in. Wish he does more manga work that isn't into porn area but more of the story section (but I don't know if his fans will like that really as the story for Secretarial Section Drop is just a standard jdrama). If you didn't notice, they is a live action drama show in Japan based on the manga. Don't know if it's good as I never see it at all.

As for Masakazu Katsura, love his art style work and manga. Wish they is more of his work but can't really blame him too much. Actually, his manga work, I's, is what get me into manga when I was young kid. Wish I can say the same now.

Great speakers and that's one of my favorite movies as well. I wish I was there for the break-in movie lol. Enjoy!

Secret best movie wink!

Nice - going to replace my 27 year old B&W DM220's with a pair of 683's over the summer. The DM220's work well, but the voice coils are starting to rub, especially on the tweeters. I've never owned a new pair of B&W's, so here goes.

I've had the 683's for about two months now, replacing some rather old Missions, and after the initial break-in period of about a fortnight I can say without a doubt that they are truly the bee's knees. Some folks on a couple of forums grumble that the new B&W range are now made in China (most prominent brand loudspeakers are these days) but they are still designed in merry ol' England and built to precise specifications at their factory in Beijing with production overseen by TOP MEN (aka the B&W engineers). Keeps the price down so more people can enjoy that Bowers & Wilkins quality sound. You won't be disappointed, dude.

Out of curiosity, who is the publisher and are they translated in English?

Del Rey, the US publisher, only released 16 fucking books for the Nodame Cantabile series. >:O

edit: Wait, I think it says Italian in the margins. Fugggg

Well, in terms of pick-ups, I certainly went overboard this month! I'll take a picture of everything tomorrow and post it but I'm gonna need to figure out how to get the picture to show up on here correctly. I know how to get the pics onto the pc but after that I transfer them to say a Flickr account or imgur and after that I'd just copy the url of where the picture is at in here right? At that point I'm guessing the pic should show on here okay.

I will list out here what I got though and if anyone wants individual pics of any of it I'll be happy to post those tomorrow too.

Games:

-Disgaea 3 Vita-I'd bought it for PS3 a long time ago and only got a few hours into it but really liked it. Traded it for some other games at the time though. Vita should make it easier for shorter play sessions since I know I'm gonna have to do a crap ton of grinding in this game. Btw, I am now a believer in Amazon's release date delivery! That arrived here this morning at 11am no problem. Needless to say I'll be doing release date delivery whenever possible from now on. It's a LOT better than driving over to Gamestop and hoping they have copies left, etc.

-Pre-orders for Dragon's Dogma and Gravity Rush. Will pre-order The Last Story soon-just waiting for RDD option for it then I'll pre-order.

DVD's:

This is where I really went overboard I'm afraid...

-Complete series box set for The Dick Van Dyke Show..it's a show I've wanted to see all of for a while now, but it's usually around $150. Last week it was on sale on Amazon for $65! I was like may as well, I'm probably not going to find it much cheaper for a while! So I put that in my cart and did some more browsing which led to other things I've been wanting for a while ending up in there too..

-Season 1 of the original Knight Rider..I got seasons 2, 3 and 4 on sale a while back and really needed season 1 before I could start watching through the original series. Got it for $17.99 I think, good price for that at any rate!

-Parts 1 and 2 of Season 1 of the ABC Family sitcom Melissa and Joey..the pilot surprised me so I decided to get all of season 1 and watch that.

-Season 1 of the Pac Man cartoon-the one from the early 80's. Couldn't believe that got to DVD! I've wanted to see that for a while too so I got it as long as I was ordering stuff...

-And finally, the pick up that may interest quite a few people here..the Complete Series set of the cartoon Bobby's World. Hilarious show from what I remember, had only seen episodes here and there when it was originally on so decided to fix that so I can see every episode!

-Got a pre-order for another cartoon's complete series set coming out in June but may get laughed at for that one.

Again if anyone wants individual pictures of anything I'll be happy to take some! Everything costed...entirely way way too much so thank goodness for my tax refund this year!

Just got my Nintendo's copy of Xenoblade that I'll keep sealed FOREVAH with the Nintendo bill to add some authenticity accompanied by my Gamestop opened copy ! I'm pretty sure I won't regret this move in a few years, first game bought new to keep sealed at retail price ever. So, yeah, I'm at the triple-dip stage now with the PAL version. D:

It's been a while since I've bought anything but i see that they launched Toriko in Italy, Is that the number 1 or 7?

First volume. Had some trouble finding it for some reasons when it released and only managedto get it this month.

So far, apart from that one, I have the first 3 Secretarial Section Drops, the first 4 volumes of Sense and Love to the Utmost. They are all Italian editions though. I got into Haruki because of the artworks too, and love how he isn't graphic at all in Sense but goes almost always into imagination/teasing mode.

Out of curiosity, who is the publisher and are they translated in English?

Yep, they are Italian editions.
