So I own a HRAP EX. Buttons are covered. But I would like to replace the ball top with a bat top. Does that require any soldering skills? Or it is just unscrewing the ball top? It doesn't appear that I could unscrew the ball top without opening the enclosure. It that right?
Correct. There is a notch on the underside of the lever to place a flathead screwdriver to hold it in place and let you unscrew the balltop.

Also FYI, you will need a 7mm nut driver to get to the internals once you unscrew the metal plate.

And remember to get a sanwa JLF battop adapter. The battop is intended for the wider-shafted JLW sticks.

So what are the chances of finding a TE stick in the wild today... are any stores selling them with out preorders? Has anyone seen them @ Best Buy? I know the site says online only, but it says that for the controllers too and everyone's Best Buys eemed to have had them...
Considering most people who preorder them, still havent recieved them, I think the chances of finding one are very slim. Apparantely some GS stores recieved some extras, but by this time Im sure most have been snatched up. Anything is possible, but I wouldnt waste the time looking.

Wow. I might just skip that mod. I'm terrible with tools and crap like that. The buttons are quick disconnects so that should be easy.

Since you're replacing buttons, you might as well do it.

You only need to hold the stick's bottom shaft with flat screwdriver and twist the balltop to remove it.
Then just get a battop (with adapter to make it fit with the shaft) and screw it back.

Someone I know wants to trade me $150 cash and their HRAP3 for my pre-ordered TE stick.

I'm a pretty casual gamer when it comes to fighters but I love shmups. Should I do the trade? Is the TE that much better than the HRAP3?

That's a pretty good deal.

I mean, you can literally rebuy a new TE when the third shipment comes through in late March and basically get an HRAP for free.

So, can anyone confirm that the SF FightPads are going back to print after this already sold out run?
I don't think so, but why are you asking about pads in a stick thread?

That is a pretty fair trade. HRAP3 is about $100, so thats $250 for your $150 TE stick, about what it is going for on eBay AFAIK. And the HRAP3 is good joystick. And you can mod it with TE buttons for about $30 in parts.

What kind of HAPP stick would work best with the TE? Kinda interested in mixing the play style up a bit.

There's some vids on the front page of SRK that say that HAPP and TE don't play together nicely. It'd be a lot of work to get that in. Check it out.

That SE Fight Stick is a piece of crap.

I was just playing SFIV online, and the damn thing stopped going left, so I couldn't back up on one side and I couldn't go forward on the other.

Garbage.

If you guys are picking it up, you're definitely going to want to order a Sanwa replacement stick right away.

The warranty on the MadCatz website says it's 5 years but only 90 days for "Licensed Products." Do the SFIV peripherals fall under that category?

Yes, the warranty is 90 days in North America.

Will the LS-32-01 take a Sanwa JLF-CD shaft cover?

No, it won't, the LS-32 shaft is very slightly wider in diameter/circumference than the Sanwa JLF and the JLF shaft cover won't fit. :( I really wish Seimitsu or Sanwa made white shaft covers to match up with the Wii Fighting stick I modded.

Man, I can't believe Amazon is completely cleared out. I still have a PS3 SE stick preordered as I didn't know if I could get my HRAP2:SA to talk to my PS3 properly (waiting on another adapter) ...but all of these poo poo opinions make me wonder if I should cancel it.

What to do

My SE stick arrived, and so far so good. I spent about 45 minutes with it and everything works fine. The square gate is going to take some getting used to, but I'm very pleased so far.

VF5 is finally playable!

Thanks, you've saved me a few quid :)

Yes

As far as people canceling their pre-orders or returning their FightStick SE's go... that's on them. No one forced them to do it. They've read the reviews, seen feedback from end-users and decided on their own that it is in their best interest, whatever the reason, to do so.

I hardly think people are "over reacting" to various reports of the sticks "sticking" or destroyed pcb's. When you spend $80 on a joystick, even if it does have clone parts, you expect it to work properly and last more than a few days.

While the numbers certainly don't lie (it is cheaper to buy a FSSE and mod it with full Sanwa/Seimitsu parts than get a HRAP EX and do the same.. about the same price for Triple users, IIRC), some people would prefer to not have to worry about swapping out their joysticks after several days of use.

Or not being able to get said joystick replaced by MadCatz because they opened the stick.

For me, I honestly don't care too much for the artwork on the SE, although it is a great-looking stick. That's really the only advantage it has over the HRAP EX for me. I prefer the color scheme and the look of the HRAP EX, and the HRAP has a real Sanwa stick. I already have buttons. So why should I keep the FSSE? No reason to.

And even if I didn't plan on changing the buttons, Hori buttons > MadCatz buttons, so there you go.

Opening up the FightPad tonight, hopefully that goes smoothly.

I would just like to say that Amazon can suck a fat one... I've got both SF4 + TE stick pre-ordered there, and the delivery estimates are 2/20 and 2/25, respectively.

And I'm arguably the biggest Amazon fanboy in the world.

I'm right there with you. Amazon is usually on point but they let me down big time with SF4.

my TE says 25th as well. I will never pre-order from there ever again

:lol Damn, can I be your brother too?

:lol Sheet, you worked with my brother at 1up.

Well, I just donated the preorder, he still has to give me the $150:D Jeff mentioned that you also had two TE preorders. Are you waiting for them from Amazon as well?

Amazon MUST pull through this week otherwise I'll be mighty disappointed. My brother needs a good stick...maybe he will finally be inclined to go online!

yeah...my Amazon order for the SE stick says arriving on the 27th. I pre-ordered it in early January. FUUUCCKCKCKCKCK

Has anyone received their Amazon pre-orders yet?

Also, it looks like Barnes and Noble has them available right now and ready to ship (although it ships from gamestop, which is weird because gamestop doesn't even have the damn sticks listed on their site). Has anyone ordered their sticks from B&N.com?

I'm very tempted to just order from there and cancel my amazon order.

Try going to Gamestop B&M.

I saw boxes of them when I returned my SE earlier.

I used to live near one of those but have since moved to the east coast. Sadly, none of those near me. Plenty of gamestops, and plenty of B&N stores, but no combo stores.

Regular B&N don't sell games and accessories do they?

Ah, I actually meant Gamestop (brick & mortar, i.e. in-store, not their online store).

I don't think I've seen many video game peripherals at Barnes & Noble.

Hori Arcade EX-SE 360 a viable alternative to the TE? Opinions are mixed.

The EX-SE is an entirely different beast with all-Seimitsu parts versus the TE's all-Sanwa parts. Whether it's a viable alternative to any person depends on whether one prefers to use Sanwa or Seimitsu parts.

Where did you read these "mixed opinions"? I'm curious to read what people have to say about it myself.

Pretty much what Baron said. The EX-SE is equal to the TE. I'd argue that the EX-SE is a bit more practical cause it also doubles as a perfect shooter stick. The lever is soldered so, perhaps, that us why you heard a mixed opinion. That said, the TE is better than the stock EX.

Me. Ordered Friday, got it today.

So is B&N probably the best place to get a SE stick at this point? I called pretty much every store in my town that might possibly have it and none of them do. Amazon isnt selling it anymore either. Any news on when Gamestop might get more sticks in? None of the local stores seemed to know anything.

Speaking of the Hori Real Arcade Pro EX-SE...

Mine arrived this afternoon from UPS. Took a few pictures for the curious. As I don't own a 360 (yet) I'm just leaving the nappy plastic wrap on the top panel on, I'll remove it when I actually get to use the stick. This is my first experience with Seimitsu buttons, I already modded a HRAP2SA with an LS-32 stick, though. The buttons feel - interesting. I might even like these better for shmups than Sanwa buttons - we'll see.

What a piece of shit..

Looking good. I modded my HRAP3 with Seimitsu buttons as I prefer the feel of them. I was thinking about picking up a Hori Real Arcade Pro EX-SE for SF and certain shmups I've been passing up.

Looks like all the people who ordered from Videogamecentral.com are fucked. Been calling all day. Was told this morning that as long as the order was placed by Jan 28th, then it was going out today.

Just called a few minutes ago

I: " I wanted to find the status of my order"
she: "is this regarding the arcade sticks?"
I: " yes"
she: " everyone will be getting an email about the status of their order "
I: "the same one?"
she: "yes"
....

not good news at all
i have a feeling it's just going to be a generic email like this morning about being "back ordered"

Now awaiting email before I click "dispute charge" on my Capital One website.

SRK Forums. Basically the whole "tech talk" and a german board for sticks. Now, does anybody know a store where i can order this in Europe? I spent the last hour finding a source for this thing. No luck yet. Id rather skip on 80$ shipping if i can...

:lol :lol You sure dug your own grave on this one.

To ad insult to injury, I just heard my email alert go on. I hurried to my phone to see what it was. It was an Amazon.com ship notification for my SF4 strategy guide.....

Oh it just BURNS!!!!

! Im not even kidding, but 4 seconds ago, my phone rang with the Automated Gamestop voice telling me SF4 was in stock!!! ARRRRRRRRRRGGHHHH

Same thing happened to mine today.

I'd feel confident in saying that all SEs (w/ stock parts) will shit out.
