Someone I know wants to trade me $150 cash and their HRAP3 for my pre-ordered TE stick.
I'm a pretty casual gamer when it comes to fighters but I love shmups. Should I do the trade? Is the TE that much better than the HRAP3?
Yes
As far as people canceling their pre-orders or returning their FightStick SE's go... that's on them. No one forced them to do it. They've read the reviews, seen feedback from end-users and decided on their own that it is in their best interest, whatever the reason, to do so.
I hardly think people are "over reacting" to various reports of the sticks "sticking" or destroyed pcb's. When you spend $80 on a joystick, even if it does have clone parts, you expect it to work properly and last more than a few days.
While the numbers certainly don't lie (it is cheaper to buy a FSSE and mod it with full Sanwa/Seimitsu parts than get a HRAP EX and do the same.. about the same price for Triple users, IIRC), some people would prefer to not have to worry about swapping out their joysticks after several days of use.
Or not being able to get said joystick replaced by MadCatz because they opened the stick.
For me, I honestly don't care too much for the artwork on the SE, although it is a great-looking stick. That's really the only advantage it has over the HRAP EX for me. I prefer the color scheme and the look of the HRAP EX, and the HRAP has a real Sanwa stick. I already have buttons. So why should I keep the FSSE? No reason to.
And even if I didn't plan on changing the buttons, Hori buttons > MadCatz buttons, so there you go.
Opening up the FightPad tonight, hopefully that goes smoothly.
