Okay. Earlier today Amazon had HRAPEXes in stock :(

I think the only hraps that are soldered are the game branded ones like the tekken and sfIV ones, and the death smiles(?) stick. not sure but i think the joystick on the hrap for the 360 is soldered in too.
Yeah, the Sticks on 360 HRAPs (both vanilla and SE) are soldered.

Just a warning for people who are going to buy an SE stick. I don't think they fixed them at all because I just got mines yesterday and I ordered it last Friday. The LT button wasn't working so I called them and I'm returning it to get another one. I probably have to wait 2 weeks for the stick to come. Thanks Alot Madcatz :(

The first licensed HRAP stick was the Capcom Fighting Jam stick... it had QD for both stick/buttons.

Everything after that has had buttons directly soldered onto the PCBs :(

Haunts,

You could always check locally with Fry's or Game Crazy (as was mentioned). Your best bet is getting your hands on the SE and letting Akuma001 (since you do hang out together)mod it for you, dual PCB goodness. Just make sure to order the replacement parts.

And it takes a hell of a lot more work to get the EX2 modded to an acceptable level than the SE.

thats a good idea.. ill call frys..

Yes...the madness continues... SFIV has thrown the peripheral market on its head. It took the old king of the streets to show there is a market for fighting game peripherals (in the U.S....Japan is fine).

Sorry to hear they're still having quality control issues at Madcatz. That sucks.

And the HRAP EXs are soldered points...not five pins like Dementia said. Not a huge deal...if you know which pin goes to which...but it would've been easier for their techs and modders...if they included the five pin connector.

Yet again my Tournament Edition stick has been delayed. Thankfully I have my HRAP 3 to play Street Fighter IV with. If that wasn´t the case I wouldn´t bee playinh it.

Yea it really sucks. I waited like 2 weeks after the announcement of them fixing every stick for free. I thought that when they brought back the SE sticks on their website, that they would be the fixed ones. I guess I am wrong but that means they didn't anything :(

there aren't instructions i think because byrdo sells the sticks he makes
It's not just his sticks though, that one was just used as an example. I've seen loads using the same style (not necessarily slim like that, but the same shape.)

I get the feeling I'll be randomly signing up to forums and messaging people. :lol

Behold, my custom keyboard-joystick hybrid (a joy-board maybe?) in its [practically] final form.

Emptyshiki on SRK does great work!

That's... interesting, I must say. I'm curious as to why you would use that over a normal keyboard though, other than the novelty factor.

I SERIOUSLY need to get used to my TE stick, I have the hardest times with roll moves for some reason.

don't ride the square gate. you can do your roll moves without pushing the stick all the way to the edge and against the gate.

Fuck, Gamestop finally got my PS3 TE stick in that I preordered in November! I preordered my 360 stick from the same store (a couple months later, no doubt) and got it waaaaaaay before.

It's currently awaiting my Seimitsu parts from LizardLick to show up and ingest. :D Til then, I threw in an Ultimate modded JLF w/ the octo gate I had laying around from my HRAP3.

BTW, if anyone wanted to snag my JLF stick (x2) and Sanwa pushbuttons from my TE for their stick, PM me and we can work something out when I get my parts in.

he's going to be sorely disappointed once he finds out how easy it is to avoid the raging demon. Akuma's air fireballs are very weak, i don't see how you could defeat anyone spamming that.

I played against an Akuma who just kept jumping back and spamming air hadokens and regular hadokens. I was Cammy. He beat me the first round but then I made quick work of him the next 3.

Does the oct gate improve anything?

Normal keyboards can't be used as controllers on ps3/360?

I did have someone make an actual controller out of a PC keyboard, but it just doesn't work that well. Tape had to be used instead of solder due to certain limitations in the innards of the keyboard

Lizard Lick really must be swamped... I put in an order on Feb. 18th, still haven't heard anything yet. Didn't even order anything special, just a Bat-Top and a new restrictor...

Nice! Exact same scheme I am planning to use on my Death Smiles HRAPs.

Oh, and look what I got this morning:

Shipment Tracking
Seller's Name: Lizard Lick Amusements
Seller's Email: sales@lizardlick.com
Transaction ID: FGSFDS
Transaction Date: Feb. 16, 2009 11:58:38 PST

So It would seem that Chad is two weeks behind, rounded up, in case anyone is wondering.

He's swamped, give the guy a break!

still waiting on my stuff that I ordered on Feb 17 :( It's now 2 weeks and 1 day :(

So I'm still waiting for the call from my B&M GameStop about my 360 TE Stick. Has anyone who got shafted on the initial allotment like me gotten theirs yet? I sent a text message to my buddy -- who's the assistant manager -- to check in, but he hasn't replied yet. The bastid...

That's really unfortunate that Lizard Lick seems to have dropped the ball here. I've ordered from them before, back in December, and it took all of three days from order to my doorstep for me to receive my order - and I'm on the other side of the country from them. Surely they must know that they are one of, if not the only, well-known places in the entire country to buy arcade joystick parts at retail. Why didn't they prepare for this rush? Hire a temp worker or two? They have my sympathy, but if Akihabarashop can get my order out to me with no apparent delay, they should be able to adapt to do the same. Come on, they don't need to hire people with doctorates to pack boxes and ship products out.

i didn't get mine yet. hopefully i'll get it today.

So whats the consensus about a Dec. 30th 360 TE order that they say MadCatz "pushed the release date back two weeks", now says they will email me with a shipping date when they have one. Is there anyone who still has a ship date for their amazon order? Id like to know which one is the worse off position to be in.

So in general people are happy with their TE sticks?

I was hoping to get an HRAP awhile ago and mod it, but prices weren't really much better on them, and I thought I read the sticks on those are soldered and don't have the 5 pin connectors? I really want whatever I get to be easily fixable/changeable.

I put in an order for a TE stick, but I'm wondering if they'll just never arrive or take forever. Supposedly they're coming mid-March (this is Canada).

There might be a modded Fighting Stick 3 I could get my hands on, probably for half what a TE is. I don't know if I'd be happy with that.

I'd be happy when I actually get one of the 4 I have on pre order. Stupid amazon fucking around with my shipping dates. I just pre ordered everywhere I could and I still don't have :(

Quite frankly, I've worked for small retail operations before and I can't blame them one bit. The demand for arcade parts in light of the SFIV release is REALLY quite unprecedented from my memories.

It's really easier said than done for small companies like these to heavily ramp up operations in preparation for a retail event for which few predicted the intensity and the popularity. I'd imagine that Akihabarashop, just by its international operations and the variety of its selection, has much more extensive operations and wider market than Lizardlick.

In addition, don't forget that Lizardlick is a very niche retailer. Looking at its offerings, I don't imagine that it's necessarily a high volume nor high margin business. Though I can't speak on their behalf since I don't know their operations well, it's not always possible for a small business to generate enough resources to be able to handle this kind of demand.

I'd cut them some slack.

I agree there's no way he could have seen this coming, i mean, even madcatz didn't make enough standard edition fightsticks or pads judging by the ebay prices, and every other stick seems to have sold out as well with hraps going for double the price on ebay and even stores selling out of the craptastic hori ex2

Yeah, in light of everything I kind of feel bad for the guy at Lizard Lick for all the business he's getting. :P

Seriously, though - he must be loving all the new business, and wishing he'd have been charging more for these parts initially. I hope this influx helps them to stick around for a bit - in quieter times they are a great - and punctual - source for parts.

I must say, though, everyone knew SF4 was coming on a certain date for months - it boggles the mind as to why people didn't have some foresight and ordered/gotten their stuff beforehand. I know if I had been gearing up for a game like SF4 (which I don't plan on buying for a while, SF2 HDR is fine for now) I'd have had all my stuff ordered and on the way so as to be all set the day the game came out.

Yup. Sometimes you just get swamped and all you can do is keep pushing as hard as you can. Probably wouldn't even help to get temp staff in as you'd spend a ton of time showing them what to do.

I dunno, I don't think it would take much time to teach someone how to stick stuff in a box.

I placed an order with LL weeks ago, and I understand the guy's swamped, but it takes a few minutes to just go online and let everyone know what's up. It's smart business. Akihabara Shop's main page clearly shows what orders they're currently working on. That's great. Far better than a simple 'you may have to wait 2 weeks' message and relaying secondhand information through SRK forum posters. It would be nice if he just edited the front page of his site or the OP in his SRK thread with a little more info. "These items are OOS, I'm working on orders from this date, blah blah blah." I shouldn't have to wade through all the crybaby and groupie SRK posts just to get to that info.

In theory. Until everyone started getting the wrong buttons etc. :D

(I don't have a good track record with temporary help)

It's all preference. I don't adapt well to the square at all no matter how long I've tried. If it's fully circular or octo, I'm in bliss. I even don't have any issues with charge characters on those gates.

Square gate is better. There's a reason it's default in most arcades. On another note, lizardlick finally shipped my buttons that I ordered 3 weeks ago.

Which buttons? I'm waiting on my white sanwas.

I love akihabarashop!!! My latest order came from them today via EMS shipping (I like getting my stuff sooner then later).

I snapped some pics, I changed the stock square gate for an Octagonal restrictor plate. So far I REALLY like the change. I can hear and feel where the stick is positioned.
