Another thing you might want to check out is adding a little electric tape in order to get a more restricted feel. Foxspirit helped me out with this when I was popping in my Sanwa 8-way gate in my HRAP3.

I didn't do too much in terms of exchanging the spring, but with that mod, I have a shorter throw which makes it way easier for my own personal control. Everyone's mileage will differ as some people like their sticks with a little more play, but I'm really glad I did this and will probably do the same with my SFIV stick.
I'll make sure to do this once I get my parts. Favorited it for later use. Thanks again man.

I sold off my DC stick after I found out that my VSHG worked on my Mac.

my HRAP3 shipped today from amazon. (: estimated delivery is dec 31st.

Yeah well I live in Alaska, so that's okay for me! =P

...I also went ahead and bought a 10ft USB extension cable as I sit about 11ft from my actual PS3

That type of buttons and stick would I need to convert the inexpensive HRAP 3 to something that mimics the HRAP 3SA?

I wanna order from Lizard Lick but I'm not quite sure what to order. Thank if anybody can help.

You only need:
8x Sanwa OBSF-30.
2x Sanwa OBSF-24.

I've been lurking in this thread forever agonizing over what stick I wanted. I was so very close to getting an AIAB, but gift cards and such pushed me in a different direction - now I'm getting the SF IV TE stick and a HRAP3.

I just preordered the SFIV TE stick from GameStop and I'll get the HRAP3 from Amazon. Once I play around with them a bit, I'll think about modding the HRAP3.

MarkMan how limited at the MadCatz SF IV TE sticks going to be? I placed my order on Amazon only yesterday.

Any ideas?

Not that GameStop is Amazon, but I was just told by a guy when I pre-ordered (he's a smart guy, not a mouth breather), that they are going to be very limited. If you miss a cut off date, you're screwed.

If you preordered and they are still selling, then you're probably alright.

Is there a switchable (from the top) 4-way/8-way stick part that is worth a damn?

It's completely impossible to make a stick with a gate switchable from 4- to 8-way from outside the casing. You would have to redesign and rebuild the stick mechanism from scratch to accomodate a series of complex motors and locks which would rotate the gate from within when activated by an electronic switch on the outside of the casing.

If you want a switchable 4- to 8-way gate, they exist, and in order to change the gate orientation you have to open up the stick case and manually switch it.

That'd be HRAP 3SA accurate, but i think he can live without Sanwa goodness on the start/select buttons :)

This is true. Just save some cash and leave the Start and Select button alone. You don't play on those. :lol

The feeling of total fulfillment and complete superiority from having an all-Sanwa arcade button layout on your premium, high-end stick is well worth the extra six dollars those final two buttons will cost.

And oh, it feels so good.

I will have that feeling around February. :D

I have that feeling right around now.

My HRAP3 SA arrived on Christmas Eve last week - perfect timing! I held off on taking any pics until now, as my wife finally returned to work today after her holiday. She'd think I was too weird if she saw me snapping photos of a game controller. :P

I took a few sexy new stick shots for those who wanted a closer look at the stick and packaging.

Does the SA open from the top?

Yes, yes it does open from the top. The top plates on the SA/SE HRAPs can be removed directly from the stick casing by removing those screws. It makes it so much easier and quicker to open up and mod them than the stock HRAPs. That is not to say it is difficult to open the stock HRAPs, they are easy and simple themselves - but it's just that much easier to open the SAs.

A big chunk of the time spent modding stock non-SA HRAPs is merely opening up and closing up the stick.

I have the same stick for PS3, just the HRAP3 face buttons I swapped out for sanwa and left the start and select button alone. Colors are top row yellow, bottom row red. Figured to do something oddball. Haha. By February I'll have the SFIV stick for my 360. Goo times ahead.

You bastards...! :lol All this talk about that SF4 TE Stick made me end up pre-ordering one now at Amazon (along with SF4 collector's edition, both for PS3)...I was planning to wait until the end of January to do it but all this talk of 'limited' pushed me to the edge =P

I think I'll be selling my other joysticks (except my VSHG) soon to make room for this bad boy. I'll order another 8-way gate and a bat top from Lizard Lick sometime in February too.

I made mine with Sanwa parts I bought from Akiba's Aracde shop for people in the industry. All of the parts are the same ones inside the SFIV/BlazBlue unit. It took 20 minutes and cost me around 5000円 total for the parts and stick. Amazing deal! I got a stick just as good parts as that expensive SFIV stick! :lol

The HRAP3 SA of mine there already comes stock with all-Sanwa buttons. That's why it was given the "SA" part of the name, for "Special Addition". Did you just swap the buttons out on your stick because you wanted different colored buttons, or are you confusing this with another stick?

The non-SA HRAP3's come with Hori buttons, not Sanwa, though.

三和電子製30mm押しボタン OBSF-30 (Buttons, 30mm) x6
目隠しキャップ(30,24) OBSM 30,24 (Button Stoppers, 30mm) x2

5pin装着タイプ。4-8方向の切り替えがワンタッチ。
レバーボール標準付属。レバー個別パーツも注文可能です。
(The stick) x1

Once you get the stick, let me know so I can tell you how to do it. But these are the best parts.

Don't be a dumbass and waste money on 8 buttons. No arcade in Japan has 8 buttons.

Yes, I love Hori's simple/clean boxes.

I love the shiny cardboard ;)

Oh and to the ppl inquiring about the limited release of the TE sticks, I can't say a number (sorry), but they are definitely limited.

Does the SA open from the top?
just thought about something: what the hell is keeping regular HRAP3 owners from buying these kind of screws to put replace the bolts on their hraps? anything, really? because I can't think of any.

Interest. Once you've taken it apart once to do whatever you want to it, what reason would you have to open it up again?

replacing parts. different color setup. interest in trying a different brand of stick or button. experimenting going from ball-top to bat-top. installing a second PCB. or hell...a third (in my case).

but your point is a good one. most might only need to get in there once every 2 years. for them, it doesn't matter in the slightest.

playasia.com be dammed. Lizardlick.com just got my money for the Tournament Edition SFIV Stick.

Sorry playasia. Every day that passed was the chance that I would miss out.

I've asked a couple of times... but I'll try again.

Anyone know where you can pre-order the SFIV stick from in the UK? It's either that or finally get around to getting a custom setup made.

OK budget stick Great for modding
Ok budget stick, great case for modding even though wiring a sitck to it is tricky .
I had no problem fitting sanwa buttons and stick in it

About stock parts
The stock buttons were stiff and stick was loose with huge gap between the shaft and switches.
