Is it not in MadCatz's best interest to make more so they can sell more and hence make more money?

No doubt. And I'm sure that is why they have come out saying that they will make a decision on whether or not to make more after they see how this initial batch goes.

But I'm sure a lot more goes into it then just the pre-order numbers. Would time constraints prevent MadCatz from meeting the inflated number of pre-orders Gamestop would have taken in your scenario? Also, we don't know the % of people who follow through on their pre-orders at Gamestops. Especially with something like an arcade stick. Seeing how this first batch goes will allow them to make a smart decision on whether or not to do another run. I doubt either MadCatz or Gamestop want to end up with TE sticks sitting on their shelves and having to have their price dropped like the Halo 3 Legendary Edition.

I'm sure in a perfect world MadCatz would like to make 1 TE stick for everyone who wants one. It's just not practical to produce that number on your first try. And from a business standpoint, on your first run, you'd rather sell all of your stock than have too much of it sit and collect dust.

Yeah, I definitely understand that. I will say however, that with gamestop requiring a $50 deposit, I'd think people wouldn't put down that kind of money unless they were serious about following through, but I dunno.

At least it will give me an excuse to flip out on some gamestop employees!

Im thinking about ordering the TE and wanted to know if it was octagon gate or a square gate and im sry if this has be answered before.

8 way gate.

You cant play sf with a 4 way gate actually because that only 4 different directions. You would only have up down left right. I am assuming that is not his question. I think he means what shape gate it is. Maybe I am incorrect.

Nakazato you probably should rephrase your question.

Sry i was wondering if it was a square or an octagon. but most of you guy were able to understand what i was getting at.

Got a follow up question. How hard would it be to replace the gate and would I benefit from having one.

Edit: Damn it I just wish is could get my hands on one of these to test

... A custom 360 stick for the impending release of DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou! Also works really well with Senko No Ronde.

HOLY. Looks like I'll be getting my first import 360 game very soon. Glad I haven't picked up the ps2 version yet.

Thanks for the info

"Got a follow up question. How hard would it be to replace the gate and would I benefit from having one."

Not very difficult, you press on these black tabs on the bottom of the stick and pull out the old one, push the new one back on. As far as whether you'd benefit or not, that's really up to you. Square vs. Octagon is entirely preferential, there's no actual benefit to using one over the other, only what you prefer.

I watched the GS ces video that featured the TE stick, looks like a square gate.

I also hope madcatz makes a template available for the top before the stick comes out so I can get working on it.

It is square, an MarkMan said he'd upload a TE template soon.

I'm looking to import the Hori Real Arcade Pro 2: SA

According to reports/reviews, it's pretty much compatible with everything (if you have a USB adapter) outside Xbox,360, and Wii. Is this true? as I want this to be my definitve stick and finally hit up the PS2's extensive fighter backlog

I was going to order a Regular SFIV stick, but decided after I would put nice sanwa parts in it the cost difference was mostly negligible. Not by alot, but enough to justify that nice housing that the TE is in.

I made the gamestop manager look me in the eye and tell me they would have some left. If they cancel on me, tears will be shed.

I have a HRAP1 (non-mirror top), and recently purchased a Cube Joybox Pro for use on Wii. I had read that only official Sony PCB's would work, and some people had experienced issues with their HRAP's not working.. while others reported it working fine. Add me to the 'working fine' list!

So if you don't like it, don't buy it.
That was kind of the idea. I was saying I don't like the trend in general 'cause alternative options are drying up fast since everyone's jumping onboard with the same annoying design.

Does anyone know for a fact that GS has gone over their allotment of sticks, or just speculating at this point? I ordered mine back in November and of course the manager promised mine would be in store, but if it is out of his control and the store doesnt receive a shipment, there is not anything he can do. Anyone who has worked for GS or is working for them now, know if they cut people off or not on preorders?

why wouldn't the store receive a shipment? If they took your money as a deposit for the stick, then you will get it.

Stands to reason, but if they accepted more preorders than what they have been allotted, then some people are going to be turned away even when they have paid money for it.

When I pre-ordered my stick I asked if they would be receiving enough. The guy told me they don't stop taking pre-orders, they just send the number they need to the company and then when the stuff comes in the pre-orders get first pick.

So it's possible there will be more pre-orders than they can fulfill, especially considering theres only 3000 sticks total...

Yeah. I wish I had preordered earlier. But the $50 deposit was why I had to wait. Hopefully I wasn't too late.

If I don't get one I'm going to burn down the gamestop I preordered from. Then while inside the smoldering rubble i'll get one of the SF4 pads with the game and order a HRAP3 down the road.

6.5 lbs, same as Virtua Stick High Grade.

Cord is 4m long.
Damn, 6.5 lbs? That sounds like a beefy fucking joystick. Also glad to hear its got some length to the cord. I was a bit worried about that given the distance between my 360 and the couch.

Man, I just gotta say this is madness. I've never spent this much money on a peripheral. But I gotta do what I gotta do; play SFIV the way it's meant to be played. Plain and simple.

Heads up on the Tournament Sticks for those that missed them. Gamecrazy has them in their system along with an advert at the front counter for preorder. I put $10 down for a second version for PS3.

Also, what does the Digital/Analog switch do? I've seen these on my HRAPs as well.

If anyone cares... here is some data, forgive the quick pics, I didn't have a proper area to lay them out nicely...

Decided to use these 3 for comparison:

Feb 17th is forever away.
Those pictures are amazing mark. Thanks for all the forum support, on every board. You are doing a great job.

Cannot wait to have this TE stick sitting next to my vshg. Good times. Markman great job on the sticks. I hope they are paying you well. You definitely deserve it.

I've probably missed out on the TE stick (Should've ordered sooner ;_;), but the regular edition looks great too from what I've seen and learned about it. Thanks for answering my questions MarkMan, you've been a great help!

really wish i bought a VSHG when they made them :/

I love my custom hrap2 to bits, but I wouldn't mind the HG's lower profile...

Going to have to set up a SF IV + Mad Catz SFIV fight stick 360 preorder asap.

EDIT: I'd also like to know how the digital/analog switch would come in handy. Is that there in case you want to use the stick with other genres that might require certain sensitivity levels?

Some games exclusively use the analog stick for control, this way virtually everything is compatible.

How do I get the Hori DOA4 stick to work with MAME?

The buttons work but the stick does not, when I try to assign the stick positions it doesn't even register. The stick works fine in windows and with other emu's but not with MAME.

I have tried using XBCD but cannot as I am using Vista 64 and it won't accept unsigned drivers (at least not without a hack). So I take it there have been others with this problem (and I assume I will have the same problem with the TE), and if so what did you do to get it working...help me GAF you're my only hope.

I never understood why they put short cords on sticks. I love my VSHG but the cord is ridiculous. I have to sit on the edge of the coutch to be able to use it, if i lean back it will pop out of the ps3 :lol I need a extension cord...

It's like 1,5 m or something. Alot shorter than the standard Dualshock 2 cord.

Well I can't really complain since i got it for like 50$. But still feels like quite the oversight.

It works just fine in MAMEui, I let Windows XP find the drivers and when I loaded up MAMEui, hit P and then Tab to set up the joystick to work with the game.

Keystone 2 has had their SF4 sticks for a while. From latest quore.

They also have the console version of SF4 I believe(could be arcade version). I noticed that in the 1up show but they sort of passed by the screen very fast. They showed it in quore though.

fake edit: Markman says they are prototypes.

You need XBCD drivers.

Even then, LT/RT won't play nice together, so you need to the special .xgi file to map them to digital inputs. Otherwise, you can't do 3K...only 2 buttons will register.
