Sorry if this has been asked, but what are the odds of me walking into a gamestop on February 17/18 and being able to buy the SFIV SE stick?

Nil

The stores won't order any from MadCatz if you didn't preorder.

There is 0% chance of this.

MadCatz released a PR yesterday to their UK press saying that they underestimated demand in the UK for the TE and that they are trying to make more before the launch... I'm expecting them to make a similar announcement for the North American region soon.

As for crossplatform support -- currently, there is no official way to do it between PS3 and 360. But they should work on PC (I mean the 360 one will for sure, but I think the PS3 one will as well.)

The SFIV pads are pretty slick too, but unless you're really adament about dpad playing, they're kind of redundant and at $40, I'd rather just drop the additional $$ to get a stick. They feel good though... super thin... just wish they were wireless.

PS3 versions of the d-pads are wireless

I know this has been asked before, but I havent found any reply yet. Sorry if I missed it. Does the cord of the TE stick have a breakaway connection? Seth mentioned in one CES video how tough the connection is, so I would guess not, but Im curious.

3000? Are you shitting me? That's fucking ridiculous, I am pissed as fuck that I can't even pre-order one of these things less than two weeks after they were officially priced. Come on, why even bother making them if they are going to make so few and hype the hell out of them? God, I am pissed.

I guess my question is whether or not it is worht it to get the 360 regular stick. I have a Hori EX2, and it kinda blows for SFIITHDR, is this one better? I might have to pre-order the lesser stick instead.

Also, I heard that there was finally a way to use 360 sticks on PS3, any word on that?

First of all, the price has been known for a lot longer than two weeks. Even if it wasn't completely official, we knew the price as far back as Dec. 8th. That was when I reserved mine. And like I tell everyone who was on the fence, you should have pre-ordered at Amazon. It costs nothing and you could have canceled anytime prior to the product shipping.

Oh, and you can still pre-order from here: http://store.videogamecentral.com/xbox360-sf4-arcade-stick-tournament-edition.html

Touche... And the PS3 version of SFIV comes with Ken instead of randomboobscharacter... pretty much made the decision PS3 for me.

Funny choice.

I chose my game due to much better online system with xbl. Party, friends list integration, easier to organize people together.

I am getting CE for ps3 and normal for 360 though. Will be playing the 360 version.

What should be my button layout for kof XI on a 6 button 3 row stick?

No, it comes with Ryu

Touche, again. That's twice in one page... I fixed it for stupidity's sake. I was thinking that the 360 version should have come with Ken, to level out with the PS3 version coming with Ryu... And I ended up writing "Ken" down instead.

this thread is so huge so sorry since this has probably been asked.

but what is the general consensus on this stick?

i see that its madcatz but i remember reading that they got their act together. seems like a better option than getting the pad. a simple yes or no is good, gracias
It's not that great quality but it's super easy to mod up to great quality is what I am reading.

I think different people will say different things, but if I were you I'd use a Tekken style layout, punches up top, kicks down below. Some people might say to use:

-BCD
A

Or something like that, but I reckon it'd be too confusing. Pretty sure that some cabinets in Japan use a Tekken style layout as well. Just something like:

-AC
BD

Woops, glad I asked, then. I thought it was just the TE sticks that were preorder only. Guess I'll be preordering tomorrow.

Whats wrong with Happ Controls? I use to buy my arcade parts from them all the time; everyone seems to hate their products.

~edit~ Nevermind! this FAQ answered my question:
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=118289

Q: Can you compare and contrast Happ joysticks with Sanwa and Seimitsu joysticks?
A: Sure, I’ll help you out! The first difference people notice is the look. Happ parts are fitted with a bat top (sometimes called tear drop) while Sanwa and Seimitsu come standard with a ball top (sometimes called gumball). Let it be known that Sanwa sells a bat top (LB-30N) accessory that can be fitted to any Sanwa or Seimitsu joystick.

In terms of feel, Happ have a harder spring causing stronger tension leading to more resistance. Aside from the Perfect 360s, both US and Japanese parts are restricted to square movements. Japanese parts typically have easy switching to 4-way operation (Seimitsu often come with 2-way option in their gates as well). Sanwa sells extra restrictor gates for circular (JLW models only), octagon (JLF models only), and 2-way (both JLF and JLW models).

Q: Can you compare and contrast Happ push buttons with Sanwa and Seimitsu push buttons?
A: The biggest difference between the two is the “clicking” feel that is associated with Happ buttons. When depressed, the buttons will click indicating the button is activated. Japanese parts do not have this sounds/feel. Japanese buttons require much less force to activate the switch.

I find myself hoping that someone orders it and forgets about it for like forever.

I've been trying to pinpoint exactly when the tide turned, because IIRC, there was once real resistance towards JP parts but that ended a few years after arcades here collapsed. If I ask my buddies who grew up with arcades, they all prefer Happ.

The lack of inexpensive options for US sticks in past years along with playing younger people who didn't touch joysticks until the PS2 era has lessened my resistance to Sanwa but Seimitsu's the tenuous sweet spot for me.

So, I just bought the Fighting Stick EX 2 Arcade Xbox 360 Hori. I know it isn t the best stick, but I need a stick now for HD Remix. I have the SF IV TE Stick preordered but don t want to wait another 2 months to play HD Remix properly.

I fail horribly at consistently doing specials. I am playing as Sagat and my uppercut works about 50% when i try to input it in a real fighting situation. I am especially bad executing specials on player 2 side, my thumb just can t handle fast precise movements from right to left.

I really hope I can improve with such a low quality stick, but atm I hope that any stick is better then the controller analogstick.

I'm about to get that myself. I just want a stick, I don't care if it sucks. :lol

Crappiest stick>360 dpad. Can't wait for my TE stick.

On a DS3 I use the latter config. With the FightPad, I was gonna try the former :D

Good luck everyone

holy shit

Wtf, that's crazy. So what I heard from my Gamestop employee was that the sticks were technically not street-dated, so as soon as they got them, they could sell them. I'm guessing that's what this Steren place did?

I finally managed to pre-order the SFIV standard stick from EB Canada. I went with the PS3 version, but I'm wondering if it requires batteries. Since my TV is just right on my desk, I'm totally fine with having the stick wired. I'd actually switch for the 360 version if that one doesn't require batteries and the PS3 stick does.

Joy! (;-)) It's stated by MadCatz PR that the TE is going back into production. Wonder if MarkMan can give some confirmation, and whether the addition production allotment will only be enough to fill the already over-flowed pre-orders, or will it be enough to allow various retailers to open pre-orders again.
fuck yes

after reading the article is sounded like they were just going to make enough for all the pre orders. But I guess that means a lot of us wont get it at launch then

This is good news. Hopefully there isn't too much lagtime between game launch and this, though I planned on a buying a pad too anyway, so it's not a huge deal. Eagerly anticipating new info.

Well then. So what happens to the people who already preordered. Will ours be delayed too. I ordered off of amazon and they closed off their preorders eventually.

If it is not restricted by Capcom, is MadCatz really going to let go their first chance to sell more high quality premium sticks & make more money?

Make a locked amount, guarantee all being sold and guarantee profit.
Make an open amount by listening to people on message boards who insist that they will all run out and buy one but then when release comes stock is left on the shelf that sits and sits.
It is smart business to help madcatz build a new reputation, so that when they do release another stick people will pay attention.

Well at least its better than the hori sticks, so that should at least make it above average quality.

Preordered SFIV 360 regular edition and Madcatz Fightstick regular edition today yesterday.

Looks like the delay will mainly hit the UK , MM should be able to give input
