ok......so should i go with the madcatz over the hori? which is better?
If money is no object it'd be TE FightStick > HRAP3 > regular FightStick... but if it is, well, the HRAP3 is $60 less than the TE...

Some quick questions from a noob when it comes to Arcade Sticks:

Will the PS3 Mad Catz SFIV Fightpad and Fightstick work on the PC?

Will they work with the PS2 or PS2 games through BC?

Is there any better investment in terms of Arcade Stick for the PS3 (not much more than $90) that would also work on the PC? I think I could adapt to any button layout as it'll be my first Stick.

Thanks in advance!

I talked to the gamestop manager about my preorder and after some checking he said i was "in" and was confident the stick would be there for me the day they get it. I hope he's right. I paid the rest of it off to be sure. It'll be nice to get the stick a week before SF4, will give me time to get adjusted to stick usage again.

Yes. (Although instead of a Fightpad for player 2, you could get Saturn USB pad from eBay and save a few bucks. Mine is awesome in SF2HDR. Works with PC, Mac, and PS3)

Yes.

No.

Alright, my question of the moment: custom art.

I'd like to get some custom art on my HRAP3. How easy/difficult is this? Any tutorials out there for this specific stick? I found some templates on the web, but actual installation puzzles me.

More Mod Madness...

I swapped out these crummy buttons:

and now my second HRAP3 (Amazon edition) looks like this. I only swapped out the crappy Hori buttons for Seimitsu 30mm and added one of their clear ball tops:

Close up...

I only have left from my recent Lizard Lick order a set of Sanwa buttons, an octo gate and bat top that I'll probably throw on my HRAP EX whenever Arcadeshock finally decides to send it. I'm going to order a black bat top and possibly...possibly some buttons for my 360/PS3 TE joysticks.

So I went to gamestop today, they're still taking pre-orders on the regular fightstick, doesn't seem as limited as the TE, and also wierd thing, the minimum deposit is only $25 for the fightstick.

Need some help guys, do the Capcom X-Men/Marvel/Vs. fighting games use the same layout as SF?:

Jab - Strong - Fierce
Short - Forward - Roundhouse

That looks so good. Good job.

Yeah, what was up with that?

I dont think the fight sticks are going to be limited at all. Doubtful you will see them sitting on store shelves for long, but I wouldnt be surprised to see them on Amazon for the next year. Deposit on the TE was 50 and that is about a third of the price, so 25 for the fightstick is about right.

The regular FightStick's cost is about half what the TE's is; the regular FightStick's pre-order amount is half of what the TE's is; and it's not limited production (at least not a hard cap that we know of, at any rate), so what's unusual about it?

Its just that usually, no matter what (unless its a system) when you preorder something at Gamestop, you only have to put a 5 dollar minimum. Then again...this is probably the first time a non-system piece of hardware has been up for preorder at a Gamestop.

Pre-ordering a limited edition game is usually more expensive than the regular counterpart. The same goes with things like Rock Band, and Guitar Hero packages.

Not that it's unusual, but basically there has been no word on the availability on the regular fightstick. All the focus has gone towards TE stick, it's a wonderful stick but it seems like overshadowing the standard fightstick (im not even including fightpad because that's an entirely different brand of costumers). As awesome as the TE is, casuals/price conscious people are wondering about the FightStick in general, only thing we can do is speculate, TE preorders stopped Tuesday we all know that but there was no word on the other madcatz products.

Wait the HRAP3 on Amazon is the silver/white one? I thought it was the red/black one only there.

My bad you are correct i was looking at the Pad rating:lol, but gamepro is a fuckin joke anyways i can't believe a professional wrote the article.

and what the fuck does he mean when he says you won't be playing on your couch with the TE, the guys at 1up had no problems doing it.

Has anyone used one of these:

"The XCM D-Pad has been redesigned and optimized. The new XCM wireless controller shell uses a much larger d-pad with more room to allow the d-pad to move more when using it. This will make sure you do not accidentally hit another direction on the d-pad while trying to access something else."

http://www.renchi.com/renchi/Xbox_360_Accessories_Wireless_Controller_Shell_with_new_D_Pad_Black_XCM.htm

Not sure if it's worth the 29 bucks just to be able to play slightly better until the Mad Catz pads come out... On the other hand it'd be wireless!

Their a load of BS, bought one, and went straight back to my Offical 360 pad with modded d-pad shaving

I don't agree with the scores but it's encouraging that the FS is getting positive reviews. I'm glad I pre-ordered that and a fight pad for the PS3 which still came out to less than what a TE stick would've cost.

The reviewer is probably taking price into consideration.

hey guys, Canada will be getting the TE sticks, but its going to be way latter then the launch of SF4. Apparently the earliest we can pre order them is March. Heres the info

Update: 2009-01-17
I got sick and tired of listening to the same old crap from the EB stores. It didn't make sense to me that their information was inconsistent with what the MadCatz rep was reporting.

I called the EB Games head office and FINALLY found somebody (Andrea) who was able to help. The good news is that, YES EB GAMES will carry the TE Sticks! The bad news is that they will not have them for the launch of SF4.

In fact, I was told that the very earliest that the TE Sticks will be made available for pre-order will be March 2009. Please understand that this does not mean on March 1st, pre-ordering will commence. This is to say that pre-ordering will not happen before this date.

I was told the reason Canada was being delayed was due to the unexpected demand. EB Games / Gamestop have a common supplier which made the decision to fill and process all of the US preorders first before accepting any Canadian preorders.

Here are the EB Games' SKU's for the TE Sticks. Take them back to the EB stores that told you "Oh we don't have this stick in our system. The SKU isn't listed" and laugh in their face. (Note: Gamestop and EB Games use different SKU's for their products)

$149.99 PS3 TE Stick = 6162317
$149.99 X360 TE Stick = 6162291

The PS3 TE Stick is listed as "Discontinued" or "Inactive". Preorders can not be processed for items under this status.

The X360 TE Stick is listed as "Available". This means that the stick CAN be preordered. I found this to be strange as to why one stick was available and the other wasn't. Andrea dug around found out that this was a system error . Both sticks should be listed as "Discontinued" and it will be corrected ASAP.

If you are reading this post and manage to get to an EB with the X360 SKU before the status is changed, I'm not sure it will make a difference as their supplier doesn't have any units to ship out either way.

In short, for the time being all we can do is patiently wait. Canada will get the TE Sticks, just not in time for the SF4 launch. I suggest calling your local EB games with the SKU every few days and just ask them to check the status of the stick. And of course as soon as you find out, POST IN THIS THREAD AND LET EVERYONE ELSE KNOW!

Thanks!

Hori released a special edition of the HRAP3 through Amazon.ja which had the white base, yadda, yadda. It's the same as the black and orange version, just different colors. The HRAP3SA, which is like close to $200 has a different color scheme but Sanwa buttons. Here are a few links to sdtekken...the first stop for expert opinions on joystick...they say the webmaster...or master blogger has dozens of sticks:

And Dementia thanks for catching my mistake in CVS2. I haven't played it in awhile and thought they kept the same arrangement as CVS.

Lettuce, that is a nice cabinet. I like the color and the ball tops and buttons.

Yup. Put my $25 down yesterday. Should be in stores 2/11.

quick question from a newbie...

Am I better off getting the Hori EX 2 for 360 or the Mad Catz SFIV Fightstick for 360?

Don't have the money for the TE, but am wondering which is better between the above two.

Thanks!

Fightstick. Gamepro gave it a decent review. And those who have used it say it's pretty competent. The other thing is it can be modified. If you want to move up in quality, you can swap out the buttons and stick.

I have been using an EX2 for 360. It's ugh. First, the weight. The thing easily shifts on the floor (I admit I have carpeting...which might be a cause...but my HRAP3 doesn't). Second, it uses cheap parts, which are all soldered in, so unless you're an electrician and want to use the case to "upgrade" it...it's not a real good investment.

I opened it up yesterday...and the only mod you're able to do without soldering is replace the ball top.

The floor? Are you playing it with your feet or something?

Why yes... I call it my Ansetsu Foot Whirken...

But no...as I said...I play on a carpeted floor. And the EX2 is pretty light and most of the weight is on the stick, so as I move the stick...so does the base.

That's one of the reasons they mentioned the weight of the TE during the 1up gamer night...
