Hi guys! I received my SFIV HRAP3:

More pics here : http://capcom-town.es/2009/02/15/%c2%a1me-ha-llegado-el-hori-street-fighter-iv-stick/

Works perfectly with PS2 games in a PS3 with BC, and both Windows and MAME recognizes it as a HRAP3 without drivers. :)

after the clusterfuck pre-order with my local Gamestop, I went and checked Frys.
if anybody is in Campbell, CA the Fry's Electronics has 3 SFIV Fightsticks in stock.
2 Xbox 360's and 1 PS3.

The Xbox 360 version is on sale for $69.99, regular price $79.99.

So I plan on modding this with better buttons and gate. What is the consensus here on specific buttons/gates? This would be my first time actually modding.

In need of some advice, or at least a good sanity-check. =)

I've got one of the Mad Catz SE sticks, and would like to upgrade it with some better parts. How does this sound?
============================
Stick:
Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y - (will need to rotate PCB 90deg, seems simple?)
Sanwa GT-Y - Octagonal Restrictor for JLF-TP-8Y (to try out, but have a feeling I'll stick with a square gate)
Sanwa LB-30N - Battop Handle

Buttons:
Sanwa OBSF-30 - (what about the 30RGs?)
============================

Are there better options? I just want to find the best stick/buttons, but am coming at this completely cold.

Where do you recommend ordering from? What about akihabarashop.jp? LizardLick? I'd really like to get these parts (to Southern California, USA) before Friday. =D

Hey! Sweet, I'm not alone in this. =)

stupid Canadian prices, why the hell is the fightpad 60$, thats 50% more then America, the fightstick is 100$ up here also (for both systems). So now I'm leaning more towards a 360 fightstick (getting TE for ps3), so should I get that or the fightpad guys?

I put in my order for a standard fightstick Friday afternoon when I heard MadCatz was taking orders via their online store. I put overnight shipping on that sumbitch so I'm hoping I've got it by Wednesday... I'm also hoping that if there was some sort of cut-off, I made it; the "add to cart" buttons disappeared from both fightsticks sometime Friday night/Saturday morning.

Good luck man. The good thing about the crazy demand for these sticks is that maybe...just maybe...other companies will start creating quality arcade sticks in NA and EU. More competition always = better products :D

Just ordered matching blue Sanwa JLF and 6 Sanwa buttons from Lizard Lick for my SE. Can't wait for them to come in. Does anyone have a good guide on how exactly to turn the PCB on the JLF-TP-8T, I know you have to do that to put in the SE.

The JLF-TP-8T seems good to order,I put a order in for 1.

To make the TP-8Y from our stock stick, remove the mounting plate and rotate the pcb. To rotate the pcb, you simply remove the bottom restrictor plate by gently pushing in on the 4 black "tabs" that hold it in, pull the pcb out, rotate it, and put it all back together.
Quoting again. Look in the previous pages, info for modding the SE is everywhere. :P

lol you don't know how many times I typed up a 'fuck you too' reply when people started attacking me with insults... lol.

sucky situation and the factories qc is definitely in question... NO EXCUSE!

this is STREET FIYTA FO

SRS BIZNS. I'm not happy with the fightpad, but getting personal about it is just immature. I just took it back. ;) It's a depressing reminder of how bad an idea it is to mix work and play.

for PS3, am I better off getting the SFIV FightStick or the Hori Fighting Stick 3? Which one is better?

Thanks!

I assume you mean the HRAP3, right?

If you don't plan to mod the SE fightstick (I assume this is the one you're considering) I would recommend going for the HRAP3.

FightStick. Its got a better design than the fighting stick 3, with a slant at the front of it so your arms can rest against it. The buttons are also better designed and more responsive.

Anyone that ordered the LE from Lizard Lick may be in for a wait, I emailed them regarding my address details on the weekend and here is part of the response:

It does not appear that we will be shipping these any time soon I'm afraid...

edit: I just got another email from Lizard Lick that says it appears they won't be getting their first shipment until the end of March.

Why is this? they were taking pre-orders before most other stores, is this MadCatz's fault?

Does anyone know any good PS2 sticks on about the same level as the Fight Stick SE as far as price and modability goes? The only ones that I can find that seem reputable are the Real Arcade Pro series, which seem to start at about $150 for the PS2 ones.

Also, as an aside, would the stock Hori buttons be a problem for someone's who's only experience is with the newer concave Happ buttons?

Regarding SE stick modding, if you want a bat top you'll need to get one of those little screw-on adapters

If you want to replace the buttons you'll need snap-in 30mm with quick disconnects

The gate APPEARS to be identical to a Sanwa JLF gate but someone on SRK said their actual Sanwa gate wouldn't fit on the SE FightStick because the holes were just barely off. They also said they didn't apply pressure or really try to make it fit so that's just a kind of preliminary conclusion and you're welcome to get a real Sanwa JLF gate of your own and experiment for us

I have a JLF in mine and I just took two of the screw on the mounting plate connected to the base to screw into the JLF since they were the right size.

Check the edges of the mounting plate around the JLF where the screws should be. The two that are missing are the ones I used.

You can also use Seimitsu screw-in buttons as well.

I just asked a clerk at EB yesterday, he said the fightpad is $49.99.

did it come with hot glue on the disconnects and restrictor? looks kind of random since there appears to be none on the wiring to the joystick.

Yep, gooped up in only a few places. Don't know why. All the wires are collected and glued to the base of the stick with little tabs as well.

Noob alert!! I just got my SE stick and I'm still waiting for my TE stick. My ball stick actually turns when I play, like it isn't screwed down all the way. Is this how it's supposed to be? I didn't think it was, but I figured I should check.

Yes.

Like the actual ball top itself? Yeah. I thought my fighting stick 3 was busted when it was like that, but thats just the way it is.

Just grip it abit, shouldnt actually turn while you're playing (at least to my experience).

Yeah I don't mind that it turns a bit, I just wanted to make sure it was supposed to.

I played a few rounds of HDR, and it worked great overall. I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy the base is.

Does anyone know where I can get a high res version of the image these guys used in their sticks?
I tried asking at srk, but got a "read the thread" type of answer so I did re-read the thread i was looking at and there was no help and it looks like they're having server issues at the moment. I'd PM someone over there but i'm too new to do that.

Yeah, I saw some impressions that compared the stick to the old Agetec "Green Goblin" Dreamcast sticks in terms of overall quality/feel (for the non-defective SE sticks, anyway). That's high praise, and makes me want to get ahold of one.

Wow that sucks :(

Are the four screws in the rubber bumpers on the bottom of the TE sticks supposed to just spin in place?

I've already striped the first of the little screws I've touched. Damn thing just disintegrated as I tried to unscrew it. So I think done with messing with the bottom of this stick.......

Why are you going in from the bottom? You open the TE from the top!

I have to pick up a star or an allen wrench. None of the one's I own fit.

I wasn't joking. To get to anything substantial you need to go in from the top, there is a plastic plate covering all the good stuff. You're gonna need the special screwdriver bit anyways.

Sorry to hear that your stick is fubar. How long did it take to notice that?
Thanks...I've sort of gotten over it now that I've ordered the new stick. After I do the swap this should be the best arcade stick I've ever owned. Just sucks I paid $80 for something that wouldn't work out of the box. Sure I bought the SE stick so I could mod it down the road, but the time has come sooner rather than later ha.

To answer your question it took me maybe 10 minutes to realize it was messed up. I was playing the HD Remix demo and my Ryu got stuck walking backwards when the stick was supposed to be in a neutral position. You will feel the stick "stick" to a position, and you'll have to manually pop it back to the neutral position. It's very noticeable when it happens.

When swapping out the stick, you swap out the PCB for the one that you get from Lizardlick right? If my PCB got messed up by the washer issue then it would matter because the one I ordered comes with a new one? Or do you use the same one that comes with the stick.

You use every part that comes with the new stick expect for the wire.I'm not sure if the new stick would fit on the stock mounting plate.I'm taking it all off and throwing all the JLF parts on.

Removed the octo gates and bat tops on my HRAPs. I'm starting to get used to the square gate and ball top. I still have a few issues doing dragon punches when on the 2nd player side (big issue is when playing Fei Long), but I'm starting to really love playing with a stick. The buttons are a huge improvement over a pad's.

I'm going to order the parts to mod my 360 fightstick SE.

Not sure why I bought the fightpads...

Haven't heard anything about my TE sticks from Amazon or Videogamecentral. I tried to cancel the order with VGC, but they were going to charge me a 5 percent processing fee. I'd rather just sell the sticks.

I e-mailed Amazon twice and both times the reps said they are allowed to sell them after the 20th. I have no idea why, but I'm thinking they don't have their shipments yet.

I love how arcade sticks are being more and more accepted into gamers homes.

I hope this thread helped out a lot of people because this thread is filled with awesome gentz (and ladies if you're ever out there lol).

Girls don't like sticks.

It's still kind of confusing on how to make a faceplate for the stick, I mean can someone like find me a simple guide on how to make it, and how to print it, and cut the things?
