NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread

My apologies to the Shoryukeners who have to see the same post twice, but I wanted to show off my stick on GAF as well. I just finished up my first ever custom arcade stick project and wanted to share a quick pic or two of the results. It's got lots of little cosmetic issues if you look close, but overall I'm really pleased with how it turned out. This puppy is solid as a rock and I think that the overall visual design came together pretty well. I'm a total stick / fighting game n00b, but I like the occasional DIY project and I had lot of fun doing this one, although I will admit that it took a bit longer then I expected (wiring 360 triggers to digital buttons is a pain!). It's got a Seimitsu LS-32, 8 30mm Seimitsu transparent buttons and 3 24mm white Seimitsu buttons to cover the entire Xbox control pad. If anyone is interested I wrote up a little more about the process of building it in a blog post here. After playing with it a little bit I now get the appeal of a nice arcade stick, some type of games are just way more fun with one of these puppies and I'm going to be raiding XBLA for some more arcade type games to play on it (plus Street Fighter IV is on the way from Amazon).

Before I flood Markman on here and SRK :P what does everyone think the best way to ge a TE stick if I haven't preordered anywhere? My local GStop will never get a stick even if I preorder now. I'm hoping amazon gets more so I can waive the tax and shipping :)

I'm currently converting an Anniversery SF stick to work wirelessly on the 360. I only soldered the guide button so far and it works! Also, I'm using a plug and charge kit battery with the usb already connected to the board to charge when I'm not playing. This will be my brother's or secondary stick for whoever comes over

going to hoboken straight from work (world trade center path station for the win).

will be drinking/smoking heavily and playing street fighter with my friends :D

i use a ben sherman weekender bag to carry a change of clothes + fits a TE stick perfectly

funny..I just ordered a sniper rifle carrying case to carry both of my TE Sticks and my game with extention cables.:lol

I'm going to need to get a big duffel bag to carry my 360, HRAP EX, and SE stick. My friends have places that are better suited for all night Street Fighter fests of funtivity.

BTW a few years ago, Hori made an HRAP carry case bag that held 2 HRAP sized sticks.

Really nice bag/material. Could definitely hold two bigger sticks no problem. I need to take mine out and check if it will fit the TE (I'm pretty sure it will since the HRAPs fit in loosely/easily).

Anyone else ever see these?

no...sounds like they should work for the TE sticks though...The case I 'm looking at is nice...I just need to carve out my squares in the foam.

Amazon does that sometimes--failing to give priority to earlier pre-orders, if that's what's going on here. They're getting much better with their video-game section, but they're still not quite there yet.

I've noticed this too. Also, depending on what shipping option chosen (seemingly) effects your status.

One of my TE sticks shipped last week via USPS from Delaware and still won't arrive for a few more days and the other has yet to process. Other sticks have shipped quickly via Fedex. I always pick free shipping so it is a crap shoot.

I got another reply from amazon. They discounted my one day shipping, apologized more and said "we expect to ship your item in the next few business days".

This sounds like they are holding steady with the February 25th date. That has not changed, it seems.

Linkhero1,

Hang it there!

I am loving SF4 for 360 and have an option to get a TE stick.
Are they worth it and will it last?

they are worth it... and they are built with easily swappable arcade parts so even if they don't last, they are easy as hell to replace. the only thing that isn't straight from an arcade machine is the PCB (chip board) and people actually go out of their way to source a mad catz PCB for their custom made sticks.

going forward, you should be able to pop in PCB's from future systems and you will be able to use your TE for years to come.

and: sf4 experience with a stick >>>> sf4 experience with a stock 360 pad

My Sanwa JLF is squeaking like a motherfucker when I move it left. Any ideas on how to fix it? I am by no means a handyman, so I apologize if this is some super easy fix.

Got my parts from Lizard Licks today.Shipped on Saturday, super fast shipping :D

:lol You're doing the same thing I am, except mine's gonna be orange. Plugs are gonna be for the inside 2 buttons. Also, I'm gonna re-arrange wiring so that RB & LB are left out since 3rd Strike on 360 doesn't read those.

Edit: Well, technically, I'm getting the Sanwa screw-in OBSF's. Less work that way.

Yeah, I had the same question. Placed my order today from Lizard Licks.

Will they send a tracking number or confirmation email when the order ships?

Me three.

I just got an email saying basically "we took your money."

Nothing more =/

I ordered the same day as Matix -- but I chose regular shipping.

I even sent an email a few days ago and no response. Really terrible experience with lizardlick, such a shame since it was my first and likely my last.

Anyone know any other place to order parts?

PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO HIGH ORDER VOLUME, PARTS ORDERS MAY BE DELAYED UP TO 2 WEEKS BEFORE THEY SHIP. THIS SHOULD BE A TEMPORARY SITUATION, WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS AND YOUR PATIENCE WHILE WE ADJUST TO LIVING IN A WORLD WITH STREET FIGHTER IV!!

;o

I ordered some parts on the 16th. paid it already through paypal. picked regular shipment. aw.

Joining the delayed parts party - I ordered my JLF stick on the 17th. No shipment e-mail. The delay is understandable with all the defective SE's and stuff. Glad I just went ahead and fixed my washer problem in the meantime.

On Lizardlick: these guys are good. Like they said, SFIV-mania has taken them aback a bit but they are reliable and have been for a long time now. Just be patient. The irony is that ordering from Akihabara shop won't get you your parts any sooner I don't think.

I think Lizard Lick is awesome. Normally parts would come two days after ordering them, but yeah SFIV means a lot work.

So awesome that they began stocking the replacement JLF for the SE stick that requires no pcb rotation and you can just drop right in. Dopeness.
So awesome that they let my brother cancel and reorder parts. They also moved him to the top of shipping list. He was the 700th person in line. :D

Yes, they are that awesome.

Yea I got a usps tracking number when he shipped it via paypal.

Here is the pcb turned/rotated for those that bought the JLF-TP-8T,it was so easy, the gate popped right off,no need to use a flat head to get it off.

My finished mod,I know it's nothing super fancy, but I like it for my first time :D Hardest part for me was taking the buttons out :lol I say this took me a total of 30 mins tops.

I already noticed how much better the Sanwa stick feels :D This was totally worth the money and time.

Good to hear. Glad I made the investment. I think I got the exact same shit as you, just in blue.

I hope it gets here soon.

(cross-post with AusGAF)

So, I finally played SF4 last night (ty EB rent!) with the new joystick, and HOLY FUCK. That stick is the shit, no doubt. Have had to get used to its throw, range etc. (and I still kinda do) but majority of the time I'm pulling of QC's and shoryuken movements without too much hassle.

And the buttons... oh, those buttons. Magical. Feels just SFA2 in my local fish and chip shop a few years back.

Screw-ins? Don't you mean OBSN instead of OBSF?

why do you guys plug up two buttons? putting the three punches and three kicks to the 7th and 8th buttons is awesome.
They aren't necessary. Especially when you've got Sanwa buttons that activate so easily.

I payed for USPS Priority mail cause that's the cheapest option. It's the same option you chose I guess.I emailed Chad a question on Saturday after he shipped and I got an email back from him like 5 hours later...not sure why he hasn't responded to your emails.

The only reason why yours hasn't shipped is if one of your items was back ordered.I posted a page or two ago about how he's handling those orders.By the time he got up to you order he might have been out of stock of a specific color or something. He's got new stock coming in this week..he's just been overwhelmed with a shit ton of orders since last Friday the 13th.

This is my first time dealing with Lizard Licks and even though I had to wait a week for my items to ship...Chad is nothing but class and I would order from them again.

Also my items were packed with great care so they wouldn't get damaged.

Maybe you should join the SRK forums, you might be able to contact him there.

How many people will go through the trouble of upgrading their sticks and solely play online? I'd imagine that number is small

How about those folks who upgrade their sticks and play neither online nor in tournaments! Heck, I don't even play the games local mulit-player...and all my sticks are upgraded.

So did anyone else get a TE that looked like it had been opened? The circular tape on my stick looked to be cleanly cut on both ends. Damn Amazon warehouse workers playing with my TE!
