The stick is not soldered right? If it's exactly like the HRAP3, you can use the same mounting plate for the LS-56. It was a simple swap job when I did the same mod for my Amazon HRAP3.

The stick is soldered in HRAP EXes. Also, the JLF mounting plate doesn't fit, the screw holes are in different places on the plate.

i just bought this stick for the ps3, is it any good? (i hope so...)

it's a HORI FS3

Damn, Akihabarashop mixed up my order and sent me an octagonal gate, a mounting plate and a battop without the adapter, and I had ordered buttons. YES. -_- I hope they sort it out soon.

Oh shit, when did they ship it? I hope my order that's processing now won't get mixed up. Good luck getting it sorted out, in best case scenario you'll get to keep the parts! I'd want an extra octagonal gate so i can test around which I'd like more :D

Total Arcade Stick novice here, but I have a Hori EX2 for 360 and use it for fighting games, and I'm finding it a bit crappy for the most part (button responsiveness and the sticks range of motion).

What can I do about this that would be impossible to fuck up on?

I don't know anything about the components, or electronics.

They shipped it last week. To their credit, they responded to the mail in less than 30 minutes, so great service and the mixup is somewhat understandable with the shitton of orders they must be having, just like lizardlick. Thing is, I can't install this gate on my joystick, but I've always preferred square ones.Time to wait another week to mod my SE.

I'm a sort of a beginner myself, and I have some issues with QCF's on my SE stick right now. I've never played with an octagonal gate but I heard it makes the rotations easier. Then again, hitting corners might be tougher.

Speaking of which, the only way to put custom art on one is screwing it on?

Either that or a really big custom sticker, I believe. A sticker would probably look nicer if you manage to cut and place it properly.

Lizard lick update for those you haven't gotten parts/emails/etc....

"Ok guys, just a quick update to let everyone know where we're at... We are currently digging through the stack of orders from the 15th... Yes, the 15th, I know, it's ridiculous, but thats how many orders we had last weekend. So if you ordered prior to that, and you haven't gotten an email from PayPal with your tracking, we probably are missing something from your order... There are a number of items that are actually out of stock, regardless of what the website says, and we're probably not going to update the site, since by the time we get to the newer orders, those parts will be here... Just off the top of my head, items that are causing back-orders include Sanwa 30mm buttons in white, both kinds, OBSF-30 blue, green bubbletops, Seimitsu PS-14-KN's in blue and white, and a few Seimitsu joysticks... All of these items should be here later in the week, I'm planning on blowing out most of the back-orders by next weekend, while we continue to work on the new orders. Lazeeya, thanks for the gigunda order, you are missing several items, but like I said, we have more stuff on the way, even more stock than we got last week, which was a record for us... If you can all just bear with us for a little bit longer, we should be able to dig our way out of this hole by the end of next weekend... If you would like specific information regarding your order, you can email us, but PLEASE use the same email associated with your purchase (so we can look it up quicker), or if you want to call, you can do that, but try to use the phone where you want us to call you back at, so if you get dumped into my voicemail, I can just hit '8' and call you right back. I know that you all want your parts as quickly as possible, rest assured we are trying to put your orders together and get them out the door as fast as we can. If you just can't wait, send me an email and I can cancel out your order for you, I completely understand your frustration, so there's no need to be nasty about it....

Cthulhu kits are back up on the site, and no, we will be getting our OBSF-30 black from Sanwa, probably in the spring...

Thanks guys,

Chad"

Supposedly the stick is a bitch to mod. You are going to have to do some soldering and also cut some plastic to get a different stick in there. I have the same one and I feel your pain, have been thinking about modding it but its a scary prospect.

Big if right there. Never been afraid of opening, dissasemblying and modifying electronics, but placing a huge sticker without bubbles, misalignments or cat hair getting in the middle is such a daunting task.

More than a bitch. You'd probably be better off getting a new one and leaving that one for the visits. That's how it goes here. The EX2 is the third choice for people coming over.

Yeah, that what my EX is gonna end up as. The only alternative right now is the HRAP 3 EX, which has a Sanwa stick right???

My apologies to the Shoryukeners who have to see the same post twice, but I wanted to show off my stick on GAF as well. I just finished up my first ever custom arcade stick project and wanted to share a quick pic or two of the results. It's got lots of little cosmetic issues if you look close, but overall I'm really pleased with how it turned out. This puppy is solid as a rock and I think that the overall visual design came together pretty well. I'm a total stick / fighting game n00b, but I like the occasional DIY project and I had lot of fun doing this one, although I will admit that it took a bit longer then I expected (wiring 360 triggers to digital buttons is a pain!). It's got a Seimitsu LS-32, 8 30mm Seimitsu transparent buttons and 3 24mm white Seimitsu buttons to cover the entire Xbox control pad. If anyone is interested I wrote up a little more about the process of building it in a blog post here. After playing with it a little bit I now get the appeal of a nice arcade stick, some type of games are just way more fun with one of these puppies and I'm going to be raiding XBLA for some more arcade type games to play on it (plus Street Fighter IV is on the way from Amazon).

Here's a new video from the guy who lost it last time when his stock stick broke. This video he's putting in a Sanwa JLF-TP-8T *the one which needs to be rotated* and Sanwa OBSF-30's buttons.

Thanks for posting this, really informative. I already changed a broken SE stick to a less broken SE stock stick, but now I know how to put the buttons in as well!

One note though, it doesnt matter how he pushes the buttons down real hard from the top side of the controller when installing em? That won't break the box or the button?

I had to do that also and nothing broke. You need them all the way down and you need to hear them literally snap in.

Did you push from the border of the button or the actual switch?

From the top of the button I just pushed down on the whole thing,I guess the actual switch. My fingers were not strong enough to get it all the way down by pushing on just the borders :lol

Free 20 bucks I guess. =\

I got the same email. Oh well, i'm down with people ordering after me and still getting their shit. Woohoo! Two weeks ain't too bad neither is a free 20 dollar coupon.:D

Just got that email as well. Fuck Madcatz for this. They obviously gave priority to GameStop, but not everyone is willing to bend over and take it from them. They'd better be busy making this next fucking "batch".

The ton of unfulfilled pre-orders at the GameStop B&Ms says otherwise.

I got that email too. I woke up early this morning and got it, but at least they gave me 20 bucks out of all this fiasco.

Anyhow, a friend of mine from SRK is willing to sell me a modded SE fightstick so I might do that instead now.

I haven't gotten an e-mail from Amazon at all. I have a SE Stick pre-ordered and it lists the shipping estimate as 02/18 - 02/25.

I did receive a similar e-mail from Best Buy that also granted me a credit of $20 (but the credit expires some time in April). They're listing my TE Stick as releasing on 03/08. What really frustrates me about them is that they're authorizing the total charge of $166.36 on my card every couple of weeks.

Every other week I see it show up as a pending transaction only to see it go away. They're weeks away from actually sending me the TE Stick. They shouldn't be authorizing the charge all the damn time now (its happened 4 times). It is frustrating as Hell.

That doesn't change the priority they gave to GS's online orders. There are people who ordered in February who got their sticks from GS and BN. I pre-ordered the first week of January. Along w/ that heads up telling ppl to pre-order asap, it would've been helpful to know where to pre-order.

It sucks that I can't use my SE stick (or even my fightpad) for Samurai Shodown Anthology and KOF 98 UM. One is coming out as soon as next week!

Got two emails from Amazon, one for the fightpad and SE stick and one for the TE stick, giving me $25 in gift certificates total... I guess SF4 will collect dust until then.

From the very, very start, Amazon listed their dates later than Gamestop/BN did. You just missed the...the tons and tons of posts discussing pre-orders and where to go. Mad Catz screwed this up all the way around. At least people are getting free money from Amazon while GameStop sits on people's pre-order money. Sheesh.

It's actually quite easy, even if you're a novice. All you need are a little bit of soldering skills. I just modded my Hori EX2 Soul Calibur Edition with Sanwa buttons, cherry microswitches and new artwork. I'm waiting for a new balltop and sanwa restrictor plate from Lizard Lick. Mind you, I've built my own arcade machine as well, but, it's a simple mod really. This website is great for a novice:

http://pineconeattack.com/2008/12/0...with-authentic-arcade-parts-xbox-360-version/

I'll post pics later of my stick if you like. Hope that helps. BTW, the stick feels perfect for me, even without the restrictor plate and with the stock square plate in there as well.

So Amazon didn't bother telling me TE stick is on back order when I ordered it on Dec. 28th and it's supposed to ship out tomorrow.

FUCK!

But because they didn't tell me they gave me a $20 gift certificate...fucking assholes.
Now I have no TE stick and the bloody fightpads haven't been released in Canada yet.

My beef is not so much that you had to pre-order early to get the stick, but that there are many people who did just that and are still waiting, while I've yet to hear of an online GS pre-order that hasn't been fulfilled. Seems to me like GS has MadCatz by the balls on this one.

Amazon giving out $20 gift certificates is awesome... no complaints there. What's killing me is the wait... I'm stuck with this 360 pad and there's no way in hell I'm touching ranked matches with it, so I feel like I'm just goofing around while ppl are mastering SFIV the way it should be played.

For those of you who cancelled their FS SE orders, are you regretting it yet? SE's are as hard to come by as TE's now. Even though I was able to snag one at my local Fry's I wish I had kept my Amazon order open. I'm hoping these will get re-stocked somewhere down the line with the fixed washer.

Well, they need to squeeze harder so B&M preorders get their stuff. BTW, those Gamestop branded controllers you see in their stores are made by MadCatz. Of course GS has them by the balls. They have everyone by the balls. Should be squeezing harder.

man just checked my amazon order for my TE stick and the new "estimated" delivery date is March 27th...............what the duece, a whole month!!!!!!!!!!

My old 360 RRoD'd, and I bought a new one. I'm using a Soul Calibur Hori stick, and when I plug it in, it doesn't synch with my console. The 4 green lights just flash on the stick.

I went to Hori's site, but they have no support. Am I doing something wrong? What do I need to do to get this thing to work.

It seems I am star-crossed with playing SFIV.

Make sure the breakaway cable is securely fastened.

I like my Fightstick SE so much (and will like it more when I complete my mod), I want to get another stick for 360.

Problem is, it seems everywhere on Earth is without sticks for 360 - and DEFINITELY without the SFIV family of sticks. What are other good and available sticks for 360? Are they as easily modifiable as the Fightstick SE? Do any of them NOT cost a billion dollars?

You will be totally fine. I've used the similar EX2 for two years for things like Hyper Fighting and Ikaruga. What's more, keep it in decent condition and it should hold some good value if you wanna resell. And, it is a good stick to acclimate to a square gate.

It's not all that great and difficult to mod but the other day I used a Hori FSEX2 (the 360 version of PS3 Hori FS3) and It wasn't terrible. I may spoiled by Sanwa goodness, but the low-end Hori is still a serviceable controller.

toneroni said:
So which one do you like more? the TE or HRAP?
too early to tell.

I appreciate the amenities of the TE stick, sure. the area for the cord, n' such. but when it comes down to arcade sticks, I'm a simple man with simple needs. I just need the stick to feel good and the buttons to work when I press them. I've always felt like turbo buttons were something of a cheat, so I never use them.

so as of right now, I'd say I like my modded HRAP 3 a bit more.

My HRAP 3's stick is a JLF stick with the ultimate mod done to it (see youtube...basically, a second spring for tightness, some paper for added sensitivity to the direction presses, and some other stuff) octogonal gate, and semietsu buttons. the buttons aren't as sensitive by design, but they work for me. The stick is also modded for 360 & PS3 compatibility. the added sensitivity to the JLF means shorter throws and less deadzone for everything, which I've come to appreciate.

that being said, it's nothing that can't be done to the TE's joystick as well, since it too is a JLF. it's really just an octogonal gate and a spring away. and of course, a PCB with more compatibility can be added.

stock vs. stock, the TE stick is the winner going away. the TE only needs about $5 worth of mods to get the JLF up to par with my modded HRAP...but if you're willing to put an extra $25 into a HRAP and are indifferent to turbos, you can get the TE feel for less with a HRAP. much less, juding by eBay prices.

Is there any way that I could use my PS3 SF4 FightStick on my 360 through any adapters, or would I have to buy a new stick entirely?
you can (or you can have someone) put a 360 PCB inside your stick for dual compatibility. that's what I did to my HRAP 3.

just flip the switch...

...and it goes from 360 mode to PS3 mode. all buttons (including home functioning as guide) work. only thing it doesn't do is the headset, but I have a wireless one, so it doesn't matter.
