Bah.... I couldn't get the darn c-clip off, ah well. turns out everything was fine hah! Took it apart for nothing... feels a little weird though... oh well :lol

so i opened up my T5 hori to see if i can do something about it being hard as hell to do QCFx2 motions, so i removed the bottom square plastic thingy, this helped for awhile, now the right side isnt registering correctly.:( any sudgestions on what to do about that? im likely going to do the sanwa mod in the future, but i need something to get me through until then.

Eh? You removed the gate? That's bad, you can damage the microswitches (among other things) this way. The square can be frustrating for most people (including myself, I use octagonal), but it's definitely better than no restrictor. Perhaps someone more educated on the matter could chime in?

So, I've got a SFIV TE stick on the way and was wondering just how hard it's going to be for a total newbie (me) to swap out for some different art? I've already got templates downloaded, so I'm covered on that end.

I'm torn between the Madcatz TE or the HRAP3. How does the layout compare between these two? Are the buttons closer to the sick on the HRAP3?

I think their buttons are the same, they both use the real japanese arcade layout. The 5th and 6th buttons are different but that doesn't really matter.

The HRAP doesnt have all authentic Sanwa buttons but those can be replaced easily.

If you don't want to install new buttons, get a TE.

If you don't mind doing that, go for whichever one's cheaper/looks better. They're both excellent sticks and both have enough weight to them. You really can't go wrong either way.

I have both, and I find myself using the HRAP more. I prefer the height of the base, but I did switch out the stock buttons for sanwa. both are good though, can't really go wrong either way.

I have a question. This may not be worth the effort, but I have a custom finkle stick I had made a bit ago. It's set up with PS2 PCB; what kind of steps would I have to take to get this set up with a 360/PS3 PCB. Is there someone I can ship it to, or is it even doable myself? Or is it just better to say go buy myself a TE and get that modded for 360/PS3.

If you have a PS2 BC-capable PS3 and want to use the stick on PS2 games, the HRAP3 is really your only choice short of using non-PS3 sticks and adapters. If you don't, then it's really just a matter of preference in terms of looks, size(the HRAP3 is deceptively large, due to the base just being so damned tall, whereas the TE is larger but flatter), price, etc. I do really like the TE's cable storage compartment though.

Do you guys think there would be an announcement of the mythical MVC2 stick at Comic Con? I really want a stick for the 360, and I'm trying to decide if I should wait around for that announcement.

Has anyone ordered/received a shipment from Lizard Lick in the past couple of weeks? Their site is still showing them a few weeks behind on shipping out product, but I was just curious how that was going for everyone else. None of the parts I ordered were on their list of items that were mostly responsible for their backlog.

:*( amazon charges tax in NY

Wrong. NY makes Amazon.com charge sales tax--it's state-specific legislation that passed in 2008, and it requires all Internet-based commerce to apply NY State Sales Tax to all their transactions. In other words: one more reason it sucks to live in NY State, as if the property taxes weren't enough reason to get the f*ck outta that state.

When did you order? They're finally starting to move along at a good pace, but they ran out of JLFs. I ordered on 6/11 and am still waiting on my shipment confirmation. I believe people from 6/12 have received shipping confirmations if they didn't order anything that got back ordered.

I ordered last week, still waiting. :(

Newegg stopped charging sales tax awhile ago, so there's some way around it I guess. I wish Amazon would follow their lead.

I ordered on Monday, so obviously I'm not expecting my shipment for a while. Just curious to see how everyone else's orders were going.

Same here, June 20.

Edit: I almost forgot, for those who were looking for progress updates on the Egret II I picked up, I made a new blog post about it, detailing the hardware and software going into it. Now I just have to wait on LizardLick to give me my parts so I can order the rest of it :lol

Sounds like you are approaching the MAME part correctly...in small doses, and for what is only absolutely necessary. I might attempt something like that down the line but I've only been a Mac user since the early eighties. The thought of using a PC terrifies me (I've never ever owned a PC or even worked on one before).

exactly... i <3 amazon too :( thats why it hurts so much lol

I think buy.com and amazon are the big ones that are doing it

The way the tax law works: If you have a physical presence in the state, you are supposed to pay sales tax on everything you sell online.

Amazon's Excuse: We only have several large distribution centers placed strategically in the US so that we do not have a physical presence in NY, CA, or any other high profile states. Without a physical presence, we don't have to pay sales tax.

The way NY enforced it: If you have a marketplace connection or partner in our state, you have to pay sales tax on all purchases. Amazon sells for many stores, including target, in addition to many many affiliates. Therefore, they have a "physical presence" in NY state and must pay sales tax.

NewEgg does not have a physical presence or affiliates in NY state, so they dont charge NY sales tax.

Bummer for NY people, especially because tax there is high to begin with.

Between Hori's Real Arcade Pro 3 and Madcatz' SF4 Tournament Arcade Stick, are they about as good as each other without modding?

The joysticks themselves are identical sanwa sticks (except for the color of the ball). The Hori buttons on the HRAP3 are inferior to the Sanwa buttons on the FSTE. They are hooked up with "quick disconnects" which allow you to open the stick up and replace the buttons with something of higher quality by just snapping them out, with no soldering involved. However, that would count as modding. So no.

No, the TE has arcade-spec Sanwa buttons while the HRAP has lower quality Hori clones.
The HRAP buttons are easy enough to replace, but unmodded, the TE is better.

"Between Hori's Real Arcade Pro 3 and Madcatz' SF4 Tournament Arcade Stick, are they about as good as each other without modding?"

HRAP3 needs about 26$ worth of buttons to be equal to TE stick out the box. TE still has some features that the HRAP3 doesn't (buttons on the back, cord storage).

I decided to give up the headache of constantly fixing the badly wired arcade stick that I made for now and just get that Hori EX2 that has been sitting at Toys R' Us for the last year. I'll most likely put the time to get the other stick in good shape again, but for now I can play without having to worry about down not working, or Y failing.

HRAP3 is also $50.00 less then the TE stick, so it all evens out...

edit- bah nvm, didnt realize he dosnt want to mod it, sorries!

ok, thinking about picking one of these 2 sticks up from Amazon but need some help deciding.

I only want to use this stick for MAME.. Games like Donkey Kong, schmups, food fight,etc...no fighters. Are either of these sticks a good choice? I don't mind performing some mods for the stick/buttons if needed as long as it not to complex. Input in appreciated! Thanks.

If you have a BC PS3 then you might still want to consider the HRAP3. Unlike the TE, the HRAP3 will work with PS2 games on a BC PS3.

If you're only using it for PC go for either one I guess.

Thanks guys. The arcade stick is actually for my brother, but I'm trying to make sure we pick one that we won't regret in the long run... Hope Amazon keeps them in stock long enough for us.

Been really tempted to pick up a stick for my PS3 despite owning a TE stick on the 360. Is there anything PS3 exclusive that's worth getting a stick for? Is the Real Arcade Pro 3 the way to go if I already own the TE for my 360?

Is your PS3 BC? There is a wealth of great PS2 fighters.
AFAIK, the only exclusive PS3 fighters this gen are Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online and Mortal Kombat II (both PSN).
An alternative to getting a whole new stick would be to get your 360 TE dual-modded with a cthulhu board for PS3 compatibility.

Yea its an original 60gb, never even thought of that angle. If you have any recommendations feel free to post em (shooters ans fighters).

Does anyone know if I would be able to switch out the stick (HRPA3 or Mad TE) and put in a Mag-Stick Plus stick? I know that this defeats the purpose but I want a good stick for 4/8 way games in MAME.

thanks Dementia- I will only use this stick for MAME PC.

just to be on the safe side, get the TE for the 360. The PS3 version (TE and SE) has issues with certain (NVIDIA i think) motherboards.

That is how it works for me. I usually pop off an order every week and got my stuff from week one in June. They are just now getting to the stuff around the second week of June.

I did my first Aki order last week so I'm gonna finally switch to them. Gotta get one of those cheesy mesh balls next week for white HRAP.

My order from 5/26 hit Canada customs yesterday, hopefully I'll get it this week then I can struggle to cave out a control panel and box for it :D

I sent you a PM because I didn't really want to derail the thread with list wars. Check it out!

I forgot how they shipped my last order - this is probably right though.

Either way, lizardlick rules and my arcade sticks are on their way to look sexy as hell.

Got my HRAP3 in the mail today. I was planning to go TE, but took my time ordering and never got in on the first batch.(I promise you MM, I will go TE on the MvC2 batch)I love the stick, but I am chicken shit scared about changing the buttons. I may make the mod within the next month or so.

Is there any chance of the Tekken 6 stick bundle making it to the EU? Or even just the stick?

G35-Is that a Kaytrim? I have one too, I've not painted it yet though!

yep that's a kaytrim case :) I kinda did an OKAY job paitining then I should have but it works out either way. I can always sand it down and start over lol.

G35, how thick is that piece of wood your buttons and stick are mounted on?

If you can plug in a HRAP to your PS3, you can change the buttons on it.
