I found out later that it is fiberboard. Is it just the one quarter inch sheet that you are mounting to or are there 2-3? I found instructions for a thousand ways to do it in different ways. I would like to use just one piece if it would be strong enough.

If you can plug in a HRAP to your PS3, you can change the buttons on it.

yeah, i'm about to do this as it looks an almost identical process to changing them on the madcatz SE which took me about 5 minutes. Can't find a 7mm nut driver anywhere though :/

Quick question, i own the TE stick and was wondering if having it set to DPAD or Left Stick makes a huge difference in SFIV? BB?

Still gonna be a nice stick. And it is nice that it is inverse of the SE. Of all my sticks, the one I use almost exclusively is my EX that has been decked out with white Sanwa buttons. The rest I just buy for shits and giggles and to collect something.

I do hate the way they announce these things like two weeks before street...they should at least give us a month or two to plan.

I do wish someone told me when the EX-SE was coming out though, that is the only stick I really, really wanted. Oh well! Hope Hori is not averse to money and will re-issue it one day.

Say Yes Boss! How did you get so into shmups and sticks? I saw you selling off your game collection to focus on these things... and this was a recent thing no? How many sticks do you have now and which are your favorites?

There is an EX-SE on eBay right now from seller kyototempleartist. It will set you back $360 after shipping but I've bought stuff from this seller in the past few years and he/she is ace. Probably way too much for it but it is out there.

My history is pretty strange. I'm a lifelong gamer beginning in the early eighties when I lived in the middle east and africa. I didn't grow up with TV, but atari and Game & Watches were always available. I continued through the 16-bit stuff after I moved to the US but stopped buying when Sony entered the market...but I did have a DC with about fifty games when I was in europe. So I basically missed games from 1995 to the launch of the 360, when I jumped back in full-bore and bought everything. Took me about two years to figure I don't really like the new stuff outside of my beloved nintendo so I've dumped everything except nintendo, but kept shmups and fighters since I loved those two genres in the early nineties.

I sold about half of my collection for $5K and bought some Cave shooters and a cabinet and will just focus on those for the next few years. I did something similar with movies...got a degree in film theory and history from UC and Sorbonne Nouvelle, watched about 6000 movies in the last 15 years but now almost exclusively concentrate on Indian cinema.

The sticks are just for fun. Really, I just find the mechanical aspect romantic. I don't much use them and it is a relatively inexpensive and an easy hands-off hobby. Far, far cheaper than some of my other recent hobbies. My favorite sticks so far are the HRAP-EX and the Mad Catz SE...but, again, I'm just a casual user so that probably doesn't mean much.

I think you wanna keep it on DPAD. I remember someone saying putting it on stick can cause some goofiness. Not sure if that's really the case but I always trust strangers on the internet so I keep mine on DPAD.

Oh hey, I did the same thing a few years ago. I intended to keep my collection small but it ended up ballooning anyway. Not too bad though. I still buy too much junk but I have a much easier time of letting go of it. I probably wouldn't even bother with many new games if I had access to my cab. Too much of a hassle to move it and no room for it where I live. :(

Thanks Yes Boss! for the tip! I bought the Ebay EX-SE... I just hope it's the right one, the picture showed the regular EX, but I'm sure it's the EX-SE otherwise I won't go through with the deal. It's really overpriced but it's my Birthday present!

Yes PCBs are definitely where it's at in terms of romantic game hardware. I have at one point in time fantasized about getting into it... maybe later on in my life when I'm more settled. I'll be at MAK Japan later on this month, so if you need me to look out for anything, just PM me.

I'm surprised you rate the SE higher than the TE... it's the one stick I don't have. I might have to consider getting one now. My favorites are my RG buttons modded HRAP EX, followed closely by the TE and the VSHG and HRAP2 with all Seimitsu parts. I'm sure the EX-SE will shoot straight to the top of the list when I receive it... mmm, finally!

And you're anything but a casual user!

With the release of Street Fighter IV on PC and my desire to buy a PS3 this year, I am thinking of buying an arcade stick. I saw that the Pro Fighting Stick 3 is in stock at amazon, but I also found this version in stock for 50 dollars more. I know I can mod it myself, but it seems the price difference isn't enough for me to bother. Is this worth it or is there an even better stick coming out soon?

If you intend on spending $50 more, just get the TE stick which is full-Sanwa out of the box. Plus you get cord storage, a longer cable, and better start/select button placement.

Drats, it's just a regular EX!
Oh well... the wait continues... (crushed)

You're serious, someone listed the HRAP EX-SE on ebay and essentially lied about what it was? What a tool (the ebay person, not you).

Sorry about your search for the EX-SE. I've moved back to wanting to keep mine for now, but that might change in 2 weeks when I get closer to moving.

Loser eBay auctioneer! Now I feel bad for even mentioning it.

I guess I'll try to go through Aki this time for the forthcoming EX-SA. Can't trust that NCS will get them in anymore, a shame because I'm a shockingly loyal customer. Folks with past experience at Aki, at what time do the special-order Horistore items usually get listed on their site (Japan-time)?

I bought both my HRAP2: SA and HRAP3: SA from Aki Shop, and had zero problems with either order. As for when they become available - check in the Aki shop thread on the SRK tech forum, and just check the Aki web store twice a day, really. They're bound to show up, unless they are really really limited and hard to acquire.

Ok, bookmarked! I'm assuming he will post there when they become listed.

The only stick left now (for Hori), would be a Hrap2:SE

Be sure to take a picture of the updated "family" all together once you get the new EX-SA in. Should be something!

Just realized that for completionists like you and MarkMan the chance of a HRAP2: SE seems like a lost cause...like they will never make it since that ship has sailed.

I've got a HRAP2: SA (still widely available) and I'd certainly buy its twin.

Should be fun. I'm not liking the "limited" marketing angle speak. Just put the stuff out there with no qualifiers and let it speak for itself.

I'm thinking it will be a Capcom-Unity exclusive or Capcom store exclusive re-color of a TE or SE. I doubt it'll be a whole new design.

I'm hoping for both! I'd like another little SE (those things are cute).

EDIT: oh, you are thinking an exclusive generic release. Does Capcom even have the rights to use MvC logo or imagery on products?

If it is through their store...I shudder. The one time I ordered from Capcom they failed to deliver their Phoenix Wright title until regular stores had already had it for a week. :-( Hoping for Amazon, at the very least.

MarkMan, as promised, my wallet (well, bank account since I don't have a wallet) is open and ready! Bring us something fun.

No worries, honest mistake on his part.

Good eBayer, yeah. I've bought all my Japanese Club Nintendo items and a few special edition Micros through him over the years. But, he started raising prices slightly and charging mandatory insurance so I've gone to other sellers...but it was always a good experience.

Somebody seems to have bought the PS3 HRAP SE that was up for $250 and free shipping. That was a pretty good deal and what I paid for mine.

This upcoming 360 SA stick looks like it will be another pain. I've gotta be on my toes with Akihabara. It is a very pretty stick with its colorful buttons.

I hear that controller has problems with most PCs. Well, I just read that it works fine with intel chips. I have an q6600 intel chip, so I assume it will be alright.

Official website preorder (horistore) for the EX-SA starts next monday, the 6th. As much as I'm sick of Sanwas and HRAPs, I will be on my toes too. Damn this hobby.

Maybe LE MvC2 sticks? Seems unlikely for a downloadable re-release, though.
Maybe, it's got the Mango Sentinel color scheme :lol
It's not unprecedented, Hori made those $300 Twinsticks for VOOT XBLA

But I'm sure Marvel fans want Happ, not Sanwa

The soul still burns!!! Keep me posted in 2 weeks:)

After being swept off my feet with BB I think I'm going to save my P3 te stick design for another day. Anyone got high quality scans/art for BlazBlue?

..... Again! I hate you lol.

It's indeed for PS3 since it says R1 :D

(Too bad I won't be getting it).

I think it is safe to say that, here in US/Canada, it will be released for both systems. Time to buy one for both as a sign on support. Strange: I use my 360s five-fold over my Triples but have twice as many sticks for the Sony systems...go figure. That is why the Hori 360 SA is extra special.

I feel kinda dumb asking this but is there a particular type of buttons i can purchase for the TE? Do I get 30mms?

EDIT: Think I'm gonna go with some afrosam art:

Any suggestions?
