Somehow, one of the most disingenuous posters on the board, one who has a massive ban under his belt for doing so, isn’t giving me much faith that those examples aren’t cherry-picked.

In my experience, both of you (as in PS console warriors and Xbox console warriors) are trying (and failing, thankfully) to make this board hell on earth for anyone who wants to have a decent discussion, and each is convinced that the other side is the only one engaging in this behavior, rather than considering any possible introspection for just a second.

Thus again and again, you run into bans and permas like lemmings off a cliff, thinking that the other side is the problem, and SonyGaf is out to get you, or Phil Spencer mods Gaf in his spare time.

You should take the time, with all these bans and permas, before registering your alts, to actually sit down and try to comprehend why you were given the axe, and how you managed to make one of the most forgiving, kind moderation teams on the internet hunt you down like a bizarre Purge movie.

I see this game being heavily discounted come Black Friday so they have some numbers to announce.

I thought it would be critically favoured, but bought by nobody.

Now it might not even earn that high review score, and might sell less then I anticipated to the casuals.

Fanboys care about specs, number of exclusives, metacritic ratings, insider credibility, and sometimes games when it comes time to prop up a great exclusive. Bo_Hazem glad you are back, i think memes/jokes are fine you just have to be mindful of context, some threads are more sensible than others and can easily get derailed, likewise some subjects are more sensible, and bait posts... its best to ignore them, they seldom have any substance.

Not that anyone cares about my newbie opinion, but seeing all the bans for console warring nonsense was what finally got me off the lurker fence. I was just skimming for news and not joining as the fanboy arguing stuff was among the worst I'd seen in years on forums when I first start looking at GAF again a few months back. I never joined back in the day as I don't like to use my work e-mail for forums etc. and stopped visiting when traffic died down after the Resetera breakway--lurked there for years for news, but stopped a few months back as the political BS was too much even as a lurker.

So in any case, I hope it's kept up and people eventually raise the level of discourse and focus on talking games instead of defending corporations (tall order for gamers though in my many years on forums, Reddit etc.). I hope it doesn't take a ton of perma bans though and people just learn to moderate themselves after some warnings/suspensions/seeing people who don't get the message banned.

This would be nice. I don’t think they get that if they just acted like normal human beings, there would be no issues.

I’d like to see them turn their passion for their consoles towards providing awesome content on the board. Instead of all the crap they do, make awesome Sony and Microsoft content for everyone to enjoy.

And I’d love to see that as well. I wish I had more to offer the board myself, but I tend to be late in reading game news, don’t play as many games at launch and those I do I play slower than most in OTs so I rarely have much to offer that hasn’t already been shared.

Still trying to post quick thoughts on things I’m playing etc to at least bump discuss of games so it’s not just all fanboys arguing spec/sales/whatever. Console launch years/windows are always insufferable.

I think you’d be surprised. You appear quite intelligent, humble, and insightful, just from observing two posts, and those are always qualities in demand, anywhere in the world.

Thanks a lot to all of you around here: SonGoku MiyazakiHatesKojima thelastword @Rusco Da Vino TLZ and all the users and mods (like dear EviLore and Mod of War: Remastered ) around here who took a part of their time to give it to a stranger like me.

I've been getting ridiculed for quite a time now and I always tried to keep it subjective and direct to the debate (which some call it trolling because they can't contribute or reply subjectively). After the last 1 week ban I stopped using the likes: Xbox fanboys, Xbots. And my criticism, when happens, was directly to Microsoft and Xbox backed with links and citations not out of the blue, which is fair play in journalism.

I'm trying to contribute as best as possible, of course I'm biased towards Sony, that's why I'm using this avatar, at least I'm not a liar pretending to be neutral then act extremely on either side. Some tried to call me Sony fanboy or Sony Pony, and they got "offended" because I don't get offended by those silly, childish names but laugh and have fun instead. Mods can even tag me with "Sony Pony, Sony Fanboy" if that makes them happy.

I think I was a victim of a team work (organized ban plan) because some just don't like my opinions, even though I don't insult or take it to a personal level. I understand that memes are now not allowed? Because at the beginning of me signing it was like the sugar of the speculation thread (my home). Sometimes it get's heated so memes can help for a laugh and ease up the mood around there, but some can't laugh or take it lightly, I guess.

Anyway, I won't go hostile as some would expect or like laugh or say "fuck you haters". I'll continue normally but with "out of jail" photo, if allowed.

The message was a generic one applied to multiple users in that thread who's squabbles/poking were derailing the general flow of the thread. It probably doesn't apply exactly in your case, but was more in response to this post from the logs. We are being a little firmer in that thread now with derails and people dragging out conflicts or poking at each other with the only aim of scoring some points. Given the actual reports about more delicate issues, we don't have the capacity to mollycoddle/tend every interaction. That thread already has the record for most reply bans as I'm sure you can imagine. A lot of people flock to that thread for the information and to follow any updates/tech descriptions and causes the most ire for other posters just trying to read through it.


That being said, in this particular instance and reviewing the other reply bans issued (especially with subsequent context from other threads with particular users), we'll be happy to roll it back and ask in future to not engage or call out in this way. Simply report others and the mods will get there in time. In certain cases, it might take a bit of time for a mod to pick up the report amongst the many but they will get there. Don't fall into the trap of being provoked.

Recently I get this feeling that the forum is running amok with troll and provokative posts and mods don't intervere at all. I don't think the report buttons will be helping much in this case, only gonna agravate frustration when nothing is done.
