I don't know what you expected from a thread like that, you started it horribly. You can't make claims like that and then expect everyone to go and dig up the relevant information themselves.

Well, the proofs are shown, and you use your eyes to see the pixels density. Does smelling, touching, listening supposed to do anything? No, it's very clear and all sources are there.

Sorry I'm much more inclined to trust DF than one of the most biased Sony fans on GAF. You went to a lot of trouble to put forth yet another DF conspiracy. You guys already drove them off this site, now you and your pals sit in the Spec thread all day and dream up conspiracies against poor beleaguered Mother Sony.

Just stop it's unhealthy. Besides it's not Digital Foundry, it's the Illuminati that have it in for Sony.

Firefox extension to get the highest version of the video coded through VP9, known as WebM. Every video you upload on youtube turns into WebM files, they're very efficient in size. 4K@60fps 8-bit for 100Mbps bitrate is around 750M/minute. The videos are already compressed, and you can't get the original files from youtube.

Then extract screenshots at highest quality possible, PNG, through VLC media player.

Watch the DF video. Or see all the articles being written right now.

Screenshots are done by me, not from a 3rd party. Also, you may download the same videos, at the same seconds indicated previously if you may open the spoiler cover in that OP thread.

Extension name:
YouTube Video and Audio Downloader (Dev Edt.)

You would need further patches to be installed into the system to merge WebM audio with WebM video automatically upon download.

I have a downloader, I can get the files as MKV at the exact same size as yours. I can then save 3840x2160 screenshots from both, load them into Photoshop and zoom in.

My question is (aside from where the claims are made that you're opposing, you still haven't posted them) what am I supposed to learn from zooming into two screenshots from a ripped YouTube video that's already compressed, that both contain the same amount of pixels, and then counting the pixels in each..?

You may check the pixel density, it's as much as RDR2 4K official trailer, and much higher than Halo like double (hence 1440p). It's pretty easy and visible, it's not hard to acknowledge.

This doesn't prove anything, though. Those are just random screenshots you took. Depending where I look in the video, I can get 4mb DeS screenshots, or 8mb ones.

Watch, I can get a screenshot of Halo which is a significantly larger filesize than yours:

I can then blow that up 400x in Photoshop and the pixel density doesn't look so bad:

And at the same time, I can pull a crappy 3.5mb DeS screenshot from the same source, pick a bad area of the image, blow it up 400x and make it look terrible:

This is a really bad methodology for comparing these things. It's almost entirely meaningless. I don't know how or why DF measure these things, I'm not here to defend them, I don't watch their shit, and I still don't have any sources from you on their claims. But this just doesn't work, there's far too many factors at play. Download Youtube videos, ripping screenshots arbitrarily and zooming in to count pixels doesn't mean jack. This is why you're taking so much shit and your thread was closed, no-one was going to go the lengths above, I'm just bored at work waiting for code to compile.

No worries. I think this forum has a problem right now with people posting non-argument template/meme responses to things, and it's getting old, however I do also think you started that thread badly and the responses were appropriate given how little you'd originally posted, and the way in which you framed it.

Anyway, this isn't really the place for more of the above, but I think it's productive to at least demonstrate why the response were what they were, and why the thread was closed.

If evidence would be good enough, then people would shit on DF by themselves without you risking anything 😀. I'm not saying your conclusions must be wrong, but your evidence was questionable.

Halo infinite is using dynamic 4K + VRS, so it's not true 4K anyway and should be not viewed as point of reference when it comes to 4K resolution quality (on top of that YT compression is using aggressive VBR settings, so pixels can look bigger).

The best comparison would be another game running at 1440p upscaled to 4K (like uncharted 4 on PS4P). If demons souls remake in performance mode has smaller pixels than uncharted 4, then I'm willing to believe DF were wrong.

Yet DF always claiming it's native 4K? So what is happening? Anyway, I've said enough, and the truth is out there, very crystal clear for who's going after it. And put RDR2 official 4K PC version that matches DS pixel density for reference.
