I took a hiatus when mik stopped updating and I got serious artists block trying to make a metal gear soda ride, but since you're updating now I'm back on it.

I had to fix a lot of issues, though: no shadows, spare grey pixels here and there, resizing/rotating artifacts.

Writing at that angle, at that size, on a cylinder is way hard, but I tried to make it look as clean as possible. Got rid of Ocelot... I think the can is recognizable enough without that blob of pixels. Added some railing to make it less plain.

Who made NBA-GAF? It was huge, but I think I could cram it in by using a few tricks. I can't find the building though :/

I might as well repost (in post #3) the city plan Mik made originally, I'm trying to stick to it and will eventually fix any discrepancies (see the Nibris building, which will probably be moved somewhere else) later.

I myself downloaded it from this link on the Microsoft website. Double-click and it'll extract some .dll's and mspaint.exe. Worked like a charm, even on Linux.

God I love Paint.

So I looked at the "6.5" building and something came to mind... We don't have enough gaming controversies! We were still missing Gerstmann!

If it's not clear enough: it's the Gerstmann-gate, made out of coins and dollar bills with "Fair" written on top of it. It's got shadows already and it's on a transparent background.

I wanted to get an "8.8" in there somewhere, but that didn't work out. Also, can someone make a tiny Jeff Gerstmann, packing his bags? Possibly leaving through the gate?


GIMP works great for shadowing, btw! :O


Edit: maybe we can have some of these near the Gaming Slums, kinda where they belong? Or maybe the waste site. Together with "8.8" and "IGN 6.5", stuff like that.

That's where I got stuck too... I couldn't find a simple line-tool for GIMP.

Now I'm working in Paint and keeping everything seperate because it doesn't have layers.


You could try to create the things in Paint, then copy/paste everything to a different GIMP layer and combine + add shadows there. I guess.

Just a list of things so people can put their name to their creations! I've put mine on but I've been out of the loop so I cant remember who did what. If you use the pencil mode, set it to 1 pixel width and no anti-aliasing, you can do most things with GIMP. Once you have settled into pixel art you get the 'knack' of it and I can freehand most lines accurately using the join two dots function (not its name, its when you can create lines with pencil/brush using the shift button). You can kind of see using that whether the line will be isometric or not.

Just to say my E3 building hasn't been changed since I last did it in the old thread, good to see this in a new thread as it keeps the project alive and fresh.
It should be completed soon unless people want more changes. I am free most of the time now so I can finally work on it.

One thing, what do people want to see on a poster down the side of the building. I need something GAF and E3 related, I was thinking of a 500 error but I see it's been done already, any suggestions?

It is all saved as .png on my computer. I uploaded it to Photobucket and it is now like this for some reason. Ah well, you get the idea.
