I don't think there's as much equivalency here as you'd like to imply. There's a pretty big gulf between DVD cases/comic books on a shelf and these outlandish, scantily-clad, tweenie-age anime girl figurines.

well, it depends on the figures. i assumed you meant anime figures from regular stuff like Naruto or Bleach etc. if you're talking about shadier stuff, that can apply to DVDs/comics as well. i mean, i think girls would worry if some guy had a massive porn DVD collecton or maybe they like collecting a ton of hentai manga. ;) it works both ways, imo.

(Sorry for the bad pic quality) I've finally entered the HD era! Pulled the trigger on a Samsung LN40A650 40-Inch 1080p TV. God this thing looks good. No more squinting at small text in games for me! :D

Haha saucy girl! ;)

To be fair, though, even for porn DVDs or hentai manga, it's much more inconspicuous on a shelf. A lot easier for them to blend in. But the majority of female anime figurines are pretty glaringly obvious.

Nice little game. It has Boom Blox vibes, can't wait to play it in multi. Only shame is the waggle for jumping, they should have just made that an A button jump.

Love the music though, especially how it changes through the level. And only £18 at play.com, that's a no-brainer.

Goldenaxe will be out the door soon. I got the 360 Arcade Unit to replace my Core system (which in turn replaced a launch premium model) from last year. It had started to freeze up and stutter lately, and rather than have it die and have to spend more money to import a Japanese or Asian 360 when I move back to the States soon, I just went ahead and replaced it. Now I have a quieter system with HDMI, plus I was still able to get rid of my older system and bring the price down quite a bit.

Just wondering, how did you get that version of Fable II, isn't it releasing December?

That's the Asian version, ordered off of Play-Asia.

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-dw-49-en-70-2slw.html

It's region-free, surprisingly.

Damn it, okay, I've got to ask.

To those of you who are buying these anime figurines and crap, do you tend/have to kind of hide them somewhere when you have a female coming over? Or is this question completely irrelevant because many of you don't have females over?

I'm just asking. That question just popped into my head.

Nope, but in my old place the toys/games/posters and crap I had took over my living room and I felt this was quite tacky. Didn't have anywhere else to put them, and even though my wife didn't complain, I told her our next place wasn't going to be like that and I would get my own "nerd room." Now we are living with her in-laws and I do have a room I use just for gaming and such, but didn't bother putting so many little toys out or any posters up at all.

But hide them? It's just some dumb toy-crap and an extension of my hobby. Not everyone is insecure about what they like. I am happily married and I know some of the other posters have girlfriends/wives too. I suppose if you have no social life and stay at home watching animu all day with your 400 figurines and character bedsheets, then there might be a problem.

A lot of people hated the button mashing gameplay of the console games, but I enjoyed it. While this game is fun, I'd rather mash the fuck out of my enemies rather than throwing trading cards at them.

Went a bit crazy at Half Price Books, what with a coupon and gift card I had.

-Been wanting Maus for a long time, not sure why I didn't get it before.

-Never thought I'd find a copy of Nuklear Age in a Half Price, as it's written by a webcomic guy (8-bit theater at NuklearPower.com) so I figured it was a little too niche.

-I've heard great things about the China Mieville books, now I just need to find a hardcover version of Perdido Street Station that matches these two so I can get started (I'm anal about stuff on my bookshelf matching :D).

-Inventing Japan and Tokyo: City and Architecture are to go along with my study of the language and so I can get a bit more realistic exposure to the culture than what I get from anime :lol.

-Already had a copy of Dragons of Summer Flame, but that was a big hardcover and the copies of the three Chronicles books I have to go with it are paperback, so I had to match them.

- I got Awakened Mage and Innocent Mage almost solely because I thought the cover art was pretty cool. They were cheap enough, won't be a big loss even if I don't like them.

-The X-Com disc has UFO Defense, Terror from the Deep, and Apocalypse on it, and it was only $3.98. Not a bad deal, though I think you can get at least the first two for free online.

::edit::

angelfly's post reminded me that I also got My Japanese Coach recently, to go with the copy of Remembering the Kanji I got a few months ago. Too lazy to go pull out the camera just for that, though.

I just got this TV too on Monday . It's my first HDTV and I'm enjoying it so far. I spent all day Monday calibrating and getting the colors to my liking. The set is awesome.

I posted a pic in the gaming setup thread bu I'll post it here since it's my latest pick-up. I'm essentially broke until next week. :(

how is the new Castelvanis? is it more of the same of the previous Vanias on the DS? cuz the last vania i enjoyed were Symphony of the Night on PS1 and Circle of the Moon on the GBA.....every castelvnia after those two were complete garbage.

does the new one do anything different? and is it difficult? or is it easy like the DS version which i found extremely boring.

I don't get all the super-hate for Alundra 2. Not as good as the first, of course, and for that matter has absolutely nothing in common with it (outside of genre), but I didn't think it was all that bad of a game.

Thought it was definitely worth whatever it was that I paid for it back in the day, and it is a steal for $3 imo.

Who paid you to grab Dr. Pavel?
What stores are people getting LBP from? Would something like Blockbuster have it? I assume Gamestop wouldn't sell it.

What?! The games that came after Circle of the Moon (Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin) are all great games. Circle of the Moon is the weakest of the portable games if you ask me. You're crazy!

I just picked up 220$ after selling my Wii.

I think I might buy a BMX bike.

Not so much a pick-up, more of a drop-off. ;)

Played about an hour into Fable 2 last night, it's pretty cool. Yet to be convinced about the swordplay, I think I preferred Fable 1's having a seperate button to block, but we'll see how it pans out with proper play. Hopefully I can get an hour in after work tonight.

Disgaea 3 guide is wicked, but I was expecting it to be A4 or something. Some of the fonts are kinda tiny, it can be hard work to read it.

It was bad, not abysmally bad, but bad nonetheless.

The worst part was "Alundra 2" plastered as title. It seemed a poor joke after Alundra awesomeness, and had nothing in common. That is were the hate began.

How many stock images can you find in this thread besides the aforementioned $20 dollar pic?

I don't have it here with me, but it's probably in the region of 250 pages. All full colour, obviously. It goes into tremendous depth, with 2-3 pages of strategy for each main stage, side stage and dark world stage, character class and weapon charts... the lot. It's an incredibly in-depth guide. I've never known such an awesome guide.

Ok, I'll take you word for it and buy it, it'll be the last Castelvania I buy if it disappoints.

I hope it's out in London since I'm here getting my foot operation and wouldnt mind picking it up to kill time while my foot is in cast.

I dunno if playing it while recovering is such a good idea since the game stressed me out big time. Almost threw my DS in pieces :lol

Should be available in London by now. Good luck with the operation
