my CX has a lot of dead pixels now
it's 2.5 years old and as you can see only 934 hours usage (at time of photo which was last week). well, it's a bit higher than that because i accidentally reset my tv after getting instop and instart mixed up lol. it's probably about 970 hours.
luckily all the dead pixels are near the edges of the screen and i can't notice them due to the distance i sit away from the TV. in the bottom photo you can see that the corner has a lot of dead pixels which make the corner look rounded. i always knew i had 2 dead pixels but was shocked to see this recently.
i do have a warranty on the TV until late 2025. the store i bought it from has standard 5 year warranty but i bought the optional 5 year warranty for accidental damage/burn in etc. since the dead pixels don't affect my enjoyment of the TV i'm not gonna do anything about it just yet. i'll probably wait another couple years before getting in touch with the insurance company....unless things get worse in the meantime.
what would the insurance company do if i did contact them? I rarely ever buy insurance and have never had to deal with an insurance company (outside my car lol). do they hire someone to repair it or would they just replace it with a like for like model? i mean say i contact them today....you can't buy new CX models so would they give me a C2? Again, I'm quite happy with my TV and don't want to replace it right now. It works perfectly fine.
