I already loved their Carissa's Wierd reissues and La Sera but after someone introduced me to Green Hardly Art became one of those labels I'll give every release from a try. Chastity Belt, Protomartyr, S/Jenn Ghetto, gem Club, Jacuzzi Boys. some of those are a lot better than others, but still.

I don't know how to feel about the FJM album. On the one hand it's kind of meandering and irony drenched for the first two thirds. On the other hand that makes the ending that much better. I tend to lean towards the latter, I think the progression is kind of touching and a better tribute to love then a lot of the melodramatic singer/songwriter stuff that comes out.

Swim Deep just announced a new album and the new single of it sounds great:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mai5IULoBYE

The recruited a new member (key board) and suddenly they got way more interesting. I was never big on their first album, it was too empty and vain, but the electronica adds a lot of depth. Its funny to see them going from boring to fun just by adding a new instrumen.

Another Birmingham based band that is coming through the rank. With Peace's new album ''Happy People'' being awesome, Superfood touring around UK and JAWS writing new material, 2015 could be the defining year for Brummy alt-music.

Johnny posted the new Chromatics single: "Just Like You"

Unsurprisingly, the album ain't making that Valentine's release since he's still mixing it.
Knew that release date was too good to be true =[

But damn, love the track. According to Pitchfork they'll put out a new track every week until the album is out? Hope that's true. Johnny blessing us <3

My most hated trend in album releases over the last several years. Completely devalues the experience, although this at least wouldn't be as bad as some of the Soundcloud/Tumblr artists who have the bulk of their albums sitting out there for months or even years.

Yeah, don't want him to over do it. Hopefully the release isn't too deep into March so it'll only be like 2-3 more tracks.

Pretty solid. Reminds me a lot of of Passion Pit musically but I'm enjoying these vocals a lot more

Yeah, I really like the fact that the vocals aren't grating considering the style of music they play. Also, they are stil teengagers, which is amazing. I am looking forward to their release even though I heard most of their tracks million times already.

Also, it seems Wire's new album went under the radar as they announced it its gonna be out in May (I think). Thier new single is pretty good!

I can't even get on board the months early single releases. By the time an album rolls around I've checked out on a song (assuming it's good) and kind of kills the flow of an album.

Nowadays, I just generally try to avoid them.

I've been constantly listening to Billy Talent, all of their albums (even their average as shit album III).

Guess I'm getting prepped for their new album which I suspect to be released this year.

I'm definitely skipping Pitchfork, might be done with it altogether after having gone three years straight it's just gotten considerably worse every time.

You wait in a long ass line to get in because they always make it there's really only one entry point. Then if you want to drink you have to wait in a really long ass line to get beer tickets and then subsequently take those tickets and wait in a long ass line to actually get the beer. You have to show up at least 30 minutes before a show to get even a decent spot unless they're really unknown or just shitty so that usually means leaving something really early and or skipping something you would have wanted to see altogether. And because they come to the stage consistently late you'll be waiting there either sitting on the grass around an incredible mass of hot bodies on a hot Chicago day waiting or standing the whole time if there isn't enough room. There's good food and a cool marketplace of completely overpriced posters, t-shirts, and other goods but you won't have time to peruse them if you want to get a good spot at a show. Leaving the festival each day is a nightmare. Of course riding the L is the best choice, but you'll have to consistently wait for the next train as everyone else will also be riding it. The security has also clamped down harder on drug use, like back in 2012 I could hope to catch a joint from a cool dude while chatting about a show, but now you'll get tossed quicker than you can even get buzzed.

Damn, I will be in Kentucky around this time. May have to get a ticket.

Mr Twin Sister's name jumped out at me for some reason. I loved their album last year, would love to see them live.

I have had...the complete opposite experience with p4k fest. Especially compared to the other major chicago fest. At pitchfork the front line has never taken me long, it's always quick to get tickets and a beer, it's been super easy to go from show to show because the park isn't too big, it's been a breeze to get to a show right when it's starting and still get a decent spot (except at blue stage sometimes when it's someone really hyped), the latest people have started is like 10 minutes after, I've never had a problem sharing a joint during a show, and I've never had a problem taking the el to and from. I guess I didn't go last year but dunno how you had literally the inverse experience I did in '13 and '12 lol.

I'll be back in Chicago that weekend but I can't go which sucks cause I like the lineup.

I don't want to shit in the other thread, so: it's hilarious that a Muse album is actually legitimately titled Drones, right?

That is a great line-up. Good to see Mourn playing along the big boys. They are like 16 year old and the get to hang out with the likes Run the Jewels and New Ponographers.

Well not really. The way he describes it you'd think Pitchfork Fest is a logistic nightmare. It's very possible to create a festival in the way Big Ander is describing Pitchfork Fest. Most festivals I go to are like that to be honest.

It's funny how they experience the same festival in completely opposite ways though :p

Pitchfork has been really plugging them so it doesn't come as a total surprise. Adding the Primavera connection too (Mourn is from Barcelona). But it's pretty cool to play the big festivals as a young band. If they're in Europe around Best Kept Secret I expect them to play there too. They're exactly the kind of band the organisation is usually after. And their earlier gig at a showcase festival here was apparently pretty good.

Last year it was the worst! That's what I'm saying. I'm talking about the year you didn't go.

Twin Shadow's new track is actually horrible.

but...but.... I have been told that its just a change of style that makes it appear horrible.

Poor guy who was looking forward to his record. its indeed awful, but I was expecting it since it subsequently a mediocre album

Yeah, I don't love it. Didn't like the other song from the new album "Turn Me Up" either =[

A shame because I think he has a great voice and I like his first two albums a lot (especially that first one). Don't have high hopes for this upcoming one, though.

Really? I love the track. I understand he's going in a different direction for this album but I'm enjoying it. I'm okay with him putting out what is probably going to sound like a long lost soundtrack to a John Hughes film
