what do you think about this watch?
I like it.
To follow up, I received this in the mail a couple weeks ago. Outstanding watch.

Fantastic. Love it.

The guy with the vintage Breitling: I've appreciated Breitling (their modern stuff) from afar and also think your watch is a great find.

My wife and l have just bought our eldest son this watch for his 18th birthday.
We really wanted to get him the one below but it was a bit to pricey.

Limited edition Nicky Hayden MotoGp watch.

Any tips for a good everyday yet classy watch?
I've got a Cartier that my parents got as a birthday gift, but I don't wear that too often (I have a horrible track record with watches).
I typically wear a Fossil as my everyday, go to watch, but I want to treat myself to something nicer. $300-$500

I've fallen in love with this watch. I don't ever see myself spending that much for a watch though.

Lucky you, then. Because you can get a Seiko like that for around 100-200 bucks.
you can get a watch that looks similar for 200 bucks, but that's where the comparison stops.

So I'm in the market for a new watch. I've been wearing a pretty plain/utilitarian Fossil for the last 3-4 years, and while it totally serves it's purpose and looks alright, I'd really like to get a nice new watch.

I plan to scour this thread for suggestions already given, but I'm definitely looking for something with a leather band. I tried out a couple today at a department store and noticed the bands felt really rigid, which was uncomfortable to say the least. The rigidly round leather band made my wrist feel positively rectangular, and the watch wouldn't sit well no matter how loose or tight I made it.

Now, I imagine the rigidity goes away after awhile, but are there leather bands that aren't so rigid from the start? Any other suggestions/advice are welcome.

Family decided to replace my simple $40 sport watch with this one this Holiday:

Was completely surprised. Looks very nice but probably only wear it in to work or fancy occasions. Keep the sport watch for everything else.

Joined the club, not a time piece expert by any means and the numerals are off center by about 1/4th of a second but I can stare at the mechanics all day, its mesmerizing.

I picked up a Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic recently. Its a perfect dress watch as my Tissot is more of sports watch and my seiko is my everyday piece.

I really like this watch. I almost bought it last year but I got a similar nice watch as a gift. Good taste.

Well duh. But I figured he just liked the military look!

Do you happen to know the model name?

The closet thing I found was this, but the face isn't as nearly simple. - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001E1UMN4/?tag=neogaf0e-20

No, but if you ask the folks on the seiko board over at watchuseek, they'll have the model sniffed out for you in no time.

There are a billion watches with a similar style, I have a couple crap ones and a decent one.

If you just want that style, and not all the bells and whistles, try these:

Or just search for field watch.

I am hoping timepiece GAF can assist me in finding a watch, because I have been unsuccessful so far and I looked through this thread without luck.

I really want to get a G-Shock watch, however I have a skinny wrist and I think the G-Shock watches may be too large for m my wrist. To give you an idea of what size of watch I can use, I currently own this and it fits comfortably: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00074HDAO/?tag=neogaf0e-20.

I am basically looking for a tough everyday digital watch that I do not want to worry about getting damaged. Preferably I would like solar and atomic features, like G-Shock watches. Any help would be appreciated!

G-Shock mudman. They are smaller than most G-Shock.

Thinking about picking up that Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic posted earlier.

The Stowa Airman Ikarus has really caught my eye:

You all have some fine watches, but damn at the prices.

I am thinking about a G-Shock since they are decent and well priced. Right now I am rocking a black Fossil.

Have been meaning to post up pictures. First, my Sinn UX EZM 2B GSG 9 (mouthful, I know). It is a simple, but beautiful design. It keeps time so well that I only really ever have to change it when DST comes around. Thanks in part to the oil-filled case it's very easy to read. Onkel's writeup on his own UX convinced me to buy one. I've worn it pretty much every day since I bought it. I will definitely be holding on to it.

It's an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, 45.5mm size ("big size"). I have only had it for a few hours. Initially I must say the attention to detail on every surface is incredible. It's very comfortable to wear - I'm quite happy with my choice for my first automatic. I suspect I'll be holding onto this for quite a while, also :)

I used to love watches, but I'm not much of an accessory guy so I would almost always forget to put it on in the morning. This thread is making me want to go back through my collection.

Congrats, it is a really gorgeous timepiece. Soon I'll join the club!

I love the Planet Ocean. I've thought about selling off my 2254.50 to get one, but the PO is still in production. The 2254.50 is not. :(

Yeah don't get rid of that watch. Love that design, too. The large mark at 12 o'clock is really bold and I can always distinguish that watch from a ways away. Keep.

This thread has me wanting to add to my meager collection! Anyone have some sexy black on black (all metal) pics to share or recommend? Or maybe a dark gunmetal or whatever it's called? I like my links on the larger side and am not against a chronograph, but don't want anything too too busy. $500 range?

Might have just fallen in love with this one:

Model number please? That image URL isn't telling me much.

I've been scouring for a Citizen Eco-Drive AT0540 model that has apparently disappeared off the face of the internet as of a few months ago when I decided not to buy it. Kind of regretting it now... Looking for a viable alternative that I like.

That is a nice looking model. It looks like there are some websites selling them but I don't think I would order from any of them.

Oh and here is the watch model you were asking for http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004JKFIEU/?tag=neogaf0e-20

There's also a non-chrono version in the BM6675-52G...at least it looks practically the same. Am I color blind or do those amazon pics make the face look dark blue? Do I chalk it up to the photographer? The official citizen page shows this, which looks quite different (linked to newegg for larger pic):

You might also consider looking at some of the international Seiko watches. They have some all black watches (including chronographs) that are also quite attractive. I don't have any particular model in mind but the ones I've seen should be within your budget.

how much did you pay for it?

The retail price of the watch is $4,150 USD. Do not pay this. The jewelers I visited all discounted them. Mine offered a 15% discount off MSRP, but there is often more bargaining room than that. I got them to go to $3,350. Add my sales tax of 6% and it was $3,551 said and done.

Enron said:
If you can't get at least a 25% discount on an Omega, you should walk. 30% discounts can be regularly had.

Guess the two dealers around me and the one I went to in San Francisco all offer low discounts. I'm finding non-Omega-dealer online prices for fairly close to what I paid, maybe $100 less (no Omega warranty...lol). Looking through Chrono24, a lot of new condition secondhand watches of the same type are being sold for roughly the same amount I paid, a couple were up to $150 less, quite a few were more (plus you have to add shipping). So, what jeweler do you go to? And I guess I should ask what state (TX perhaps? hehe). That could have something to do with it.
