I like that it syncs bookmarks/history/cookies, but it sure crashes more than Safari for me. Also occasionally it will refuse to retain cookies for a session, so sometimes it will just randomly refuse to let me log into sites like GAF.

I'll keep using it for the syncing alone, but I sure hope they keep improving it.

Just now I downloaded a couple of JB tweaks like 3 finger tap for fullscreen and make Chrome the default browser and it's just peachy.

Yea, reading the reviews I saw a number of complaints like that especially when having multiple tabs. I really hope they improve on the stability of it because I really want to have a browser to replace safari

Tweetbot for Mac should be dropping today.

https://twitter.com/tapbot_paul/status/223065256174428163

Apart from design, what makes it better then my current client - Echofon? For me the ability to sync up what tweets I've read is incredibly important to me, since I'm on four different machines that I use for Twitter every day.

Anything outstanding that Tweetbot does?
Look a few pages back for a post I made about what makes Tweetbot different from other clients in terms of functionality.

Because Tweetbot IS Twitter for many people on iOS? The service isn't nearly as interesting without it. Twitter loses much of its appeal to me (and clearly others) if Tweetbot is not involved.

that doesnt make sense. What about the CONTENT!? and I don't think that is true. I think content matters more than UI

If the UI is designed with precision and intuition, many people find that consuming the content is more desirable (as evidenced through the success Apple products, Flipboard, etc). The UI essentially becomes an extension of the content and the two work interchangbly.

Wait, so people outside the US won't be able to do the trial of the new Next Issue app? =(

I signed up but it's asking for a State and American Zipcode for my credit card billing address.

GAF... what is the best way to play mkv files on the iPad? Anyway to stream them from my PC?

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-video-watch-your-videos/id306550020?mt=8

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/streamtome/id325327899?mt=8

either works, but I prefer the former. I own both. the later does videos, music AND photos. the former is easier to configure for remote access and always felt a little more reliable...but ONLY streams video.

they're cheap, why not get both.

Is there something better than Reeder? I hate that it doesn't have any functionality to mark as read as you scroll or to to mark all articles older than this one as read.

Some of my feeds get big and I can't read through all the headlines in one go. If I back out of a feed and go back in, it makes me start at the beginning again.

Would tweetbot offer anything over the default twitter app to someone like me who only reads tweets and don't actually tweet anything out?

River of News or something similar does that mark as read while scrolling.

I contacted the developer behind Newsify and he said that he will be adding the scroll to mark as read feature in the next update which will hit in the next couple of weeks.

Once it has that it will be fucking awesome. Like I told him, it combines the elegance of the shitty Flipboard with the utility of the ugly Feedler Pro.

I've been using Feedler Pro for like three years now, looking forward to using something a bit prettier.

New Reeder update out that finally brings back the previous behavior where the navigation bar stays fixed when scrolling. As much as I liked the gestures to go back to the article list, it sometimes wouldn't register properly because I did it at an angle.

Here's a screen where I'm scrolled down in an article but the top navigation bar is still accessible. No longer need to scroll back up to hit the Readability button now too.

There's also fixes for those of you having trouble with Fever.

What's New in Version 3.0.3
Article Viewer:
- The navigation bar is now fixed by default. There's a setting to make it scrolling again (as before) in case you prefer that (see "Settings">"App Settings" or the "AA" button on the top right in the article viewer)
- Text alignment and font size options for the article title

New:

Fixed:
- Better error handling when there's no connection
- Crash when syncing with Fever (again, sorry)

At least the bold part is possible since the last big update: In the feed list, put two fingers on an entry and drag them up or down to mark as read all articles above or below, respectively.

this podcast app from apple is either shit or I just cant get it figured out..
- it wont sync with iTunes on my mac.
- it wont sync with music on my iOS device (ie if i listen to a podcast there it wont show up as listened to in the podcast app
- it cant be controlled by siri

.. what am i missing here, it seems like absolutely no advantage over using the traditional method.

and a question if i turn on automatic download for a podcast will it only do it via wifi or where ever whenever it pleases? - i would prefer only wifi in order not to overly stress my bandwidth

Apple's podcast app is shit. if it weren't made by Apple it'd be ridiculed far and wide for not adhering to Cupertino's UX guidelines and for its general shittyness.

Downcast and Instacast are still the best of the best. even Android-UI-ish Tunein Radio handles podcasts better.

The Podcast app is crap. It's so laggy.

Can I somehow use iTunes without having to use iTunes? Is there an app that lets me view more than three words in a title, subscribe, queue and find stuff through iTunes easily? Can't believe how shitty iTunes is.

is shopsavvy still the best shopping app to compare prices of products online and locally, is there another app which is better and has more online/local resources?

Wow had no idea. Thanks, this should make Reeder a lot more usable for me now.

Is there a PDF reader which syncs the current page with an associated Mac app?

I'm gonna read some programming books within the next days. I'd like to read them on my iPad, but if there's sample source code to try out it would be nice if I could just open a OS X PDF reader showing the same page so I can copy it.

Sorry if this has been answered numerous times but what's the best podcast app?

Apple's is probably the buggiest POS app I've ever used.

Downcast or Pocket Casts or Instacast.

Currently downcast.

I used to like and use (the original, not Apples [they stole the name]) Podcaster app but it got a bug that made it not delete played podcasts.

Instacast is ok but the interface is bad.

Just piling on at this point, I tried Apple's podcast app for a week, and have since switched back to Downcast.

In addition to all the previously mentioned shortcomings of the Apple app, I found that I really missed the gesture controls to rewind or skip ahead.

Considering Apple make some fantastic hardware and software, their apps pretty much suck, don't they?

Messages
Calendar
Podcasts
Reminders
Safari
YouTube
Notes

Are all pretty shocking...

GameCenter, Camera, Photos, Maps etc are so so... but generally, I don't understand how they manage to get it so wrong so often, and seemingly make little to no effort to improve them
