Yeah, there's a thread about it: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=483287

Shit sucks.

Mail on iPad will continue to be subpar for the foreseeable future. :(

Don't worry, Outlook for iOS is coming and will save us all from the tragedy that the iOS mail.app is.

Another hint that Microsoft could have iOS apps in the works comes from a job listing posted earlier this month. It looked for a software engineer on the Outlook Test team to work on “Microsoft’s next move on the Mac and on iOS.”

Enable restrictions under settings app. Disable YouTube. Use website. Problem solved.

I don't know why people bother with that crappy app.

It's better quality. I've done comparisons between the youtube app and the mobile site and it's noticeably sharper

Sorry if the answer's really obvious, but what's up with Empire's monthly subscription being $1.99 on Newsstand?

Every issue is $4.99 without a subscription, and the monthly subscription is $1.99. The magazine comes out monthly. I ARE CONFUSED.

Whoa, didn't even know you could get Empire here on Newsstand. Awesome

Can anyone please recommend a good app for a trip away?

For example I may want a selection of beaches I'd like to visit, preferably with a picture of each and a link

Then I may want places to eat with a location and maybe a link

Then general places I'd like to visit, again with a location/link

Not sure if I'm asking for a lot, but I cannot find anything even remotely useful for this. Pocket/Readability are naff for it, and Evernote has a pretty poor interface, and no offline support unless you pay a hefty monthly fee. :/

Tripadvisor is pretty good.

Thanks, I love the site for finding information etc but absolutely hate the iPhone app (which is all I'll have available on the weekend) and also some of the places we're hoping to visit aren't on there :(

Does iCloud syncing in iCab Mobile work for anyone? When I exported my bookmarks on the iPad and attempted to import them on the iPhone, it said there were no files to sync in iCloud. After several attempts of exporting/importing and synchronizing, they appeared on my iPhone. I added a new bookmark on the iPad, but it doesn't appear on the phone.
Tab syncing doesn't work altogether.

Growl? Prowl? Howl?.....

GAF...I want a way to forward notifications (SMS, Email, missed calls etc) from my iPhone to my W7 PC.

Can this be done?

Does anyone know of any good apps for playing files not in mp4 format?

I've seen some on the App store like AVPlayer HD and Playable.

Readdle having a big sale. Really well designed apps. I can vouch for Scanner Pro. I want to pick up one of the PDF readers, but I'm not sure the difference between the two.

Please pardon my ignorance, but how does Scanner Pro improve over simply taking a photo then sharing it?

(tempted to take the plunge anyway, but the fact I have a decent wireless scanner at home I still haven't setup yet is stopping me from spending any more money on this, no matter how little!)

if its anything like jot pro (or whatever that's called that I own); you take a photo of a print (normally b+W); it bumps up the contrast automatically so white is white and black is black; so its easier to read. Works a treat and you can export as PDF

So...I don't really get how notification center works. NY Times app kept spamming me Olympic results like jerks so I said, perfect -- time to silence them with notification center! Go in, turn off some stuff (not even sure what the options are referring to, but I turn them all off). Still get notifications. Remove NY Times from notification center entirely. Still get notifications. So, I had to wind up deleting the app. Is there any way to control notifications? App itself does not seem to have any controls, and I don't even know what notification center is supposed to be controlling but it doesn't appear to have the ability to silence much of anything.

Notification centre is just the list of alerts you get when you pull down from the top of the screen. If you want to kill the other alerts you need to change the middle section to none (alerts/banners I think are the other options) and also turn off sounds and show in lock screen.

Basically, if you want to silence it completely then disable everything for the app in the notification settings. If it's still noisy, it's probably an issue with the app. :/

Lots of upload options (dropbox, google, etc), scans documents as PDFs, auto locates the borders and crops, has a variety of page sizes, and it auto adjusts the contrast and brightness.

Are CardStar and Key Ring the only apps available that stores loyalty cards? As small an issue as it is, I'm really not a fan of either one's UI design.

The Javascript thing IMO is even more ridiculous

if you jailbreak your device - and you should, it's so darn easy at this point - you can buy a .99 package that will enable Apple's Nitro engine in any app you wish, including Chrome. even Facebook feels nearly like a native app once it's allowed to use Nitro.

Chrome feels much nimbler in javascript-rich sites with this enabled.

Ah wow, thank you! Just wondering will that be made redundant with iOS 6 just around the corner though? Also, if I purchase it on my iPhone, can it be used on my iPad also?

I'll probably jailbreak right after 6.0. Seems pointless to do it now.

Name and repo? How about one to change the default browser.

It's what I was using. I think this is better, but that might be because I am a snob who hates blown up apps.
Well, let me know how it goes. Mainly if it autodetects the page better than Genius Scan - my only real annoyance with it.

genius scan and the likes suck in comparison to shopsavvy, thats the best scanning, shopping app on the app store
Hey everyone. Look at this post to see a user who shits on apps without even looking at them to see what they can do. Well done.

Is this the one where they finally stop jailbreaking? lol
This period is usually the best time to jailbreak

Expecting a jalibreak right after a new point iOS release is optimistic. Even more optimistic is expecting a new tweak to be functioning right away.

I'm on a streak:

I buy Downcast -> Apple releases Podcasts app (after the update it's good enough for my limited use)

I buy Sparrow -> Google buys Sparrow

So what app should I buy next?

Best podcast app? Downcast?

Yup, Downcast is the best. But try Apple's "Podcasts" app first to see if that has enough options for you. And if you aren't like me and check out some podcast that shouldn't even exist anymore you won't run into any problems either.

Edit: Heh, for the record, I just found a way to remove "stuck" podcasts over the Settings app. If Apple only added a download list and made it more stable/faster it'd be perfectly fine for most people.
