Sure, but I mean you don't have to go through the effort of actually trying to get the costume right. If your objective is to get nerds hot and bothered, all you need is the illusion that you're 'one of them'. You can half-ass it with something that isn't accurate but panders like hell. Again, it's probably easier to get a white halter top/hotpants, add a cape cape and do 'slutty powergirl' than sewing every part of the costume to match the design, as baroness said.

As a cosplay photographer I do lots of shoots with cosplayers and I have become really close friends with many of them. The number of cosplayers who cosplay just because they want attention is actually pretty small. A large number of them do it because they LOVE the franchise and they cosplay to show their love. An example is the aforementioned Crystal who has done this cosplay from Valkyria Chronicles. She cosplays as Selvaria because it is the character she can relate to the most and because she loves Valkyria Chronicles. One of my friends cosplayed from Magica Madoka because she can relate to the character she cosplayed from. If they get attention, they hope to get attention from various fans who share the same love and passion for the series they are cosplaying from.

But then you'll just be a one and out and filter in with the other dozen girls who do the same. You want to stand out, more if you are trying to sell your own stuff. I did note commissions for a reason. Wearing your own merchandise that specifically panders to your assets is about as strong of publicity as you can get for the niche, but extremely expensive market.

Awesome - might want to cook something similar up for Halloween. I feel like the minority in this thread in that I don't care about chicks with fake tits in anime costumes, but really appreciate the Halloween costume ideas.
