I put up a review of the Blinking Light Win for those that didn't back the Kickstarter. Short of it is that it works, but is just too damn good at holding the carts in place. I'm at a bit dismayed at the lack of comment from the Arcade Works team on the whole issue.

Sucks to hear, especially since, as you mentioned, the lack of a death grip was something they advertised with it.

Picked up Abadox and Baseball Stars this past Saturday from a couple local places.
Can't wait to try Abadox going by how hard I've heard it is.
Got my non-cracked AV Famicom today, whew.
Now to wait aaaalll day to get home and hook it up.
I just got mine in as well. I can confirm that it does have a strong grip, although I wouldn't say its as bad as yours is. It takes a good bit of effort, but I don't feel like I'm damaging the carts pulling it out.
That's too bad about BLW. The ninja grip seems to be an issue with every single after market NES connector. I wonder why it's so difficult to match the OEM build after all this time?
I suppose there are adapters available that allow the use of US carts in the AV Famicom? Just in case I do pick it up and want to play US games at 60 hz without having to buy a third damn NES.
I don't know why third-party ZIF replacements are so hard to get carts out of, but it seems reasonable that the BLW's pin connector would be harder to get a cart out of than the bendy original "ZIF" design. The problem is, that very ZIF design which makes it easy to get carts out is probably also the thing which makes the things fail, yes? I mean, the bendy pins and such. That's too bad about BLW. So regarding Famicom games. Living in Euroland, my NES collection is mostly PAL. I'm constantly on the fence on ordering an AV Famicom and starting to get some japanese titles, since I have no problems importing on my other systems (SNES, MD, Saturn). Is the color palette for AVF as washed as it seems from some of the pics? I can't do any modding myself so I'll have to use it as-is.
Famicom AV's composite is the cleanest I've seen besides Dreamcast's.
Also, cool avatar.
Y'all gotta see the PC Engine / TG16 Composite. It's damn near SVid.
Let's not get crazy.
Well, it's definitely better composite than anything else I've tried.
But I do want to get a little crazy.
Just a heads up, I'm going to list an RGB AV Famicom with red power LED in the B/S/T thread later today for $260 shipped.
I wish I had $260 to drop right now! But I guess that offer is just for US types.

Shit. And I just sunk a bunch of money into a lot so that I could get a few expensive games a bit cheaper.
Well, if it doesn't sell after a couple of weeks, I might be able to bite. Damn.
You can always hit me up. You provide the board and AV Famicom you could get one for $260 pretty easily. I finally got some of that peroxide cream D.lo recommended and it bleaches yellowed consoles super good.
Whoa, what the fuck? It's actually real?Cool. I would love to be able to use your services. Gotta build my funds back up.
And speaking of sinking money into retro stuff - Jeremy Parish has ordered an Analog Nt and it's just shipped to him. I hope he provides some impressions on either US Gamer or Retronuats.

Very excited to see your thoughts on it! I don't think I could quite justify the cost, but I think it's super, duper awesome, and I trust your input on it quite a bit.My plan is to have something about it (text/video) up July 6, barring shipping delays.

Everyone wants to see tests on the HDMI upscaler that is 'significantly superior' to a Framemeister...

Ah, cool. Kinda forgot you were lurking around this thread, Toasty. Looking forward to your trusted opinion on this.
Also, I think we all know the pros and cons of a device like this vs the real McCoy with mods, upscaled etc. I'm sure Toasty does, too, so let's not devolve into arguments about policing other people's spending choices.
I have to hang out here sometimes not enough action in the Game Boy thread. And where else could I go to be called "pure stupidity"? You can't get that kind of fresh take just anywhere on the Internet.
My friend is using one of those adapters to play Famicom games on his NES, and I was wondering - do all Famicom games work on an adapter (albeit slower 'cos of 50hz) or might games like Castlevania 3 require the original hardware because they use special chips?
I've had all my NES stuff packed away for about a year as I was heavy into PSone games instead. Today, I packed up my PSone and set up the NES and SNES. I realized that I can't find my 1943 cart. No problem, it's a $5 game. I search on eBay... $20 minimum?
What the hell? Who is buying 1943 loose for $20?
